If our first PP group includes Brown and AI, can we just decline any Hawks penalties tonight? Or maybe we just play with 4 skaters and tell TO Native Moore that we’re on a penalty kill.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Kaliyev is the savior of the franchise.
This is a bullshit post, and you know it.

You fully understand my point that Kaliyev is a sniper, a great passer and a born shooter.
Exactly what this franchise lacks and needs now desperately.
He leads the team in PP goals, despite being either off PP altogether or PP2.
He leads all rookies in shots despite 4th line utilization.

There is not a team in the NHL that would use this talent and production the way the Kings have this year.

Your intentionally ignoring all the valid points to make a sarcastic overexaggeration intended to make my post look stupid and ignorant is a dick move and you should knock this shit off.

The answer is Byfield.

Kopitar isn't going anywhere, for evey reason we've all already talked about for what seems to be 1000 years. I do not undersrand why people keep dreaming he'll be gone. Danault doesn't seem unhappy, so he's staying put too.

Byfield was drafted to be the guy. Maybe he's not, but there's no other option. If you want a new 1C, it has to be Byfield. And, despite whatever, he has to carry himself like one. His play on the ice does not say guy that can carry big minutes. He's not playing like Kopitar at the same age. Not the same ice time, blah, blah, but in his limited minutes, there's nothing efficient about those minutes

The top 4 centers seem pretty set for at least the next couple seasons.
I've never advocated for getting rid of any of the core, minus Brown. Byfield needs to step up for sure, but even if he does, there's still 1c spot up for grabs. Anybody not named Kopitar and Danault isn't guaranteed anything.

I think Byfield needs better coaching to make him into a better more dynamic player. Kopitar was already an offensive threat, but it was Murray that turned him into what he is today.

I disagree with the premise of drafting Byfield and slotting him at 1c for a few years. That’s just terrible roster management.

The 1C next year will be Kopitar, Danault, or Byfield. The other two will be the next two, and then Lizotte with be 4th.

Don't be so sensitive, this happens to me all the time.

RE: Kaliyev...I think he's going to be great, but I don't think he's half as good (right now) as what most the over-dramatic posters on this board suggest. Have seen him flub PLENTY of his opportunities in where an 'elite' player wouldn't. Again, not a Kaliyev hater, I just think he's young and he'll get better. He might just turn into the player you think he is in a couple years.

"Our leading PP goal scorer should be on PP2" is hardly a hot take worthy of the two pages of utterly angsty bullshit you just pulled out of your ass, he's right.

Kaliyev has definitely flubbed several glorious chances he's had this season but maybe you hold your stick a little tighter when it might be the only glorious chance you get for five games at a time.

Bottom line is he has a shot that can go in from anywhere inside the blueline and it should be used on the power play.

Kaliyev's Shot % is ranked 14th on the team....the only forwards worse are Brown and Andersson who has 0 goals. Put that in perspective...

And yet, with limited icetime and shit deployment, he's 7th on the team in goals.

You bank on a kid sniper being able to improve with more touches, not punish him with less.

4th line duty mean limited rushes, little space to shoot and shots from bad angles. Given a play making center and some line speed, Kaliyev shot percentage should go up.. its was 12% in the A last year TheAHL.com | The American Hockey League

And Kaliyev will have to unlearn 4th line tactics to play further up the lineup, hopefully next year. So there will another young player with another delayed learning curve from the role they were drafted to play.

Why?

That's making hockey more complicated than it is. As long as he's playing wing he doesn't to learn or unlearn anything new.
