The Kopitar contract didn't age well the past few years either, luckily that is over.In the big picture, the Doughty contract continues to be a huge albatross around Blake’s neck.
A d-man making $11m a season should be a truly dominant, perennial Norris trophy candidate. Drew is just not that type of player anymore and it’s only going to get worse. No one likes to bring it up, but it was pretty telling when the team didn’t really miss a beat in 21-22 when he went out.
Drew is probably a $7-8m a year defenseman, that $3-4m would go a long way in being able to better construct a roster.
What about the Trevor Moore deal?
