If it happened one time, maybe. But this is becoming a trend with this team.

How many times does a trend make? Because Lizotte was in the IR, came back...and is playing still....I believe he was the first and only injury this year, so you must be talking about Fiala end of last year, same thing, who knows what was said to whom, I believe they were fighting for position, if not still a playoff spot, it was getting tigher near the end of the year? Maybe the doctor said no damage if he plays, won't heal if he rests.....then what do you do?

We just set an NHL record and we're 16-5-4, and we're still crying about all kinds of crap. We lost a game, WTF? I just don't get it, lets go back to when sucked for most of our existence

I think its time to swap Fagemo for Laferriere. Laf needs some seasoning in the A and Fagemo is more than deserving of an opportunity. Also I'd like to see Grundy back with Lizzo, that line was dominant prior to the Lizotte injury.

Was listening to the Mayors podcast and they essentially talked about this very thing. Laferriere has a bright future, but sending him down to ONT wouldn't hurt him.

Turcotte would've been the next man up, but since that's a no-go now, Fagemo would make sense.

They also touched on PLD and echoed what some of us have mentioned. He needs better line mates, specifically a sniper. Barring the return of Arvidsson, Fagemo might be the option to consider. They mentioned Kaliyev as well, but acknowledged he basically produces better anywhere but with PLD.

Danault is out producing PLD and he makes 3 million less and is 5 years older.

Kings knew that eventually Kopitar would retire and they would need a heir apparent. That is Byfield in two more season (not including this one).

-Byfield takes over for Kopitar as the 1C in 2 more seasons when Kopitar's new deal expires.
-Danault is the 2C for 3 more seasons (after this season).
-The 3C spot was always the question....
-The 4C is Lizotte for now, but could be Helenius in the next 1-2 seasons. Also, could move Helenius to the wing and put Thomas at the 4C.

So why trade for PLD? Turcotte is perfect to slot in that 3C spot.

PLD just cannot play a center's game long term. He's too inconsistent shift to shift, never mind game to game.

The guy is an excellent top 6 winger. That's where he will end up. He is not a long term C here and that's still a long-term issue.

I think Dubois-Moore-Danault is an absolutely insane line, but we won't see it because that would be admitting a huge mistake, and now they can't call Turcotte up for 3C anyway because they just HAD to get JAD some reps and this team suddenly isn't as deep as everyone is pretending when one injury cascades the dominos into THIS

It would be ironic that those people saying "the Kings got PLD because Byfield hasn't proved he can handle it and they need Center depth" end up watching PLD moved to wing, because he can't make it work at center.

Wasn't he playing wing with Connor and Schiefele?

The good news is that we still have Kopi for two more years at Center. Danault will still be there and Byfield will ultimately end up there.

You guys crack me up - PLD is going to be F-I-N-E. When you get home tonight, have a beer (maybe two), take a deep breath and stay calm. LOL.

Next man up is not Turcotte or Fagemo. It is JAD. As proven by the Lizotte injury.
If they decide to put Dubois on the wing with Moore and Danault I could see a Fiala-Turcotte-Kaliyev line working out.

So it sounds like Turcotte is going to be out for a long time.

"Mayor’s Manor has now learned the Kings top prospect is likely going to be out much longer. According to our sources, Turcotte is not expected back anytime soon."

I really feel for him. He spent the offseason training and had such a good start to the year. It has to be incredibly discouraging. Is that 3 concussions now?

He should probably consider retiring.

But it's such a difficult situation. He's so close to having what most would consider life changing money.

If he continues to play he might be putting his long term health and quality of life at risk.

I will always go back to Adam Deadmarsh on this one. We all loved the guy for his heart and determination but that last hit really messed him up for good.

Yes it did. Ive never seen the video of what happened but it was a knee from Craig Johnson.. it was a game at phx that wasnt televised as I recall. If anyone has link to some vid, pls post it. Here's LaTimes article re it Deadmarsh Faces His Reality Check

I blame Kings and Turcotte 50/50 for this debacle. A lot of us were saying he needs to learn to protect himself - he has a habit of head down in dangerous situations.. either teach him or move him up to NHL where headshots arent quite as customary... You had an asset that could evaporate with one more hit.. and sure enough now its not looking good for his future as an NHL regular.

Headshots aren't quite as customary, as this weekend showed......

And instead of playing said asset they leaned on soon-to-depart JAD.

Dumbass asset management rearing it's ugly head for the umpteenth time.

I don't know if we will ever see a prospect who was handled as poorly as Turcotte was. In the end it probably didn't really matter because it seems he just has a defect that would have eventually caught up with him, but the Kings did him no favors with some of inexplicable decisions they made in the 4+ years he's been in the organization.

But if this is the end of the road it's 12 NHL game-checks and whatever peanuts he made in 100+ AHL games. You just feel awful for the kid, because even if you get 100 NHL game-checks, even on an ELC it's a pretty nice amount of money. Richards lasted long enough to make generational money, as did Deadmarsh. Turcotte's NHL earnings will end up being less than a lot of posters on this forum probably make in a year (not including any kind of signing bonus). If he can no longer play, hopefully the Kings find a role for him somewhere in the organization as a scout or something.

It seems Kings management is either unaware or doesnt think the A is more dangerous than the NHL by the way theyve handled their top prospects. Clarke got a nasty head shot a few weeks ago. I just dont think this happens at the NHL level nearly as much and I worry now for Clarke's health. Turcotte future will be fine.. Kings will find him a job or he can go back to Madison and get a degree. He best do that and not end up brain damaged.

They also talked about Bakerfield and Edmonton, and how the AHL team mimics the parent club. Basically said Bakersfield is a piece of shit, dirty team just like Edmonton (exaggerating the lingo a bit, but that was the gist of it).

The next game after the hit was free on AHLTV so I tuned in. I thought there would be retribution for both the Turcotte and Thomas hits, but nothing happened sadly.
