In 2022, I'm struggling with this one...examples?

What is the going rate for a 20-goal scorer these days? And let's be clear about VA, he only played 66 games -- and which part of that was he playing like a zombie? lol, are we talking about the same player?

One of the prime examples was Calgary where they hold on Iginla forever, just to declare each year, this is the year where we have a chance on a run.
Vancouver and the Sedin sisters would be another one. Holding on former glory and hope for miracles did a horrible service to those teams

For Arvidson, we talk about the same player. His playstyle can't be more braindead.
He is not even a high amount shooter, he just slings the puck in a rough direction of the goal even sacrificing a way better passing option
I actually like shoot first wingers but i would like it better if a little bit of shooting skill is involved.

Also the rate for 20 goal scorers these days is the wrong question in my mind.
There shouldn't be a 20 goal scorer in the top 6 at all.

He has averaged 24 goals and 47 assists for 71 points over his entire career and is going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer and you think having a season just below that average is a disaster? Ok then I guess.

His average or HOF is irrelevant as it gets.
He delivers 19 goals while payed 10 mill right now.

For 10 mill you better be a PPG player at the very least

Oh yah, you were the guy who insists that the top 6 should be loaded with 30+ goal scorers -- then you got VERY quiet yesterday when I pointed out that the '12 and '14 teams had ZERO 30+ goal scorers. Carry on.

I'm not quite about it, it's established fact.

But as usual, i want the cup again some time, not just look at former glory

I really can't see a top 6 of Kopitar, Iafallo, Arvidson, Kempe, Danauld and Moore have what it takes to win the cup and this is the only thing i care about.
Of course there is our defense but this is a different topic

I see the state of the team as:

Our offense can't score at all except here and there against the rebuilding teams in our division
Our defense can't even remotely keep the tall, fast and skilled players of the cup contenders in check

This sounds somehow like an opinion of a pissed off fan to me.
Do we know anything at all about this guy and his pedigree?
He works for TSN.

Well, last I checked, Iafallo most likely will not be in top 6 -- not to mention we got this guy named Fiala who should be good for 35 goals. Danault is a year removed from carrying a team to the Stanley Cup Final -- so there's that too.

And you'll find a thousand more examples like that, as opposed to the kind of thing you want done. Your preferred method is usually precipitated by not wanting to spend money, or the player wanting to leave. Rarely does the team willingly let go of a player at the higher levels.

One more note, anyone who thinks this team is a contender one year after graduating from a rebuild is delusional. It's going to take a couple years before anyone should realistically think this team has a chance at winning anything.

You can guarantee money much more than you can a Cup.

You don't take a discount at 27 to win. You take a discount at 34 if you haven't won, after you've made your money.

Players have beaten so many odds to get to where they are, they believe they can win whatever you pay them. The cap is management's problem. Players never wanted the cap. Every guy wants as much money as they can get, as soon as they can get it. That's signing bonuses, front loaded contracts, etc.

^^^

No one is taking a discount, certainly not what would be the most marquee player to hit UFA in a long time (maybe ever).

It’s like when people thought Doughty and Kopitar would give the Kings discounts. It’s just not a reality for 99% of players. And certainly not a guy with no connection to the organization or the area.

He's been a PPG player exactly one time his entire career and was 0.06 PPG below his career average. If that's a disaster...we've just got different definitions.

What an absolute disaster of a comment, just f***ing brutal.....

Go through all 32 teams...please.....tell me which team has SIX 30 goal scorers in their top six......

I will go bake myself a goddamn apple pie made from a just planted apple tree, it will take you that long to find that......

f***, talk about not knowing the industry.....

It can be argued that MacKinnon did take a discount on his last deal

Toyota Sports Performance Center is open to the public. Training camp, development camp and pretty much every other thing that happens here is open to the public. There are areas that are off limits but generally speaking you can come and watch every second of training camp.
Awesome, are there any scrimmages scheduled for this week?

Never trust anyone that spells Sean that way. Never trust a Geoff either.

I once knew a Rodger. He’s dead now thank goodness.
I worked with a good dude named Schuyler. I called him Schoo-ee-ler. Not SKY LER.

my alltime fave:

How does Ralph Fiennes pronounce his name?

Rafe

1. His full name is Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes. And Ralph is pronounced "Rafe" to rhyme with "safe."J

You know people who spell their name Rodger cheats at Scrabble. Get those extra letters out of here!
Exactly, why do you think Canadians add a "u" to many words when it is not needed. Canadians really aren't as nice as some would think.

Kurrilino has been posting on this board for 15+ years. People acting shocked and outraged by his takes is hilarious to me.
I am for anyone who "wrecks the interior". In my mind that line is a classic.

And this is where we 100% agree.

This is why i want Kopitar and Doughty dusting the press box and let the youngsters figure out who got it and who doesn't.

Well that is not what anyone asked for.

I measure winger in goals and centers in points.
So yes, i expect 30 goals minimum from top wingers and PPG points minimum from top centers.

I would even cut the 2nd line some slack and would be happy with close to 30 goals, something like 28 or so.

Anyways, we are talking 17 goals here which is not even close to sufficient for a top 6 role

Again, go through all 32 f***ing teams...and tell me how many came close to that? Shit....

I got some time,

NONE....

That was quick.
