I don’t really get any of this.. this team is structured and managed so poorly. Give up an arm and a leg for PLD who’s a center when we have Byfield already who can fight for the spot.

Now we have no money to address real weaknesses in goaltending and this team is still soft as f***. I think getting someone like Gudas and a decent goaltender would have been much more impactful than getting PLD.

Blake has done such a poor job it’s unbelievable.
Byfield isn't even a first line player at this point, but somehow is better than Dubois?

This certainly is one of the most oddly constructed rosters in the cap era.

Just crazy to think that in their original master plan they likely envisioned Kopitar, QB and Turcotte as the Top 3 C’s this season, with a combined salary of slightly less than $12m. And here is the reality, they instead are paying double that much to their 3 centers this season. That’s a massive whiff.

It’s tough because they had to improve the C position this off-season, you just aren’t winning with Danault and Lizotte as 2C and 3C, but they sure paid a premium for it and it has the team incredibly weak in goal and lacking depth at D and wing.

The Kings draft 6 centers and 4 d-man in the top 2 rounds between 2017 and 2021 and entering the 2023/24 offseason their are huge holes at C and D. I’m sorry but I have no idea, how in a results oriented business like this, that Yannetti is still employed. The team basically got rid of every Italian player in the last week, wish they had extended it into the scouting staff. He’s a fun interview (even if it’s 90% con man BS) and probably a good dude, but he’s flat out sucked at his job for awhile now.

my question is if Yanetti says draft this guy, and the GM over rules him [as been confirmed with both DL and RB ], how is it his fault? I get what your saying, but what can he do. Its been reported that he took Turcotte over his scouts advice, because Granato gave him his own scouting report on him. That's all on Blake.

Do we need more proof RB is a box of rocks? Englund of all people? I wanted a bounty on that guy... he's an AHL bum - no business on an NHL roster.

I think you have the wingers on line 2 and 3 swapped but overall it looks like a playoff squad. The goaltending isn't any worse then last year and the forwards and defense should be improved.
Maybe, but I don't think it matters that much.

The way I see it is we have 3 second lines, and a forth line.

Each of the top 3 lines should be expected to produce offense while being defensively competent. You gotta be able to roll the lines in the modern NHL. Especially when your top center is 36 years old.

The amount of bitching is at an all time high

I'm waiting for the 'this is good because' from anyone

but it's really telling that the most positive people are either just keeping quiet or making comments like 'lol' because there's not much to say

all 3 of these FA signings could've been a solid notch better if blake wouldn't have gone full Pejorative Slur on the PLD signing and just addressed the real problems

now he's just dumpster diving because of his own poor foresight

why would you ruin a good offseason with all this nonsense?

Fine with Enguland. Someone who can throw.

Lewis baffles me. JAD is the same player but 20 years younger.

BTW, been telling everyone all summer the Kings are done with Bjornfot and this shows it.

The bottom pair is now Enguland-Spence.

Clarke and Bjornfot to Ontario or Toby gets dealt.

Everything you are seeing is the result of poor drafting results. It’s almost impossible to build a team without cheap productive players on ELC’s.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s the fault of the scouts choosing the wrong players or this bizarre “slow cook” that nobody else uses, because of the fact in the first paragraph. Blame whoever you want to blame but the results, especially from high picks have been nothing short of dreadful.

This shouldn’t be really surprising when you have to pay big money to fill holes you failed to at the draft.

This organization needs to have a complete gutting like it had after the 2006 season. And never again should former players be put decision making roles, it’s historically been a disaster for this organization. Whether it was Vachon, Taylor or Blake/Robitaille.

“We got rid of Durzi and Walker this was masterclass”

And now he somehow makes it worse lol.
replaced a 22 year old lefty D with a 27 year old one, neither of whom can crack the NHL for any respectable length of time

and gave him 2 YEARS!!

won't even sign an RFA contract for toby!
