In the big picture, the Doughty contract continues to be a huge albatross around Blake’s neck.

A d-man making $11m a season should be a truly dominant, perennial Norris trophy candidate. Drew is just not that type of player anymore and it’s only going to get worse. No one likes to bring it up, but it was pretty telling when the team didn’t really miss a beat in 21-22 when he went out.

Drew is probably a $7-8m a year defenseman, that $3-4m would go a long way in being able to better construct a roster.
The Kopitar contract didn't age well the past few years either, luckily that is over.

What about the Trevor Moore deal?

Well were is luff now?
I mean I get it with guys like Amadio that make it in the NHL.

Pretty sure you meant to say your surfing buddies are inflatable and they can't hear us from the bath tub
Signed an extension with the Wings, but you missed my point.
I wouldn't give the keys to this development staff to my 91 Cavalier let alone handing them a 2023 Corvette in hopes they don't crash it.

You want $3-$4 mil then we just Arvy and I saw just ship him out because after Moore’s injury last season the guy faded away.. yeah he can shot and barely hits the net but it’s his inability to play under pressure during this past playoffs that convinced me the Kings should cash in on him

Blake's only goal, handed down by Anschutz, was to get the team into the playoffs for a consecutive number of years. Their goal was to make money, not win the cup. It's very clear. Blake doesn't care about developing prospects. He cares about putting a competitive team on the ice.
*Looks at the current roster and cap space.

*Thinks about how the Kings are going to run with a 22 man roster...

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you, Blake, and Anschutz...

Cam Talbot and Lewis? Sweeeet, who’s the hot new prospect who’s going to be 1st overall? Need to start doing my draft homework now then.

That Moore contract is already an anchor, i still don’t understand why Blake signed it during the season, wait until the off-season to see what you have. Moore has to have a big year to justify it.

Hopefully the sign a decent vet for Ontario because I don’t want them to ruin Portillo when one of the geriatric duo eventually gets hurt.

And we’ll be right back in the same spot next year when both goalies become UFAs. Brilliant long term thinking after six years.

“Kopi and Drew, I know you guys want one last kick at the can here so I’ve gone all in just to make sure that happens.”

“Cool. Who’s in net?”

“Cam Talbot and Pheonix Copley”.

*Blank stares*

I was one of the biggest Blake defenders during his playing years but as GM, he and Luc need to be shot out of a cannon before they do more damage.

Oh my. Blake is like the Angels Arte Moreno -- loves a shiny new toy but ignores the overall team needs and how to build a complete, proper team (& organization).

Seriously how could we get to this place in summer 2023 with no goalies? This has been a flashing red light for years. No surprise though since the same thing happened with LHD -- and we ended up playing Edler and Durzi (a defensively challenged RHD) as LHD. Same with physicality/size/grit. We're the guy driving around in porsche in a fancy Italian suit whose house is about to be foreclosed on.
The angels comparison is sad but true. Very similar regular season box office goals as well.
Starting to think the the reason blake, robitaille and bergevin are still around is that aeg is focusing on reducing thier business due to the owners age and infirmities. Aeg's focus is there.

Where is everyone seeing cam talbot? I can't find anything.

I still think Copley can get the job done. Adin Hill just won a Stanley Cup, who saw that coming?

just signed yet another LWer -- russian guy.
So no goalies and no Right shot forwards. It's like Steve Martin in 'The Jerk': he hates these cans! (RB with R shot forwards / goalies).
