Funny thing is, and maybe it is just me, but the entire point of pushing for the development of younger, talented players to be the priority over chasing the immediate playoffs somehow means that you "hate" the older players or want the team to lose so you can be "right", when in reality its the overwhelming desire for the team to get better faster. That always seems to get lost in the back and forth.

I just took the better part of a week away because that shit was wearing on me and I wasn't reacting to that nonsense in a manner that allows me to actually enjoy talking about something we all collectively love. We all want the Kings to win.

I engaged in some really, really heated arguments over the years, mostly on LGK, threats of violence and even one death threat in pms, never thought it was a good idea to block anyone because everyone is entitled to their opinions. But man, I blocked the shit outta this place this year and I gotta say, it really is much better. Sure, some stuff is hard to understand with the missing posts, but I rationalize it by knowing that their actual posts weren't all that coherent anyway.
LOL!! Not me, I want the Kings to lose when it proves my point!

In case some of you who think I truly hate Kopitar think I mean this, you need to chill out a bit on the hero worship.

Dude, I'm genuinely so sorry reading of the nasty PMs and death threats. I know we've gotten into it, and I won't lie that us talking around each other drove me nuts, but nobody deserves that.

I'm glad to have you back. Look forward to having more talks.

Not cool at all.

This place really hasn’t been so much fun recently, it’s had a complete sense of humour bypass at times. The point of this place is to discuss and debate and the differences of opinion are what make it interesting. If people can’t do that without crossing these sorts of lines then they need to consider not posting at all. We all want the Kings to succeed, even is we can disagree passionately on how we get there, so please can everyone remember that.

As a suggestion (for us all) ask yourself when posting during an argument, “Would I be happy if someone spoke to my mum/sister/dad/ son/daughter/wife/husband like this”? If not rewrite your post.

LGK is like the wild west and I'm not surprised at all terrible dm's get sent to others on that board. I left because of the same reasons, a certain group runs that board and if you don't agree with their take, it's a personal attack and the gloves come off.

Never been on LGK......and suffice to say, almost no one here....ever agrees with my take lmao....

But in all seriousness, it's a freaking game....for everyone, Kopitar down to Clarke.....they are playing.....a game, everyone is going to have their favorite players, or hated players, or this or that etc, that's called life, and yea, how you talk to someone does matter, most of my sarcastic shit goes over the heads of everyone because well two reasons, A. it's a message board, and B. I don't care that it's a message board....

A lot of people I've tangled with, because I disagree with their takes, based on the fact that A. I don't have a favorite player, hell, I barely have a favorite team, I grew up with LA way way way way before the Gretzky years....well maybe not way way....but definitely before he got there, I remember as a kid meeting so many Kings and OTHER teams players at the old pad in Culver City, running amok beneath the forum etc, so thats why the Kings are my team, but players, don't care about them in as so far as I like to watch them play, but replace Dionne with Gretzky, Gretzky with Kopitar, Kopitar with Byfield....the team is still the same....

Having said all that, when people set their takes on bad reads, or bad eye tests, and use bad stats to try and prove a bad point, yea, I'm gonna call them out on it, for instance....everyone here is absolutely BLASTING Maata....all day every day....and I don't see it, he's not a top 4, but he's a solid 5-6, he makes good reads, is aggresive offensively, is serviceable defensively, he's not a fringe player by any stretch the imagination, his biggest knock, is he makes too much, what is it, 4 million?

The problem is there is no perspective any more, Maata plays on 32 of 32 teams, hands down, there's not one team that doesn't use him the 5-6-7 role, but we want our 5-6 to be 3-4 everywhere else etc, and that's not realistic....same thing with Brown, Brown is a serviceable 3rd line winger right now, helping rookies break in, etc, should he be resigned, no, is he as terrible as everyone moans about...no.

Anyways, that's my spiel there, take most of my post with grain of sarcasm, and you will be fine, it's nothing personal....

Colorado fans been loving Big Mac.

He's been getting significantly more ice time as the seasons gone along.

I love this picture so much. MacDermid has a baby brother.

Quite a bit of Kings content in this week’s column.

There were quite a few sections on the Kings, all good ponits. My favorite was this one, with Drew Doughty paying it forward. (Matt Greene's influence lives on)

It sure helps that
Drew Doughty was motivated to have a great season. Even though he was injured for a while, his impact’s been enormous.

“Sunday night at dinner, he makes sure to sit down with Durzi and (Arthur) Kaliyev,” Blake said. “He’s now like Matt Greene or Sean O’Donnell when Drew started out. Against the top teams and the top players, you can see it -- he still has a ton of pride in defending. He wanted to be on the Olympic team and knows he might not get to be on the power play, (thinking) ‘that Cale Makar is a heck of a player, but I can shut down guys.’”

I think it is wearing on all of us honestly. There has to be a balance at some point. Glad you stuck around. I respect your opinions and you make the boards a better place.

To say that immaturity is the defining characteristic of LGK is being too generous. I have not visited in over a decade and would never contemplate returning. Please keep posting here, I enjoy reading what you have to say.

The most worrisome nugget is that Blake said he would sit down with Dustin Brown over the break to discuss his future. Hopefully, it is a front office or staff position. Blake cannot seriously contemplate signing DB for another season for 'leadership' can he? Professional sports are a ruthless business. Time to tell Dustin to hang up his skates.

Biggest boost to the playoff hunt would be replacing Brown with a kid on a hot streak in Ontario or an established NHL'er.

Well, that & getting Maatta out of the lineup.

I know it's an unpopular take, but to me Brown can comeback so be it is in a limited role. Less is more with him at this stage and he's shown to be fine and to various degrees productive getting 12-15 minutes a night. In the 24 games he plays more than 15 minutes a night, Brown has two goals and 10 points. In the 16 games he's played less than 15 minutes, he has four goals and 10 points. Take him off the powerplay and play him 14 minutes a night and he's a solid contributor still.

Much of the Brown hate I think comes from the fact he looks dreadful playing a role he simply should not be playing anymore and as the kids continue to emerge he'll be asked to play that top role less and less. In his last 16 games he's only played over 15 minutes twice and he has three goals and 10 points in that span. I'm happy with that kind of production from a third liner.

Man the Brown hate is getting out of control.

If he re-signs a one year low cap deal to be a depth forward that is great IMO. "talking about his future" could mean Brown wants to retire this year, and would like to be dealt to a contender this deadline too.

Either way we should all enjoy the hell out of one of the best kings in the teams history while we still can.

I don't hate Brown. His play is becoming a problem. Don't see how the Kings stay in the playoff pack with Oilers, Flames making up games while tanking a line with Brown.

The pacific three teams will be Vegas, Edmonton and Calgary. They are just at a different stage of team building process than where LA is at. I do think a wild card is not out of the question.
I also do not think Brown playing 3rd line winger is tanking that line.

Tell me again how Brown is dragging the team into the depths of despair..

Sorry, but I completely disagree.

I couldn't give a rats ass if they benched Brown every other game during the regular season, but there sure as hell aren't any kids from Ontario (now that Byfield and Arty are already on the Kings) that I'd want suiting up in Game 1 of the playoffs. I want someone who's been there and done that to lead the charge (and drill someone through the boards to set the tone). One of the most iconic plays from the '12 playoffs was Brownie absolutely destroying one of the Sedins and setting the tone. This year, he absolutely wrecked Suzuki on 3 vs 3 hockey which directly led to a OT win.

Make no mistake, Brown won't be sniffing the Top 6, but that's OK. He's got a role for the playoffs that the kids just aren't capable of.

you may not post often but when you do it is on point

Dude, I'm genuinely so sorry reading of the nasty PMs and death threats. I know we've gotten into it, and I won't lie that us talking around each other drove me nuts, but nobody deserves that.

I'm glad to have you back. Look forward to having more talks.

None of that happened here, and truth be told I enjoyed it at the time. But the general tone of our society is so aggressive now that typically you can't disagree with someone without using derogatory or inflammatory words to make a point, it just takes the fun out of stuff. I am no different, but its almost always in response and not initiated. Sometimes you just need to check out for a bit and settle down.

A lot of the subjects I like to talk about are more theoretical in nature, and they come into conflict with those that are more black and white or practical. There is plenty of room here for different perspectives and experience levels of hockey talk, but those two meet and you have to sift through a lot of situations that aren't related at all and turn ugly for no reason at all. Last week I was talking about the need to limit or remove Kopitar from the PK because his play has slipped. That got turned around by someone who ignored that topic and tried to turn it into a breakdown of who was responsible for the goal behind him when that had absolutely nothing to do with the point at hand, even though my original post had a disclaimer literally saying that. One goal is nothing, but a season long run of poor PK form is something worth talking about.

That was me, and it was because you were using BAD EVIDENCE....to try and prove a LARGER POINT....

I don't know how that even works, it's like arguing that the sky is blue....by pointing at the dirt.....I have no issue with discussing taking Kopitar off the PK...but by using BAD EVIDENCE....I'm not seeing it.....show me GOOD evidence....and let's have that discussion.
