Wtf?
A generational talent like Bedard?
Fantili?
Going to non playoff teams at the bottom of the standings?
Losing team have room and put top tier guys like this in the NHL.
You are asking me this shiite about picks 1 and 2 in a deep draft.

You and team good old boy should stick to watching what you say, and not put words in my mouth.
Times are a changing in this world and in the NHL.
Got that T-Rex?
Fantilli won't necessarily be going to the NHL, he could potentially be spending another year in college although I doubt it, but he certainly won't be going to the AHL. And even still, regardless of their talent it's another example of Kings preferring AHL.
You can only say "times are changing" when the times actually change, until it becomes the norm for teams to stick their high draft picks in the AHL for a long period of time then it's not a changing time.

Kings have not drafted anyone on those two guys level since Kopitar.
I am not saying that more teams will use the AHL.
I am saying they are always changing in general new players, new trends, guys retiring, rule modifications, franchises ebbing and flowing.
Most non elite picks go through the AHL .
Exceptions are mostly teams that are not going to the playoffs.

Ok, I’ll assume you didn’t read the article and didn’t specially the part where he was 100% in on the Kings. The kid returned to Minny to win a championship and nearly did aaaaaaand now, he’s going to sign.

I was always really skeptical that Faber's intention was ever to play hard-ball with the Kings and wait it out to get to Minnesota. I think it was kind of an idea that was just started here based on speculation because of a fluff piece talking about his family. Of all the guys drafted each year you could probably find dozens who have unique family situations that would make them want to be closer to home, and most guys would always prefer to play closer to home, most guys aren't drafted by their home town team yet all those guys end up signing with the team that drafted them. If Faber had no intention of ever moving away from Minnesota he would never have moved to Plymouth, MI to play for the NTDP and would have just played high school hockey in the state.

The contract and $$$ is the other thing. He will sign with Minnesota, probably on Monday and his contract starts right away, he becomes a FA eligible for a second contract after the 24-25 season, had he played hard ball with the Kings he wouldn't have been able to sign with the Wild until September of 2024, and his ELC would not have ended until after the 26-27 season, it would have been a huge financial price to pay both in the short term and in the long term by waiting it out.

He didn't not want to play for the Kings (Reign) this season, he just preferred to try and chase one of his lifelong goals to win a national championship, and who could blame him, it's the Kings, he was going to be in the AHL, not really making a ton of money and living what can be a tough lifestyle or he could have returned to Minnesota, to play for his dream school on a loaded national contender. I think many people would have made the same choice.

Did you see the game?
Jordan Spence cost the Kings big time and got away with one that would have cost the Kings.
So much for young players, again.
Especially in games that have season ending implications.
I hope you were not one of the many guys that said he should be on the Kings and a starter.

It's hard for a player to get better in the NHL if he never plays in the NHL. Young players are going to make mistakes as part of the learning process. It would have been great if Spence was given more opportunities to fail, learn, and adjust earlier in the season, as opposed to now when things are apparently too tight for a single mistake.

The trade deadline is already a fail.

Potential scenarios:
1)You re-sign Gavrikov & Korpisalo and you lose other roster players like Iafallo and Arvidsson. This cancels out much of the roster improvement that was gained by acquiring Gav/Korp in the first place.

2) If you don't re-sign Gavrikov. You wasted a 1st round pick, and we're back to where we started with the almost same roster problems.

3) You give up expensive assets to get someone to take on Cal. That means you massively overpaid to get/retain Gavrikov & Korpisalo.

Blake traded for a guy who made it clear he wanted to test the market. It's a braindead move. So even if you do re-sign Gavrikov, it will likely be a highly risky overpay.

Then Blake gave up a draft pick for MacEwen. This move actively makes the team worse.
I disagree on Gavrikov because the amount of cap invested in the backend had to change, it’s too front end heavy. Obviously you move a forward you’d expect some assets back. If we don’t re-sign him it’s a much bigger concern. They also need to make room for Kaliyev in the top six/nine (or move him). There are simply too many vet forwards.

Also he made it clear he wanted to test the market whilst with CBJ. Now he’s out that MAY change, the context is different.

I think they likely swallow Cal’s cap for another 12 months. It’s the least bad option at this point anyway. It also gives us a 3rd choice vet to call up if needed.

I agree with all of that. I’m fine with the trade itself but the other noise around it was just conjecture and speculation.

Which has been the narrative all season around him and Clarke.

Walkers upside is bottom pair. Had Clarke been in the NHL all year he MAY have been a game breaking player by now. Given he’d outplayed Walker by his 9th game, it’s not unreasonable to think he’d be offering more than him no matter what his deployment was. Same with Spence on that final point.

I completely agree with this. F the ELC if you can get a generational player onboard and playing now. With the Kings two top scorers out of the picture (hopefully they will be back by the playoffs) what do they have to lose? Yes Clark will be great in the future but why not bring him in now? Spence as well keep in in and I am sure he will be an improvement over what is going on right now.

Are the Three Wise Men actually claiming all NHL teams will soon begin developing bluechip prospects in the AHL?

I have them on ignore because their collective wisdom hurts my puny mortal brain, so this thread has been a lesson in context clues.

I’d like to see Clarke get the call up for his playoff debut ala makar a couple years ago and dominate offensively. He doesn’t skate like cale, but he’s got the skills to make a difference in the o zone.

One can dream..
Unless I'm mistaken on the rules, he can't until their season ends

Bold of you to assume Clarke has worked on his +/- long enough to supplant defensive stalwart Sean Walker.

I didn't like the hit by Cogs, because I thought Kempe was a bit defenseless reaching to catch the puck and it was unnecessary, but no way did that hit warrant any kind of supplemental discipline.

Lemieux got his front teeth knocked out by Pitlicks stick.

Not even a 2 minute minor on the play.

What a disgrace, they treat him as a subhuman.

THe refs and the league needs to stop playing favorites and get their ship together.
