I think the good and bad of it is Blake can just have a mexican standoff with them--AZ doesn't need to move him, LAK doesn't need to acquire him, it just makes sense for both parties to varying degrees.

In theory they SHOULD be able to craft a pretty good win-win deal but each side will also have to take on some risk.

I still think he finally ends up in one of the contenders instead (Blues or FLA) as someone who wants to go all in won't be able to resist his cap hit and juicing their team at the deadline.
I don't know if he's the answer or not, but I do think he is worth the assets at least to go in that direction. The team needs to play together more and garner/gut out more wins and experience with that. When the team is ready, then the trade is tweaking for the playoffs. I feel like LA is good, but not great. Young, but inexperienced. There needs to be more from them IMHO.

I know that Doughty and Anderson are making up a pretty solid top pair. If we were to acquire Chychrun I would like to see the positive effect that Drew and Chychrun would have on each other.

That would allow us to move Anderson onto a line with Durzi and I think that that pairing could be ridiculously good for each other.

Edler returns and pairs with Roy and that is a ridiculous D core

Do we expect him to be able to get the same numbers if he isn’t on PP1? Durzi booted from PP2? Or do you think Kings go back to 2 defenseman on PP1?

I was sitting in my car on my lunch break when I heard Richards was coming to LA and I thought,,,,no way we don't win this thing. I watched that YT vid of him on "the shift" over and over again and thought, this guy is gonna teach our vets how to get over the top. I thought he brought Brownie to another level, especially when he checked Burrows in the playoffs at the blue line.
Especially? You mean the Dustin Brown that was already top 3 in hits for 6 straight seasons suddenly got motivated to hit people by a Richards check?

I’ll say it right now, Chychrun isn’t great defensively.. He’ll cause Drew to regress by having to cover his responsibilities unlike Mikey whose pretty damn good against top flight competition

Chychrun would be 2nd pairing, ala Muzzin. I'd put him with Roy, personally, then Durzi with Bjornfot.
I agree.

His greatest successes came when he had OEL getting caved in in front of him against rougher competition. He’d get a lot of those same favourable matchups with Roy, behind Doughty and Anderson. He has proven he can score a lot at even strength, which should continue as that is this team’s bread and butter. His deployment on the PP would be a question mark.

Which is why a reduced price of Turcotte, Grans and a 1st makes more sense to me, even if the source is bullshit. Its steep but it’s more in line with acquiring a top 4 guy vs a bonifide top pairing guy. That “4 top assets” jargon was too rich for my blood.

Forgot to mention. Scoring or not, he gets his shot through. Averages like 3 shots a game.

Our defense is top 10 in the league and we couldn't score a powerplay goal if the faceoff was held inside the net, but sure let's trade for a defenseman.

Our blueline is a black hole on the powerplay. Trading for blueliner that can address this issue would solve a lot of our powerplay concerns.

Our forwards are a black hole on the powerplay. The only thing that will save our powerplay is replacing Kopitar brown and Doughty with Byfield, Turcotte, Vilardi etc.

Our coaches aren’t smart enough to put Durzi on pp1. Getting another guy isn’t gonna fix that.

It's a killer instinct and this team was missing it. That's why so many of their games were won by 1 goal throughout the regular season. I think Richards brought out the team's killer instinct, keep in mind, Flyers lost in 6 games to CHI. Losing sucks and people remember that. There was a discussion right after that hit on these boards about how this team's approach was just different. It was that killer instinct and that this team turned a corner There was no reason to hit Burrows, they had an empty net and the puck was moving on and Richards buried him. That sends a message and I think he helped elevate Brownies play in the playoffs, not just the hit, but by example. You don't beat your opponent. You destroy their morale and willingness to compete to win a series. MR did that. DB was just starting to get that in his play. DB just started to play viciously and to me it showed.

There is a big difference btw regular season DB vs playoffs. From one cap to another, MR brought a lot of leadership to this team. I don't think we would have won the cup without Richards. They turned it up a notch, the whole team did and I think it was well timed. You're welcome to your own opinion that regular season=playoff success and leadership and all that. I just don't agree with it. That's why they got bounced pretty easily in the past.

It wasn't killer instinct at all, the Kings did nothing in the regular season with Richards. It was his pal -- that big lazy Carter that was the difference maker. Without JC they don't even make the playoffs in 2012.

What ever has happened to Anze’s brain.

It’s like the guy is half as capable of processing plays at speed as he used to be.

You're right. We should replace hall of famers like Doughty and Kopitar with three kids who have a combined two goals all season.

I get the desire to play the kids but we need to be realistic.

Btw, Durzi is second in PP time/game amongst defenseman behind Doughty if you ignore Clague's 11 game stint that came before Durzi was even on the team. He's obviously getting a fair amount of powerplay time.

I'm going to have to watch a few more Coyote games to figure out if Chychrun's invisibility act is getting worse or if it's just against the Kings. He looked terrible out there, no shots, no hits. Hell, all of our D on the ice looked better than him. He didn't look like a guy struggling mentally, he looked like a guy who had lost some of his game. Not saying a change of scenery wouldn't flip the switch back for him, but sheesh.

Honestly didn’t see very much from JC the last two games for what it is worth. Doesn’t make a career but yeah.

I'd pass on getting him and getting a legit top 9 forward. Think Pavel Zacha would look good on LW and could be had for a reasonable deal. Could even make him 3C and send Byfield down. 6'3" 210 and could use his size. Just getting AA off the ice would be huge. Get Zacha on PP2 and in front of the net.
Line 1 has been flat for some time. Could do this: (maybe helps save line 3 too)

Zacha- Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Iafallo - Byfield - Brown
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

or
Iafallo - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Zacha - Byfield - Brown
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

even better:
Iafallo - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Zacha - Byfield - Vilardi
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

Chychrun last game took a penalty with a few minutes left. This game he iced the puck on the man advantage with a few mins left. Hockey IQ in doubt.

Chychrun/ Roy isn't going to happen because someone needs to move the puck. So it's Chychrun/ Doughty or more probable Chychrun/Durzi.
44/8
7/3
Chychrun/ 50

Not seeing anything elite from him right now. I'm about 2X 2nds or the Toffoli (2nd + Madden).

Now Forsberg? Sign me up!
