Neither Gavrikov or Kayilev at practice.

I guess Morevare and JAD fill in.

Why don't they call up someone at forward...so baffled. JAD is mehhhh.
Probably Bjornfot, his conditioning has to be up soon I think.

JAD is fine on the fourth, but I'd be good with Fagemo getting a shot. He's earned at least that given his play lately.

On another note, just booked a trip to LA. Looking at tickets for the Oilers game on Feb 10th. What is the Lexus Club, and why are tickets so cheap on ticektmaster for this lexus club?
The Lexus club is lame. It’s basically a smaller, closed off version of the big buffet restaurant in the premier section. You have access to the same buffet items and a separate bar, but it usually ends up being crowded and crammed with people because it’s a much smaller room.

I'm talking in general, if AHL is dirtier, stands to reason there should be more matches, game misconducts related to majors etc, right?
I dont think they are as strict in the A as the NHL.. again thats a hunch but based on some of the hits I saw go uncalled like the ones against Clarke and Turcotte.. seems they let a lot more go. Id like someone who watches the A to comment

I suspected that the kings may have drafted him as doing a solid for the former turcotte family nhl ers
Since Blake's nephew is in hiding for a few days after back-to-back losses, i'll chime in here for him. As much as Blake annoys me, this comment is way off. To actually think Blake (or any GM) is going to use a top 5 pick (highest pick for Kings in many years at that time) as a "solid" to a family is just dumb. They made the pick because they thought it was a solid pick for the organization. To think otherwise is a bit goofy.

yeah
i thought the same after i wrote it.
but if turcottes issues were fairly evident to a casual fan (or fans) while he was in jr's, then what was the thinking here? that he would morph into milan lucic?
at trhe risk of sounding sentimental, i think whats happened to turcotte is very sad and points up a much bigger problem.

BTW, this upcoming summer we only have a 1st, 4th, 6th and a 7th.

We really need to re-stock the cupboard at draft a 1st.

Blake moved former firsts in Kupari, Vilardi and moved those 2nd round picks.

If anything, I would add a depth player at the deadline and try and move out some salary next summer FOR picks.

The NHL uses the AHL to train officials too, so stands to reason more mistakes made on that front.

If they keep up this pace or close to it and RV is still on LTIR at the deadline, that 1st round pick is going to totally be in play. They are all in.

There are more guys in the AHL trying to stand out to get a call. Alot of time the way to stand out is to be physical. So I think there are more instances of players leaving position to lay a big hit in the AHL then the NHL. However till a player speaks to this, I think, it is mostly hearsay.

When it comes to Turcotte, as sad as it is, he needs to keep his head up. Would get leveled in the NHL too.
Yes I think a good chunk of responsibility is on Turcotte

As seeing turcotte play in jr's, i thought his style of play in his physical frame would never work in the nhl. He simply was not big enough and his frame was never going to be large enough to accomodate the size he would need to play that physical style in the nhl. Genetics limits us all.

No way, not with a Top 5 pick. To important of a pick to be doing favors, although his uncle was a fixture at rinks in SoCal for a long time. Plus he was projected to go that high, it wasn't the Kings reaching.

I think they fully expected him to be a Mike Richards type of character player/future captain when they drafted him. But I do agree with you on the frame thing and how small he is for a player that plays like he does. The things that surprised me most about seeing Turcotte in college was the lack of high end skill for a player taken that high, how small he was and just how good his motor was/is. I don't think I've ever seen that guy take a shift off. If you could put his heart and compete level into a PLD or Alexander Frolov, his jersey would be hanging from the rafters.

Wasn't he the victim of Lee's slewfoot?
Yes indeed arty was the victim of lee's cheap shot. I guess i tried to ignore the play after it happened because i would have become very pissed off. First because of the potential for serious injury and second because of the lack of any penalty being asessed. I dont want to think uncle lou's boys needed one against us.
OR that the refs are that inexperienced/incompetent or just plain stupid enough to let that play slide.

Although I agree with you, but:
  • 2020-Oct-07 Lias Andersson Traded from New York Rangers to Los Angeles Kings for round 2 pick in the 2020 draft (Will Cuylle)

Andersson's father, Niklas Andersson, was a forward who played 164 NHL games and is a European amateur scout for the Kings. "My dad called me real quick and said he was happy, excited for me," Andersson said. "He got shocked too, that I got traded. He saw it on the TV, so he was shocked too, and happy for me." Los Angeles general manager Rob Blake said, "Lias Andersson was a player we looked hard at a few years ago in the draft. We were real familiar with him having his father as one of our scouts in Europe for a number of years now.

Remind me at what point Tony Granato was added to the senior scouting staff and his word carried more weight than everyone else. It was the wrong pick.

It really sucks our top 5 pick may never play in the NHL.

i didn't know that

i don't like that at all

I refuse to blame Turcotte for goons getting in head shots on a top prospect in a lesser league. The bottom line is he never should have left college no young prospect should play in the AHL.

No young prospect, should play in the league that was created, to develop young prospects......hmmmmmm

All these careers ruined because of AHL cheap shots.

Or not.

This guy was also missing weeks at a time because he fell on a face off. He's a glass man. I love to pile on Blake but Turc is getting hurt in the NHL too.

How many times did Vilardi get hurt in the AHL v. the NHL because of a hit?

Turcotte is made of glass or has zero situational awareness. The most games he’s played in the AHL in one season is 32, Byfield played 32 in his first season there. Akil I have no shoulders Thomas has two seasons of 40 games played. Almost all Kings prospects who’ve played in the AHL have been able to string together full or close to full seasons except Turcotte. Spence, Kempe, Pearson, Dowd, Toffoli, Voynov. Hell 5’9 178lbs Jordan Weal played 63, 76, 73 games for the Monarch’s.

I looked around and I found a non-LAK top prospect in the A..Eklund the guy taken before Clarke spent most of last season in the A. Notably - he sustatined a shoulder injury that required him to have labrum surgery - though didnt seem from a dirty hit....Its rare for top prospects but I guess its not just a Bluc thing.
