The thing with the PP is that historically it’s been a strength of TMac as a coach. His teams have had good PP results and he’s also been a successful assistant coach running a strong pp. It does make me question if it’s players not executing or having too much say on things.

He‘s done a first rate job 5/5 and no Doughty definitely affects the PK although it’s not the only issue but the lack of trying something different surprises me hugely. I note the ‘shock‘ in the game day thread a QB getting PP time against the Oilers but people need to pay attention rather than looking just for things to complain about. He had already started to get more PP time down the stretch and certainly played on the second unit during the game in Minnesota, I was there for. He was actually on the point for some of it. So he has been getting some looks there. That doesn’t take away from the need to shake up the first unit, or at the very least stop leaving them out there for so long.

Was circling some players i think we should eye at possibly.
Hadyn Fluery could be a nice left side presence
Andrew copp could bring some scoring to our 3rd line
Kevin Fiala would look pretty good next to kopitar wild most likely won't be able to retain him and we have some pieces to move.
Just kind of spit balling probably way off but was doing some thinking today.

Haydn Fleury brings nothing new in that we don't already have.

We need a McNabb/Zadorov/Lauzon like player.

These are the Ufa's I'd like us to look at. I especially like Marchment and Deslaurier as a replacement for Lemieux.

Zadorov
Nichushkin
Deslaurier
Forsberg
Sanford
Niederreiter
Copp
Marchment
Chiarot
Palat

Replacing our one tough guy is just taking another step back in that department.

I'd like Zadorov for sure. I'd prefer Soucy.

Am I the only one that thinks Fiala is just Kempe when he comes here?
It’s a possibility, but lurking on Minny’s board they have Fiala pegged as the driver of his line, deployed lower down the lineup and generally with lesser players to spread out the offence. I would never think of Kempe in any of those ways, who spends 70 out of 82 as a (talented) passenger. Entirely different tiers of players.

You can argue Fiala would get tougher matchups here so the offence may dip, but he’d see more PP time than he was getting in Minnesota. His linemates would be comparable. I think his floor is likely a better output than anything Kempe has had, maybe even will have.

Disagree, Kempe is the zone entry/exit machine so much so that the power play entries run thru solely him.

But agreed on the floor, he's def. got a higher production floor than Kempe. I just see both guys as that upper-middle class of player that breaks a teams salary cap when they try too hard to keep them.

They do have pretty similar profiles.

My takeaway from the first three games against the Oilers is that the Kings haven't cultivated/coached enough skilled players able (or willing) to play with an effective physical edge.

It's been really interesting to see the Oilers both out-skill the Kings on the rush/power-play and physically punish the Kings along the boards in all zones. I would have guessed the Kings would be able to hand out the board punishment.

I don't really consider Lemieux as a tough guy due to his stature, I see him more as an agitator. I'd be fine with keeping him but we definitely need someone bigger to pair with Lizotte.

Exactly. Lemieux is thrust into the tough guy role whereas last year he had Big Mac with him. Kings really need a more mobile version of MacD. I really wanted Blake to take a run at Middleton, but Blake was asleep at the wheel during the deadline.

That's why I want Deslaurier he can pot 10, skates well, and is a good penalty killer

Better in game 4, obviously!

Some of you guys need to look up the definition of the phrases you use.

No cheap 25 year old goalie with some experience to trade. They already have 4/5 options on the left side. Most of all, everyone says the team isn't a contender, and Middleton ain't moving that needle, so you want to give up more assets than a 7th rd pick, to likely end up in no better position than the Kings are in at this very moment?

A UFA winger that intrigues me is Mason Marchment.

6'4 210lbs. Known for being physical and sticking up for teammates. Good at both ends of the ice.

Him and Trevor Moore have a history together.

Marchment's 47 points in 54 games look even more impressive when you consider he doesn't play on the PP.

Marchment asked about playing with Trevor Moore in the beginning of this interview:

I know him saying that is probably obligatory, but it's cool knowing these guys came up together and played together.

Florida doesn't have much cap space. They probably want to keep him, but will be difficult to retain.

I wonder how Forsberg's playoff performance affects his number. Maybe not much for non playoff teams, but for the Kings and teams like them?

Looking at this clip package, he seems to score by going to the slot and taking punishment.

I didn't watch the Predators-Avalanche series. Any insight from someone who did on how he was?
