LOL

here we go again with the change after a win

Hope he's just wrong but jesus christ come on

Why wouldn't Todd be in a rush to get one of the worst d-men this season in the NHL back in there?

Calgary is a bit better than SJ/Ana, perhaps they want more experience out there and keep Spence in a position to succeed. Jordan certainly has had sheltered starts and such. And Walker has picked it up of late.

That's probably the thought process. Not that I agree with it, I think Spence is as good or better than Walker right now, even with Walker playing better.

Hey I like Walker and I've found myself here defending him a lot more than most

But the lineup changes to pull a kid after a win are infuriating, especially because the same thought process is not followed after a loss

Plus re: sheltering we are at friggin home, if you're not going to play Spence on the 3rd pairing with an experienced LHD vet when you have the last change, you're expressing a vote of no confidence.

Worst part is they can't even send him down due to the roster freeze, so these poor kids get to just sit on their ballsacks. Anyone wonder what Fagemo is doing right now? Score, win, sit. f***ing maddening.

Everything concerning the d-corps from camp on forward has been chaos (aside from top pair). The last thing you want to do is create constant instability in the defense pairs.. and the 3-6 has been in constant flux with no rhyme or reason to the assignments. Who goes for 4R, 2L when you have a nice LD in Ontario? with follow up question: who else on this planet puts Durzi 2nd pair on his wrong side. Walker over Spence - highly debatable.. Koala clearly is not into development, but still even if you dont want to develop Spence and Bjornfot, they are still better than Walker and running 4RD 2LD.

Could be any number of things, maybe Spence feels a little tight after getting rocked late. But on merit? No, that would be problematic.

The fact that there is absolutely zero need to shelter Spence makes it even more head scratching. He played second pair minutes when everyone was injured and did well in the crucible of the playoff push. It's just stupidity. The kid was better LAST season than Walker ever has been.

But you sign Walker to a 4 year contract and this is the trash decision making you're forced into because this jalopy is paid for. Walker is negative value on the roster. That's the truth and there's no sugar coating it.

Maybe, or if we trade Roy/Durzi we'll have the assets to go after a LHD without having to give up our 1st round pick this year.

Roy actually leads all Kings defensemen in even strength points.

Roy is clearly the Kings best all around dman outside the top pair, so if we trade him it needs to be for something worthwhile. Gavrikov is rental, that's my concern.
Yeah, the rental part kills me..
I also think Marcus Pettersson could be a good get and he’s young-ish so he’d grow with this team by but again, what would it take to get him?

I also still see far too many people in here saying Matt Roy wouldn’t get a nice return. Keep in mind that guys of his ilk are rarely available and especially with term and a low ACV. He’d easily return a 1st +, which could set us up enough ti create a string package for a LHD or G

WTF is more "extra work" than playing in an NHL game?
And no one asks the coach that question?
Extra work in this case just means when we were leaving the morning skate Spence was still on the ice. The guys that won't play in the game that night usually hang back and get some "extra work" done because they won't skate that night.

It's just shorthand.

It's not shorthand, it's an idiotic and confusing way for DB to communicate, esp to fans who as you insiders know have very limited info due to: (1) restricted access and (2) no real accountability from outside the company media.

"Spence out for extra work" can be taken two ways, esp since this is emblematic for the vague way the organization communicates to fans about almost everything. I would expect a media person to translate to the fans in clear language not this inside baseball vague BS.

Thank you for the clarification.

i dunno, i think most of the time i've been following kings-related twitter "stayed on for extra work" has been understood to mean they're not in the lineup

i think generally it's followed by "so expect him to be out of the lineup" by let's say, hammond or rosen, but yeah, it probably could stand to be clarified when posted to the people who don't follow twitter shorthand. part of the reason i honestly hate twitter, people rush to be the first to say it sometimes at the expense of clarity

Button wrote an article on "7 Players to Watch" on Canada's World Junior Team:
Bedard, Wright, Zellweger, Stankoven, Roy, Schaefer, and prospect to watch Fantilli.

No Brandt Clarke, except a mention in the intro paragraph??
What the hell do Canadians have against this kid?

I hope he plays his ass off and outshines all of them.
