Kaliyev is probably the one forward prospect i think grew their game the most this year. Sure he did not score at the rate I had hoped, but his all around game looks much much better.
That does not make him untouchable to me, but he cost is elevated IMO.

I think that is a bit over the top, they have some really good players, especially their two American stars. Sutter is a great coach but he isn't some guaranteed ticket to success. The 2015, 2016 and 2017 Kings are proof of that.

To be an average middling team would be to have them where the Kings/Stars and Preds are. They had 12, 14 and 15 more points than those teams, not sure a coach is worth that many points, that is a lot of points.

**Ok maybe if Willie Desjardins was the coach instead.
2013-14 - 100 points, cup win after 3 game 7 wins on the road
2014-15 - 95 points, Voynov suspended with pay, Richards drama, missed playoffs by one point
2015-16 - 102 points, lost to eventual Cup finalist
2016-17 - 86 points, Quick missed 60 games, Kopitar/Toffoli injured, defense fully committed to making you think Peter Budaj was an NHL goaltender

Sutter is about the closest thing there is in this league to guaranteed success as long as your measure for success isn't "Win the cup or you're a failure"

The Kings WERE an average middling team before he showed up and completely fell apart after he left

Frk and Tynan seem to be sucking up the top minutes together instead of being split between lines of prospects without giving either a legitimate shot in the NHL.
I'm pretty confident the 'top' prospects (not Frk and Tynan) have been given quality time in the A this year -- please prove me wrong. (it's f***ing hilarious this conspiracy theory that the org is trying to keep the kids down...lol, like that's going to help anyone ..no offense, but it's just such an ignorant take)

I agree, but he also has a shelf life

No idea about the conspiracy theory you're referencing.

I mean, the AHL doesn't publicly release time-on-ice data so no one can "prove" you wrong but for anyone who actually watched the Reign this past season, it was Frk and Tynan were getting the top minutes at forward.

This narrative that Danault was signed as 2nd center and that means they gave up on our center prospects is such horse shit. Danault was clearly signed for what he was to be a 2nd center FOR NOW, and then slot lower in the line-up as a very good 3rd liner as he aged. Nobody really knew that he'd blow up as much as he did.

He'd be 2A/2B with Kopitar like a Stoll/Handzus deal by the last year of Kopitar's contract which would be Year 3 of Danault's contract. Byfield, obviously, would be the 1C.

They never drafted all of these centers to keep all of them at center or to keep all of them regardless. Problem is you'd expect the higher pedigree ones to be producing enough to have good trade value but Byfield is the only one that still has that and it is lower than it was this time last year. That's not a big deal though because the whole plan still hinges on him being that guy anyways.

You can say "giving up" is horse shit but it was a definite hedge and, at best, a loss of faith. When fanboy Jim Fox is trotting out that the Kings always envisioned Turcotte as an elite 3rd line center and Vilardi is playing wing in Ontario, things aren't exactly going to plan.

How much cap space do the Kings have for next season? The sight I look at say abot twenty million in cap space. Is that right.

I’d like to agree with you. Feel the Free agency cost would be high.

One name I’m leaning towards is Debrincat. Young (24) and an excellent scorer. Adequate defensively. What do you think the cost would be? 1st + Byfield? 1st + Madden + Kaliyev? He fits the bill for first line winger.

If where going to put our chips in for a forward, Kyle Conner is the one I'd be after.

how about you try to prove yourself right instead of having everyone do your homework for you before smearing shit on it anyway and going "lol didn't read"

Oh that's right, you can't...

What are you babbling about? If there was a site that showed TOI for the A, I would. This concept of the top prospects being buried on the 3rd/4th lines of ONT is bullshit. I watched enough of their games to stand my that statement, turbo.
