The last guy who played for the Kings like AA was Kovy. If he played a full year, no one would be surprised if he scored 15 goals. The only difference is three years of guaranteed money at 3 times the cost.

Athanasiou is a bridge to nowhere. Absolute insanity to give him a third shot, and more importantly, its a real indictment on management that you would need the same bridge three years in a row.

I don't care what he is capable of, what he does do should and can be covered by a prospect without any real consequence.

Colorado has 3 UFA's: Kadri, Burakovsky and Nichushkin.
Kadri is a center...but like Burakovsky LW and Nichushkin RW. Both are 27 yrs old.

Been banging the Kadri drum for awhile. Tough to play against for sure if you can run Kadri-Danault-Kopitar down the middle.

Bertuzzi would be a big get for sure. 27, not a ton of mileage, just potted 30 goals, and plays with a physical edge. He has one more year at $4,750,000 before becoming a UFA though.

Where are Byfield, Vilardi, JAD, and Bjornfot in your lineup though?

I also wonder if we could snag Lawson Crouse from Arizona too, maybe for Vilardi?

Byfield belongs in the AHL until he earns his time in the NHL. Kid has skill, but needs time to develop it and also needs to log big minutes to improve on stamina. If JAD can go to the AHL without hitting waivers sending him there as well , if not he can be the extra forward along with Vilardi and Bjornfot be the 7th D

Iafollo, Roy, Walker, Bjornfot, Vilardi and the 1st rounder are available to make the trades happen

I’d pass on Gallagher, Not interested in a another small forward, which would probably move Kaliyev off the team. Would love Crouse, but he won’t come cheap

I like all of those names separately and they're all realistic

Bertuzzi, Kadri, Graves, Crouse, Deslauriers, yes even Gally.

The trick is balancing that with massaging in youth.

But Graves or Soucy (or Chairot) as a bottom two pairing PKing LD would make me happy and would be an upgrade on the Edler role.

Kempe was by far the leading scorer on the team at 35 goals. He won't be on that third line. Gotta keep him with Kopi and add a complementary player on the wing that will really push that line over the top. Hopefully it's one of the young guys but i'd prefer to see a leader/impact guy acquired and get the young guns more minutes on the 3rd line. I'd have Kupari/Byfield/Vilardi and then that 4th line looks good to me.

Keeping Kopitar as the #1c is a big problem. He should not automatically get the best wingers and top role next year. Others should get a look. Also keeping all the rookies down together in the bottom six again will be a disaster.

I moved Kempe down to team him with his future C and hope they build chemistry..
I have Kopitar a shooter in Kaliyev and a fast, physical and potential Kempe clone in Kupari.. what Kopi really needs are less minutes and a big guy to park his ass in front of the net…
Danault makes anyone good so imho, anyone can play with him.. more size would be nice though

The real question his who goes and who comes in right?? We have the assets to get just about anyone or we could move some guys for more assets and use the cap space on a another Danault type impact player..

As much as I was a critic of Kopitar this year and how he looked to be laboring, he had 67 points. Next closest guy is Kempe at 54 points. Kopitar is 100% our #1C next year. Listening to everyone's interviews, Kempe commented on how he liked more consistently w/ linemates (Kopitar) and Kopitar was effusing praise on Juice for his 35 goals. I think if Blake can find a good power forward type guy (Bertuzzi, etc..) to stick on that line next year, it will pay dividends.

The guys in the bottom 6 are younger but they are a bit insulated not playing in 1st/2nd line positions and not having to cover the other team's top talent or expected to be the primary scoring threat. Can mix and match a veteran player for a little more line stability, but those lines showed some good potential this year imho.

Lizotte impressed me the most in the bottom 6. He seems more like a veteran player even though he's only 23. He was also the 5th best +/- on the team at +15. He's a perfect fit for that 3rd/4th line center position.

No way in hell are we taking that contract even at 50% retained.
