Haven't you heard? We're busy talking down/making excuses for strong 5v5 production and metrics.

Thanks, happy visitor, your not-actually-mad-seething-bitterness doesn't show at all!

Don't say we didn't warn you.

Not bitter, just giving fair warning, so don't complain when he doesn't pan out. Take it as fair warning or shoot the messenger. You choose to shoot.

What if I told you that we don't give a flying f***?
Cut your own throat dibbler, enjoy your deal. Do whatever you like. I could care less. Just trying to make sure you guys don't have high expectations. Apparently some of you can't handle even mild critiques of players you don't regularly watch play.

Why would you give two shits about our expectations, troll?

2nd line, 3rd line, who cares. He will get more minutes than the kid in the other spot because there are more harder than soft shifts in a game. If he wins the majority of his shifts against the opposition's best and puts up 40 points, golden.

If you are disappointed that he doesn't meet your projected expectations of a second liner because he doesn't have what amounts to one more secondary assist every 5 games, whatever.
We have Kopitar for those secondary assists. Sorry guys, it was a lay up.

We can handle mild critiques.

But when those visitors can't be assed to look at the first 24 pages and realize the above has been addressed ad nauseum, they're subject to being pinata'ed. Don't take it personally, you're just one of 50 clones.

Its a good bet the Kings see the playoffs again before the Habs. Nothing against Montreal, but like I mentioned before, they are a stylistic outlier who require good fortune to capitalize on what is really an unusual roster and style of play. They won't get the soft Canadian touches they received in last year's alignment - the Kings are getting some of them back to go along with the Pacific softies.

The Kings bottomed out but are a damn good bet to rise up, where as the Habs have been perpetual water-treaders for 25 years, last years fluke run withstanding. We will be very happy to have Danault even with the UFA tax/bloated cost.

I honestly dont care if he gets 40 points to be honest. If he does play 18 -19 mins a game hes takes ice time from Kopitar which will allow him to extend his career with a easier load Kopitar is the real person he will help. Have him play lesser matchups and less time on ice He can Focus on playing offense and get more offensive zone starts. Bayfield/jad / vilardi who ever else will play 3 c will get the cushy mins Susuki and KK played in Montreal and hopefully shine in them as they did..

Someone hasn't been paying attention to the crap show that is the LA Kings roster the past few years. There's currently a VERY low bar for on ice improvement....in case you haven't noticed. We're not looking for the one piece to put us over the top. Just looking to get out of the dumpster fire and begin ANY type of ascension upwards (even baby steps).

Why would you give two shits about our expectations, troll?
Are you accusing me of trolling? Jesus you are a touchy bunch. What have I trolled with? Oh right nothing. Told you how he played and all I got was attacked by a bunch of people who most likely never watched him play consistently. There is a whole divide on the habs board that accuses anyone critical of Danault as a "racist", even if the correct term would be bigot. He was played ahead of other players and got our best wingers, it will pad your stats.

Some on the habs board said he was almost bergeron good. He had a 6th overall selke nomination afterall!!!! Some said he would be a #1 center on half the teams in the league. So take some habs fawning over him with a grain of salt. He is an elite 3rd line centre. Can play second line in a pinch. I always said he was the habs equivalent to Bozak from the leafs-you played him on your top lines because you didn't have the horses at the time.

This isn't trolling. But if you feel that way maybe you are a little defensive of a player you don't already know. I watch about 80%+ of the habs games a year(work dependent), but I won't comment on western team players because I hardly see them play, let alone have a grasp on their overall game.

I hope he does well on the kings, maybe new scenery is what he needs. But man you guys went nuclear at the first hint of negatives for the guy. That is psychological projection; to protect ones ego when it is attached to your team. Honest statement about his limitations. Best season was 13 goals. Got his first goal in mid march 2021 had one goal dating back to mid january 2020. 14 months with 2 goals and 1 empty netter in the playin. Had 3 assists his first 10 games of 2021 while playing with gallagher and tatar. Phils head wasn't straight(contract issues with the habs, blame marc bergevin) so his D game also fell off a cliff, you can check habs GDT from last season. Not a bitter fan, I don't care that he left. Just giving my opinion on what I saw both eye test and stat wise.

I am happy to give the kids a chance because the habs are stuck with half a young core and the other half aging injury riddled older core players-see price, gally, weber and even petry (Anderson even) . They need to know what they have and what they should move. That Cinderella run doesn't change the fact the habs probably won't even make the playoffs unless KK Evans and suzuki make major improvements along with romanov and caulfield. Those guys get sophomore slumps and the others don't take steps forward and the habs will easily be a lottery team, if they aren't already one because of injuries anyway.

So yeah when people say his offense is limited-its not trolling. But sure Ill leave you guys to discuss this on your own. You will have plenty of time this season to make up your own minds on the quality of his D and O game. Hope you guys do well. Byfield looks like his has all the tools. A couple of dev years and he is going to be making a lot of noise. Cheers!

Well If I am a clone its because we have legit reasons for what is stated. Sorry I didn't have time to read all the pages I have been working 70 hours a week since the may 2-4 so my time has been limited until this week where we returned to normal 50 ish hours. Maybe if you had "assed" me to just look back I would have taken the time. I honestly didn't know.

I just wanted to see what you guys thought of him. We often have exchanges from other boards about players. Habs were split about 70/30 on Andy His early showing had some of us eating crow for having concerns over his injury, but he did later return to a more realistic player(some pro guys projecting him as a 70 point power forward-need that Santa meme for getting ahead of oneself) and ended the season as a middle six forward...pretty much the middle position of the pro vs anti groups.

You can be sure people will be checkin out and sometimes in on the Kings board once the season starts. To this day there is debate about Eller.

Cheers and have a good one.

The habs are a better bet to make the playoffs than the Kings according to oddsmakers. Both teams are long shots to make the post season, but the Kings odds are only better than 4 western teams, Nashville, San Jose, Arizona and Anaheim.

Bit late to this whole thing, but I don't think anyone here would be that devastated if the Kings still didn't produce offensively. We should expect it by now. That means any uptick will be celebrated.

Hell, Terry Murray had Handzus, Stoll and helped turn Kopi into a 2-way beast. If anyone appreciates Danault's player archetype and expectations, it's us.

Stoll wasn’t at his highest value to the team when he was point on the PP and scoring 40-50 points.

Stoll was an absolute asset to the cup teams as a hard to play against “3rd line” center scoring 20-30 points. Taking the fall for a snow day in Vegas didn’t hurt either.

Enter what is needed of danault. Kind of.
