I watch the road broadcasts just about every game (unless it’s Boston, Pittsburgh or Anaheim) mostly because of how bad our broadcast is but also to see what other broadcasts and players say about the Kings. Kopitar is one of the most respected and highly thought of players in the league, you listen to other players mention him in interviews about the Kings and you can tell just how good a player he has been his whole career and continues to be even today.

Apparently everyone in the hockey world did not get the memo that Kopitar is a washed up bum, who can't play anymore.....

There are some people who have had unfair criticisms of Kopitar nearly his entire career, who don't truly realize or appreciate all that he does and why he's so well-respected around the league.

This year is the first year where it seems Kopitar has actually regressed a bit. It's kind of sad to see but inevitable. He's still a great player though. We're so lucky as fans that he landed in LA. Not just a great player but a quality human by all accounts. Alright, I'll get off my knees now...
He is still adjusting to the new system and is relearning how to be creative. Give him some time. I expect him to go out with a bang when his contract is up.

New system?
Compared to the Kopitar that used to skate behind the net and feed it back to the point on every shift, yeah, it's a new system for him. He just wants to coast out there, but he realizes that he has to use his skill now to succeed. No more automated Kopitar. It's still a new system for him. I suspect that the money's really gotten to him and he's gotten comfortable. He's shown flashes of talent a few times this season, but he is still really lagging. He's gonna either have to be traded or play out his contract here and re-sign somewhere else.

Holy shit that's such a bad take.....just.....wow.....

Did you really just say, he wants to coast out there? f***......that's brutal.

Brown had to go through a bit of a retooling and restructuring to salvage a few extra decent years out of himself between 2014 and now. Hopefully Kopitar follows his example to squeeze a few more years out. Not everyone is timeless like Bergeron.

About what? Kopitar's play? He's been playing that way his entire year....he's never had bambi f***ing legs out there....

But now...he has to rely on skill? I mean....seriously how f***ing bad is that take?
Kopitar is coasting out there. He's only 34. Not 81. He knows how to make plays, get to the middle of the ice, and play hard. He's not doing that. Honestly, the sooner he's off this team, the better. Byfield's in line to take his place, as I hope Turcotte will take 2C. That gives us great center depth. Kopitar's done. I hope he proves me wrong vs Edmonton. This'll be a good test of his resolve to see what he's got left, but his performance this season...pedestrian. I say this as a die hard Kings fan. I've definitely seen much better from Kopitar.

He’s definitely struggled at times this year and for the first time I can recall has done so defensively. However that seems to be fatigue related and he needs to accept he needs to work in the 16-18 minute range and shouldn’t do things like stay out for the entire pp. That doesn’t mean he’s been bad he’s just not met his own high standard.

I’ve always felt that his game would age well but that assumes his minutes are managed appropriately and between him and TMac they haven’t quite had it right across the season. I fully expect they will figure it out and have a strong plan for him going into next season especially as they managed him better down the stretch (not quite there yet IMO).

Again, such a horseshit take....there are really no words to describe how bad that take really is.

100% he's not the same player he was in 2012.......but the guy I was referring to is pretty much ready to old yeller him.....such a bad bad bad take.....

think it's the right choice for him and the right time for the org. no sense waxing poetic about the career cause the results speak for themselves, but a one-franchise player that climbed the mountain is a pretty monumental personal accomplishment. time to enjoy the fruits.
