I rolled my eyes so far back they almost got stuck.

Is it really that bad if they sign Brown to a smaller contract at a lower cap hit? His numbers are really not bad this year considering the minutes he's getting. Big playoff experience too for these kids.

Its not debatable at all on the Kings roster. Who would be worse? Looking at the Reign there are probably better options there even.
Cant think of a single player or winger lines around the league that would be worse. Zero pp time for QB also. Hes gettin the shaft but at least he doesnt have pressure to be the guy yet.

Obviously, we are going to come to the disagreement that all fans have with coaching staff of stats vs veteran ship, but I'd argue that Grundstrom, Lias Anderson, Wagner, and whatever else loose change on the 4th line and AHL might be worse and then there is a whole lot worse around the league and other teams. We all want Byfield to succeed. I'm just saying things can be worse and he is getting time with a veteran that he won't have much longer to play with.

The same guy who will 29 next season, and probably be looking for a longterm, say 8 mil plus deal as a UFA? Dean Lombardi rental price right there .
I don't think he'll want that much. He's only getting 5.6 right now. And at 28, a big contract just isn't justified. He'd be a good look at 2c though with PD bumping down to third. I don't know if LA can wait for Turcotte to make the big club, so this would be a nice alternative. And again, Hertl's production just doesn't justify a big contract. He could probably get around 6.5 in LA.

Blake has said Brown and the team have mutual interest in him staying. Propects will probably be used in trades to make more room for up coming drafts and trade pieces for a LHD.
Where do you see they have interest in signing him for next season?
That would be a weird strategy. Be really bad and tank for top picks with Brown on the team.
Develop those picks and trade them right when they are ready without ever giving them a chance because Dustin Brown is on the team and they need to go all in and also get more draft picks

I think Hertl will get $8M a year somewhere.

Especially considering it'd likely only be a 1 year deal. Trading away someone who could be on the team for a few years at least for one more year of Brown.

Even though he isn't a part of the current success, I still hope to keep Lias Andersson and find him a role somewhere whether top six or bottom six. Even though we didn't draft him, I still consider him one of the young players I hope grows into a Kings w/logo butt tattoo along with guys like Byfield, Kaliyev, Turcotte, Durzi, Bjornfot, etc.

I hope once he gets fully comfortable being a King, he can be an overall good player but develops a bit of a competitive edge to him...one of those, you better not F with us but I'm definitely going to F with you, especially during the playoffs kind of player.

It's crazy to think how much prospect depth this team has. Remember when we were all freaking out about losing Clague? Not so much any more. I just hope that Blake and Co. have an asset plan in place and don't misjudge any talent. So far, Blake has exceeded my expectations.

I' m still pissed they waived Clague over Maatta

There's a name I haven't heard in a loooong time. A long time.

If we are talking about the same guy, I chatted with him in St. Louis during the 2013 playoffs. I think he lived in Nashville then. I always liked him and thought he had good knowledge of the game, but could get why he rubbed some people the wrong way (no pun intended :) ). Still unfortunate though when good members stop posting.

Would you trade that package + for TJ Miller?

No to Hertl as he is a rental and has not said the most glowing things in the past about the Kings. JT Miller absolutely you make that trade every day. I think Miller definitely gets the Kings over the hump and into a playoff spot, if we are keeping up with Vegas he doesn't cancel out Eichel completely but he makes up a very decent chunk of it. He helps the Kings in just so many different ways. This years draft isn't great and if you trade for Miller the pick is going to be worse than it is without him. Turcotte isn't going to be a regular on this years team and is just buried by the center depth the team has, plus he is trending down from where he was taken in the draft. This would be a great deal to cash in some excess prospect/draft capital for a proven asset.

Time is running out for Lias. He is 24 this year and has never established himself as an NHL player despite being a Top-10 pick five years ago. With his contract expiring my guess is he's in the KHL or SHL next season.
