Are we allowed to talk about Voynov and his physicality?

Half those players you named are centers and none of them play like AA. He has size speed skill and toughness. What other prospect plays like that?
Yep,
Turcotte and Vilardi are natural centers likely to play wing, so the point stands. The fact that they don’t play like AA is a good thing. His strengths don’t exist in vacuum so looking at him as a whole player, he’s not one that fits on a teams that has aspirations of becoming competitive. It’s not as if he’s 21 and has upside, right now he is in what should be his prime so no, I don’t see the fit.

Is there another "AA" player on the LA Kings that I am not aware of? Are we talking about the same guy?!?

AA is a good stopgap player, tenacious with speed, a little streaky but effective 5 on 5. I wouldn't complain if he re-signed for some reason, but I am leaning more towards letting him walk. He is probably looking to go to free agency anyway and letting him walk frees up some cash and opens of the roster a little more for the prospects.

Durzi will be the interesting one this offseason. He is a RFA and may have himself a 2-3 year $2 million+ average bridge deal if he keeps up his play. He went from very long shot to an almost certain 3-6 option in an instant in a contract year. I am now hoping for a Sean Walker deal, but hopefully better :P

Turcotte is a natural center but has looked just as good on the wing…
Vilardi was projected to be a center but if memory serves me right, he was dominating as a RW during his draft year and D+1

Edit: I still don’t see the issue with them being centers? That’s what the Kings look for.. versatility with their centers… Toffoli, Nolan, Carter.. etc

LA should make a claim for Koekkoek...probably won't but I would like it

that's CUCKOO!
The adjective cuckoo, which means 'crazy', only arrived in the early 20th century but already seems dated. Its earliest recorded use is in the works of P. G. Wodehouse. Cloud-cuckoo-land is a place of unrealistic fantasy; it is a translation of the name of the city of the birds in Aristophanes' comedy 'The Birds'.
Pronouncing Koekkoek as Cuckoo is actually Cuckoo.

Size does not equate to being physical.

I keep seeing people on here quote getting players with size but they play like Jeff Schultz.

Vince Dunn plays a much more mean game than a JC and he's like 3 inches smaller.

Agreed, I'll take Romanov on this team if he learns how to actually play D and not go after making big hits all the time that gets him out of position. Voynov was a smart hard player that uses body positioning but how many Slavas are available for trade?

The game is so soft now that these big mean D men can't even lay the lumber on guys standing in the crease. Come playoff time when whistles go missing these are the men you want on your team.

I have Romanov just behind Sergachev on my want list.

He has the potential to be such a good #2/3 defensemen if he figures it all out.

Yeah, we've been pointing out these stats for a while now. Danault/Kempe is far superior to Kopi/Iaffalo on the PK. Hell, Lizotte/Moore is too. In part because they're responsible for 5 shorties I think. The first line isn't that great in 5v5 either. Prior to the last game they were 24th out of 30 first lines in goal differential. That's GF/60 - GA/60 - GD. That's right, a negative goal differential.

Yeah it usually goes like this

"I think Kopitar/Doughty is still a phenomenal player but needs his minutes reduced because it's affecting his play at all strengths and hurting those around him too"

"lol bad fan, how can you complain about that"

*points out how they're the only line losing all their matchups at literally every game situation*

"you just want to hand kids all the time? they've got to EARN it"

*points out how they're statistically twice as productive*

"yeah but we won so who cares, maybe we'll lose next time so you can be happy"

*points out how this would help us win, preserve Kopitar/Doughty, and give the kids some growth time*

"yeah but Brown got a point on the PP so suck it"

please put another coin in the merry-go-round so we can do this again

Nailed it.

You'd think it would be especially damning on the PP. 7 team SHG against...Kopitar has been on for 6. No other player has been on for more than 3. PK, see above. ES...out of kings with 150 minutes, he's 17th of 20, dead last amongst Cs, with 49% GF%....on the flip side you have Danault at friggin 67%, Lizotte 60%. And several kids that are getting dicked around from W to C and vice-versa in the high 50s despite being on the shipwreck 3rd line.

There is just no sane reason to not reduce Kopitar's all around minutes when other players are MUCH more effective in every situation. There are better PKers, better 5v5ers, better PPers. Save that man. And I'm saying that out of love for the guy, not hate.

It’s early, but this has post of the year potential.

Funny thing is, and maybe it is just me, but the entire point of pushing for the development of younger, talented players to be the priority over chasing the immediate playoffs somehow means that you "hate" the older players or want the team to lose so you can be "right", when in reality its the overwhelming desire for the team to get better faster. That always seems to get lost in the back and forth.

I just took the better part of a week away because that shit was wearing on me and I wasn't reacting to that nonsense in a manner that allows me to actually enjoy talking about something we all collectively love. We all want the Kings to win.

I engaged in some really, really heated arguments over the years, mostly on LGK, threats of violence and even one death threat in pms, never thought it was a good idea to block anyone because everyone is entitled to their opinions. But man, I blocked the shit outta this place this year and I gotta say, it really is much better. Sure, some stuff is hard to understand with the missing posts, but I rationalize it by knowing that their actual posts weren't all that coherent anyway.

I still think Tkachev should be on the team.

Send Kupari back down for a bit; VT would improve our PP in a heartbeat.

Which all makes it more confusing why Danault's PK time is down about 30 seconds a game from last year and slightly behind Kopitar's this year. A lot of people complain about Kopi's ice time (not me, but many posters do) and it'd seem an easy way to shave a shift or two a night off that total by sticking Danault out over Kopitar.

How are his PP numbers in the AHL?
