Danault is every other teams’ top line’s worst nightmare. Believe the hype. He’s outstanding defensively. McDavid is shook, knowing Danault is now in his division “permanently”.

Just beware, he’s a little prima-donna who will make a fuss about playing over your young Centers and want a more “offensive” role. ‘Tis is why many of us Hab fans wanted him out: we wanted to see players like Suzuki and Kotkaniemi (oops) succeed by having bigger roles, which at times seemed unlikely with “privileged” Danault in the fold (do remember, he’s a French Canadian who played for the Habs… the same team that recently favoured Drouin as a Center over actual Centers).

Regardless, I’m sure you guys will be very happy with him. He’s the real deal and will be a pain for everyone else to play against.

Since you've seen to have missed this (and felt the need to post about him being a "privileged" "prima-donna" who wants a more "offensive" role here on our board), here's this for your watching pleasure:

The Kings have been a bottom feeder in the league for a number of seasons now, so we are ok with him playing more offensive role because our offense sucks and our kids are a few years away from contributing on a nightly basis. The leadership role he'll play with this team will be an even bigger role with all of our young coming in.

It almost sounds like Toffoli joined us just because he loves our restaurants

Speaking of Toffoli, I just went through 32 pages in this Toffoli thread:
Player Discussion - Tyler Toffoli

And didn't see 1 Kings fan drop in to shit on Toffoli's shortcomings. You Hab fans are a salty bunch.

We already have Rob Blake as our GM and enough salt on our plate, don't assign us yours.

Imagine thinking Danault signed with the Kings without being aware of our center prospect depth. Which is a running theme amongst Habs fans.

Kings management presented the guy a years-long plan about how the Kings center depth will evolve over time, as will his role. Danault himself has talked about this in detail.

But thanks for the insight!

I really don’t get your hostility- I wasn’t posting to throw salt or shade at your team (?!). Regardless, best of luck this coming season.

Is this the first time you’ve been on a sports message board? You’re only allowed to visit another board to compliment our players and our transactions. Anything else is blasphemy and trolling.

I'd rather have Danault on the team than a battered up Tarasenko who would probably have the same offensive stats on the Kings.

He's just as advertised and I'd argue worth his contract. The issues with this team can't be rest at his feet. I bet the Habs are missing him far more right about now...

He was advertised as a solid second line center. He has 1 pt in 6 games and to be honest I can hardly remember him making a play on offense. We aren't going to win much if our second line Center has zero offensive responsibility.

Danault looks like a real good 4th line center, someone that can give a team 13 minutes including the pk.

Hopefully he picks it up on the offensive end, but I haven't seen much to be overly optimistic about that.

Clueless coach. Danault was brought in to mentor the prospects... then do it!!

Kaliyev Danault Vilardi should be a line if we want any sort of production from him and save Vilardi's career.

I would be perfectly fine with Vilardi on Danault's wing. Not sure i would put Kaliyev there though as I would expect a line with Danault and Vilardi to have a fair number of defensive zone starts or starts against tough matchups. Kaliyev should be sheltered.

Why do you need to be on a line with a guy to be mentored by him? A big part of mentoring is showing preparation and work ethic and things that come away from the games and even the rink. And frankly, if a guy needs anyone to "save his career" he probably isn't pro material in the first place.

I think it is putting him in best place to have a chance of success.

He needs to put himself there. Like he did playing with Andersson in camp. Andersson gets hurt and suddenly he's lost, so we reward that by putting him on a scoring line -defensive zone starts or not, they are expected to contribute offensively as well- when he's done nothing to earn that promotion since the season started? He's getting as much time or more than Kaliyev and Kupari and they are showing something at least, give them the spot.

fair, i think there is a lot of passengers outside of the top 3. Someone has to get moved up to change mix and try and get things going...why not him.

Fair as well, there is a lot of dead weight in some games. You'd think with the number of kids pushing for roster spots in the next two years we'd see more effort from some guys, but I suspect that's a locker room issue and it will sort itself out in short order. The vets like Doughty and Danault aren't going to encourage that for long.

Blaming Danault for the struggles of this team is horribly misplaced.

He is 100% as advertised, and playing well. The points aren’t gonna come for anyone until the entire team makes drastic changes to its play.
Define "playing well".

He brings next to no offense and has 1 point in 6 games. His heralded defense is not that great. He was pretty much eaten alive by Gurianov in OT one on one. There's really no player with whom he's had any chemistry with. He's Nick Shore with a $5.5 million AAV contract for 6 years.

He's not the only player who is struggling, but I don't see any reason to pat him on the back.

Punishing Vilardi for the whole team sucking is exactly the problem. You're 'sending a message' to the wrong guy and turning him into a lightning rod for an entire roster of stale bullshit.

If you're going to mix it up, move him up to a top-six wing position, don't bury him down below. And next to Danault would be awesome with PD's skating and playmaking as well as defensive awareness.

Again, everyone can see this but TM.
