Speculation: LA Kings News, Rumors, Roster Thread part VII

I’ve bagged on Laine and the idea of trading for him in the past, but his game seems to have taken a step this season. Even if that step is “don’t don’t be an utter liability,” it’s important.

I know it’s not the correct move right now, but it’s damn tempting.

It's too bad we didn't buy low, It'd be hard to acquire him now.

It's a contract year, obviously Laine is gonna be on his best behavior. Once he gets his money he'll go back to cruise mode while bitching about his linemates in the press.

Wasn’t there a rumor of us having interest in Tyler Bertuzzi over the summer? Supposedly the wings are taking calls on him. I’d love to have him.

I also know that many here wouldn’t like to have him based on his vaccine choice…so you don’t have to comment on that…

you can’t take him to play games in Canada which would be a problem

If the Kings play Calgary in the playoffs and they acquire Bertuzzi, would he miss road games? Seems like a major obstacle if you’re getting a guy for a playoff push.

why? people deserve a second chance and he has 40 pts in 43 games, is the 3rd leading scorer on the team, almost 20 minutes of ice time for the 1st place team in the met. We can only speculate what Brindamour has done and what he is like in the locker room but if he was on the Kings with those stats- we are fighting for the pacific division title. I get the history- but so far doesnt seem to be an issue and hes clearly a stud for the Canes.

Fully agreed. I am sick of this PC shit when what matters is winning. DeAngelo would have been a great pick up for the Kings, who have been needing offense from D
(please don’t remind me the Kings have black players up and down their system)

wrt DeAngelo, we are absolutely FLUSH with RHD, Durzi would have never seen the light of day with ADA here, and it's not "PC shit" or politics--the guy had been on every team in every situation before finally making it big with the Canes. It was a big risk for the Kings--why could WE fix him when he was jettisoned in short order from bad teams like the Coyotes, SCF teams like the Lightning, and similar up and coming teams in the Rangers? He finally landed with an absolute elite team,perfect situation, probably last chance with the Canes and figured it out. there are PLENTY of reasons ADA didn't land here and 'being cancelled' isn't one of them and frankly it's insulting to the collective intelligence of this forum for people to be continually slinging around petty bullshit like 'you don't like him because politics.' Gonna start throwing infractions for that quite frequently if it keeps up.

WRT to Bertuzzi it's not just raw mask politics/vaccination stuff, it's literal border-crossing logistics, not just 'ow my feelings'. When half of the potential playoff matchups are in another country that matters a whole lot more than some half-baked bullshit.

Ok, sorry. I just think off ice stuff can get blown out of proportion and many of these hockey players are not boy scouts in many different ways but only some get publicized, often unfairly.

I remember acquiring Richards and Carter in the EA NHL game then Dean Lombardi pulls it off for real shortly after. That was pretty bonkers lmao.

Totally fair approach, just please make sure the infraction stick is applied both ways. People posting petty bullshit like 'I don't want that d-bag on the team' are trolling for a response just as much as the people complaining about 'because politics', and both need to be dealt with. I hope we can all leave the politics (from all sides) at the door.

Funny how I thought Richards would be the more impactful acquisition of the two. Carter really grew up into one hell of a player and a person in LA, and I'm a little bit bummed he won't retire a King.

He likely won't have his number retired by the org, but to me he's in the tier just below that.

That's probably something none of us expected heading into the offseason in 2011. I wish there was a way to go back to some of those discussions from back then, but I think all that content has been purged from the boards.

The Richards trade came completely out of left field. I remember my neighbor at the time texted me "We got Richards!" and my reply was "We signed Brad Richards?". :laugh:

And funny enough, the Kings still made a free agent pitch to sign Brad Richards that very summer, after they had already acquired Mike Richards.
Brad Richards makes Kings wait

I guess this team has always had a thing with overloading on centers.
