In the written version of his 32 thoughts, Friedman mentions the Kings are pursuing Ben Chiarot (Carolina, Florida, St. Louis also mentioned).

Unless this is part of a sign-and-trade, I can't understand for the life of me why LAK would be interested in an expensive rental dman.

I'm not even interested in a sign and trade. He's aruably at his peak value financially, so to resign him ahead of UFA would likely require an overpayment.

I think our 1st should be off the table at the deadline for a rental, which takes us out of the market for most marquee rentals. And I'm fine with that.

Sup Kings fans!

Do you guys think you'd be willing to trade Vilardi? What would you be looking for?

The Bruins desperately need some long term center depth. Looks like he's fallen down your depth chart, but his AHL numbers are still better than our current "best" C prospect in Studnicka. If the price os reasonable, I think giving Gabe a shot makes some sense.
Take Kopitar with a good bit of salary retention for a 2022 first round pick, 2023 2nd, 2023 3rd.
Kings dont need more depth players in a trade so just the picks. They need Grzelcyk or Pastrnak and neither are available.

What up B's!?

Vilardi couldn't hack it up in the bigs at the 2C position last year. Though, he had been battling that little spine issue for what seems like eternity, so there's that.

More recently, he's been dominating down in the AHL at the wing. We will most likely see him back up with LA at some this season, but Blake has show he's a bit adverse to trading away his young talent.

Chariot was injured a few days ago...

What about Travis Sanheim as a target?

I like Sanheim. Really do not like Chiarot. If the Kings can stay in the playoff race, and Edler comes back as they say he may, you could be looking at:

Anderson-Doughty
Edler-Roy
Sanheim-Durzi

Could flip Sanheim and Anderson if need be

Todd can f***ing piss right off

At least he’s consistent. A top prospects attitude is always the demarcation line for this coach’s public judgement of the player. Having a bad demeanor at the rink is cause for demotion and willingness to accept limited minutes is praised throughout the organization.

None of this is wrong. It just rings hollow when organizational depth is the calling card for hope and no prospect is close to supplanting a vet post tear down.

Yep, hills when he had Grundstrom on the line. Switch Grundstrom with AA and now it's death valley. Again, play your best prospect with your two worst regular forwards and what do you expect? And before any of you come to AA's defense, give me a compelling reason why he's a better hockey player than any winger currently on the 1st and 2nd line and Arty and Pepe. Brown and AA are worse than ALL of them.

Should have asked for their next three #1 picks.

I was just throwing out a random ask but three firsts sounds nice. I think Boston has a nice left d prospect also. Either way everyone gets so uptight if Kopitar is mentioned and I get it. Hes the best King. But they arent going to win with him running the show playing all situation with insane minutes. No coach will have the balls to come in and demote him either. Management needs to make the decision to get the boatload for him while hes still a valuable player.

That's the thing, every single one of the vets could be supplanted right now if the organization would stop patronizing the Cup core and shift focus from chasing the playoffs to developing for the future.

Teams coming out of a rebuild aren't supposed to be in the playoffs. Its perfectly okay to take some lumps with a greater good in mind. But it isn't okay to take the lumps to chase the uncatchable while delaying the necessary progress required to actually get back to the playoffs.

Two ends being played at once, neither is successful, both hurt by the simultaneous focus on the other. Its too cute for a management team who frankly has yet to succeed at anything.

Pick a direction and put full faith and effort into maximizing its potential for success and stop dicking around.

Edit: The narrative on Brown has changed… I thought it was Blake and Brownie talking about maybe an extension but now it seems like Brown is on the out.. very interesting
