Filip Forsberg is the type of player you open the vault up for and do first + top prospect for. He is a gamebreaking goal scorer, something the Kings DESPERATELY need. You put him next to Byfield for the next 8 years. That dirty mustache would need to stay in Nashville though.

Bertuzzi is another player I love, he's a killer and the type of player the Kings need. Very skilled and has a couple crossed wires which will help a team like the Kings which is lacking toughness. Funny enough, another player many keyboard warriors trashed entering this season, but he's been a BEAST.

As for vaccination status, I won't even get into it. Not even worth any of our time.

Whether he'd be able to cross the border should the Kings play Calgary or Edmonton if they made the playoffs is certainly worth our time to consider.

They were talking about Forsbergs next contract on NHL radio an hour ago. Figure it will be in the 9 mil a year range. Don’t think we can make it fit without putting us up right against the cap

I'd love to get Forsberg. I'd hate his cap hit. Between the two I'd rather save the cap space instead of rolling the dice on him matching what is a career year. He's averaging 31 goals per 82 games in his career and likely to get a 5-7 year deal. He's still only 28 next year but I don't want to lock $8-$9 million into a 33-35 year old Forsberg.

Of course it is, but I find the entire thing so stupid that I won't waste my time or anyone else's even discussing it. Shouldn't even be an issue but unfortunately it is.

I personally don't see why Detroit would ever trade him, he's an outstanding player who has had his best season this year at 27, that's the evolution you want from a player.

Trade threads are ripping apart Vilardi's value. I know most of it is ignorance but it sucks to see. I hope this guy gets a shot with LA soon and shuts up the noise.

We'd be saying the same thing if we were selling and the return was a 22 year old former 1st rounder in the AHL.

Would you be excited if the Kings were out of it and we were trading Iafallo for Owen Tippett?

It might not be fair to Vilardi, he might (probably) deserves another chance, but it's also not unfair to criticize the outside perception that he's not good enough to crack the Kings nearly 5 years after being drafted.

Just for fun, Preds fan have a poll of what to do with Forsberg. 54.4% want him at least signed, if not given a blank check. 72% want either that, or traded only for an offer that can't be refused.

Doesn't mean much, but it's still more likely that a player like Forsberg isn't traded, and is re-signed by Nashville. Even if they have zero chance to win a Cup in the next 8 years. Assuming Forsberg wants to stay. Only if he is completely against staying there will he be dealt.

Then of course Poile has come out now and said he isn't being actively shopped. Which may or may not be true. Then again, any rumors of him being showed may or may not be true. It is, yet again in the cap world, very quiet when it comes to any significant amount of player movement. Those rumors boys need something to write though.

If he agreed to sign I'd give up just about anyone. But I think he is engaged to a country singer, he might want to be in Nashville, just a matter of getting as much out of them.

But a dream for the Kings, a right shot goal-scorer who is only 27.

You are assuming this is Kopitar related. It isn't about them apples. Its about the same group of clowns as usual who scoffed at the idea that any team in the playoff race could possibly move their best player when I suggested that the Kings should move for Forsberg instead of Chychryn just a month ago. And I didn't say that he was going to be moved either - I said "available" which is the report.

But to counter your points on your terms, the Preds have had a hell of a lot more playoff success than the Kings over the past 8 years - including the duration of Kopitar's extension.

Can afford and should afford are two completely different things. Just because the Kings "could" have afforded that deal doesn't mean that they "should" have signed it. Maybe frugality makes better bedfellows here.

I apologize for misunderstanding your intent.

I do think it's still questionable as far as calling things. Nashville traded Weber for Subban. With a big contract year, this could be driven more by finances than other factors. I don't know and won't pretend I know more about the situation. My point is that it's likely a "bad" move if they do move him, and they weren't wrong to question the logic of trading a star amid a playoff hunt.

Is this turning into one of those things where like on twitter, if you mention lions, someone else jumps in and talks about tigers and then suddenly changes it to "your bias against giraffe's is glaring". Cause it's starting to look like that.

If that's the case, you haven't mentioned Dustin Penner yet either and I think his feelings are hurt. You should get him too, don't forget Jonathan Quick either or anyone else you forgot to mention.
When all else fails, dazzle 'em with bullshit. You're good at it.

A pipe dream huh..

Also guys. I was looking at some stats and Olli Maatta is somehow a +10.

Maatta can be fine some games. Its just when hes bad hes BAD. And hell make the most boneheaded mistakes at the weirdest times. Like a couple games ago there was no pressure and all of a sudden he whiffed and coughed it up in his own zone and high sticked a guy in the face for a 4 minute penalty. Like he couldnt even do that sequence if he tried.

Yeah, but you know that it would turn into a bad contract. He'd be 28 when the new deal starts and it would take him into his mid 30's.

He's a 25-30 goal scorer. That very good, but NOT elite.

His shooting percentage this year is 23.2%. That's double his career average, and means this season is likely an outlier.

If you’re gonna trade for a guy on a shooting bender, it’s better to get a forward hot right now than a defenseman who was hot last year.

I’d trade everyone except Clarke for him

This is even funnier when written out

Guys make mental mistakes at times, physical mistakes too, it's part of the game...but no one else makes me go "Maatta WHAT the actual f*** ARE you doing?!?" so frequently. It's almost endearing at this point. Almost. Half the time when he makes a good play it's because no one in the building expected anyone on skates to be standing *right there*
