There hasn't been any news around whether Quick is gonna try and play next season, right?
I've seen a couple tweets linking him to the NYR. I could see him signing there to finish his career on his childhood favorite team.

He's far better than Halak anyway, who f***ing blows

Blake f***ed all this shit up.

We could've just saved money by re-signing Vilardi and Kupari then actually acquiring a LHD and somewhat legit goaltender.

Instead our big off-season changes will be adding one forward and another C+ caliber goalie.

Its not over yet. The next two seasons will be big for Blake. Kopitar winding down. The prime aged core thats kind of a bridge with Kempe, Fiala, Dubois, Gavrikov, Anderson, and Roy is solid enough.
And right now coming out of that 3 year rebuild with Byfield, Kaliyev, Clarke, Portillo has potential.
If these guys become top players in the next couple seasons the Kings are gonna be great.
Still have the next tier of Bjornfot, Fagemo, Spence, Laferriere, Chromiak, Pinelli, Helenius that can round things out or be used to fill holes in trades. If they could have scooped a goalie like Askarov Knight or Wallstedt it woulda been real nice.
Its not all rosy and I wouldnt have done it this way.
But the pieces are there and there is a chance they come out of this as a top team.
Byfield Clarke and Portillo gotta come through in a big way. Wish Turcotte could be included but until hes healthy you cant count on him.

Vladar for Grundstrom and a pick.

I was hoping that would get done today, but decently happy after reading about the players that were picked up.
Hopefully Calgary comes down on the ask if that's the route LA goes. Hasn't had the best 2 seasons, Wolf needs to be in the NHL, and there's better guys available via trade

Antti Raanta and Semyon Varlamov are our best options.

Unfortunately it sounds like Varly will be re-signing with the Islanders and since Raanta has the best numbers by UFA goalies he'll probably end up getting 3M+ which we can't afford.

Hanging with Brad Doty.
I think Blake is getting away from build from the back end out. He's going for more offense and hoping they can deliver. Team is completely soft with a dead forecheck. Net is weak. Offense and a few players can play D. Sounds like Edmonton light or him trying to adjust to an updated NHL. The identity of the team is changing before our very eyes. Not sure if it's a burning pile of shit or not but something feels like it's on fire. Either way, more goals is exciting but not sure how far they'll get.

It will anger most people on here to hear it but trading him and having that cap spread through the lineup would go a long way. They wont trade him though.
If RB serious about winning in next 2 or 3 years its a logical thing to do. The team can win without him as proven in 21-22... but I agree its not going to happen unless someone comes to Blake with a deal he cant turn down. Plus DD has an mNTC.. im pretty sure if Toronto wanted him it could happen easily since they are in the window.

I mean we can talk about moving Doughty but that's all just fantasy land stuff.

We'll be hit with a reality check in a few days when we bring in Keith Kinkaid, Scott Sabourin, and Jordie Benn.

Well no one thought JQ would ever get moved.. i dont think its as far fetched as it seems since RB is doing crazy shit that defies logic

PLD: When player like Fiala, Danault, PLD become available & your team has the chance to land them you land them. If it costs Kupari instead of JAD or an extra second you make that happen.

Defense is stacked & they're adding Clarke & Spence.

King's might end up with fewer goals, but with a stronger top 9 they may also give up fewer goals. With Pheonix all year, they should give up fewer goals even with 1-2 stinkers per game.

Goal: Add the best patch possible now. Very few teams start the season without some holes. The good news is goalies tend to be cheaper than a top6 center to add at the trade deadline.

They can add a goalie & scoring wing at the deadline if needed.

PLD is a solid add for the future. If Kopi took a major step back in the next year or two, the King's might drop in the standing with just Danault, Byfield & Lizotte & not be able to attract good players. In today's NHL you have to be able to draft talent or attract talent. Keeping up appearances by brining in PLD is very important for getting players to want to come to LA.

Suzuki, Stützle, PLD, & Fiala all have similar salaries next year. With the salaries the young players are getting, drafting is no longer the only way to build.

I like where the team is. Like that Blake has taken some solid steps forward as GM. Understanding the team needs to be harder to play against & not being afraid of making the difficult choices even if they hurt. Blake landed one of the best centers that will be moved this summer.

Hockey Gods could decide to hit the King's with a calamity next year, but there's lots to be excited about this Summer.

I mean we're basically banking on a career AHL'er on having back to back seasons of being a capable goaltender at the NHL level.

Copley may very well just fall apart and we might be in the same situation/worse than last year.

They should be fine, as long as we don't have to see Dan Cloutier or Jason LaBarbera or Yutaka Fukufuji or Barry Brust in net. f*** me, we've seen a lot of garbage between the pipes.

The good thing is that he at least did have that year in Washington where he showed he could be at this level. Arguably should've stayed up but Washington tried to fast-track Samsonov.

Fukufuji is still playing so let's not speak too quickly...
