I wonder how Forsberg's playoff performance affects his number. Maybe not much for non playoff teams, but for the Kings and teams like them?

Looking at this clip package, he seems to score by going to the slot and taking punishment.

I didn't watch the Predators-Avalanche series. Any insight from someone who did on how he was?

Forsberg would be an insane get for us, but I do wonder what the cutoff is for cap hit. Can we afford $30 million tied up in three players?

Kempe - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Forsberg - Danault - Arvidsson
Moore - Byfield - Grundstrom
Lemieux - Lizotte - Iafallo

At the same time, where do Vilardi, Kupari, Anderson-Dolan, Turcotte, and others fit?

If money is a driver for Forsberg I can't see him giving up that 8th year that Nashville can offer as well as the zero state taxes. A Nashville friend mentioned that the team is willing to give Forsberg an 8 year deal. If he likes living in Nashville then I'm pretty positive he'll be scoring goals for the Preds next year.

This is pretty much it. If money is the goal he would never consider LA. I would love him on the Kings, but his cap hit and durability are big question marks to me.

After Kempe, Anderson, Durzi and if we keep Lemieux, Grundstrom sign we have around 10 million left of the cap. Thanks to the GM that also has 11 million tied up in goalies next year...lol

We are not signing Forsberg. Look for a couple 3-5 million in cap players. Palat, Reilly types. Or cheaper like Domi.

Come on Arvidsson convince Forsberg to come to LA. If he does want 10m a year though he'll probably end up on Vegas 🤣

Kings can have more money if they will trade Roy, Walker and Iafallo for draft picks…

You're probably right, but I wanted to see if I could do it anyway. Here are the moves I think we could make to get Forsberg and Provorov on the team and stay under cap:

1. Trade Sean Walker to Buffalo for a 2nd round pick
2. Trade Matt Roy to Vancouver (or elsewhere?) for some combination of picks
3. Trade Alex Iafallo, Helge Grans, and LA's first for Ivan Provorov
4. Sign Forsberg, 6 years $9 million

Forsberg - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Kempe - Danault - Kaliyev
Moore - Byfield - Grundstrom
JAD - Lizotte - Kupari
Vilardi, Andersson

Provorov - Doughty
Anderson - Clarke
Bjornfot - Durzi
Spence

Quick
Petersen

That's leaves us with just over $1 million in cap space next season. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we trade some of our younger guys (Vilardi? JAD?) to have a better bottom six next season too.

I didn't consider trades, which of course is an option. It will be tight(cap wise) to fit another 9-10 million player regardless but it will also depend on how they feel about the kids. If they can be given bigger roles next year or not.

I would argue trades are the more likely route taken to upgrade the key spots.

Kopitar's deal is also up in two years. We shouldn't spend like insane of course, but we have room for a smart signing, 8x7 ish, for a player like Forsberg.

We should t be matching money to money, but if Forsberg wanted to be on a gutsy team on the rise, we'd be a good fit.

Isnt he signed already and word was if he wasnt out last training camp he would have made the team?
I'm assuming you mean Clarke? He contracted mono towards the end of training camp, otherwise we would have had to make some early decisions on defense. Wonder what that might have meant for Durzi and Spence.

Yea I was talking about Clarke. I remember reading that

Since Faber is highly thought of around the league and appears he would prefer the Wild maybe they can work out somethng for Fialas rights he is restricted and would be a great get and i believe younger and cheaper than forsberg

You know probably because it's still fresh but something we dont' talk about enough is FA perception of this team...I think the playoffs will have opened some players' eyes, guys like to be part of something special that hasn't quite been 'over the hump,' ie teams will start joining the LAs/Floridas/TOs over the TBLs right now and we have to capitalize on that to some degree

I know we'll always struggle with ufas because of several factors but yes, the window is cracking open
