Not counting the goalies, the current Kings roster has 1,649 games played in the AHL in their careers. The only players to not play in the AHL are Kopitar, Doughty, PLD and Gavrikov. Lizotte played 1 and Laf played 4, the next minimum after that is Byfield at 32. Almost every player has played multiple season while someone like Anderson played only 1 season of 53 games.

Head shots and plugs littered in the AHL Turcotte is made of glass and hasn’t learned how to play effectively and protect himself at the same time. Bad combination.

Ultimately kid needs to have a long hard look in the mirror about his future. He can’t keep getting concussions without long term effects. Looking like a wasted top 5 pick. No getting around it, that sucks ass! That draft all together was billed as a very deep 1st round and has not produced!

You know what would be great so we wouldn't have to have this discussion

If he wasn't buried in the AHL for 4-5 f***ing YEARS

It's not rocket science
He just can’t take a job from anyone. Bad timing, numbers game, mismanaged asset (too many centers)? It just isn’t working out. Kings drafted Turcotte, byfield, and Gabe to fill the same spot behind kopitar. Then they signed PD the PLD.

Given the facts of everything the center position has been handled indecisively and had the kitchen sink thrown at it. They missed on a lot of high end assets expended that they ended up filling through the checkbook in the end. Kind of a sloppy approach.

That’s all hindsite though I guess we see if it works in the end!

If he's gonna get creamed, might as well have it be on the big roster. I probably would have kept him on as an extra after his long recovery.

After thinking about how he's been down so long I think this is one of the negative aspects of having your affiliate so close by. It's easy to keep tabs on him and for him to work with Kings trainers and coaches when he's down the road. If a guy is going to be cross-country it changes that dynamic a little bit. The Kings can state they have always slow-rolled guys all they want, but when the Monarchs were around guys weren't going up and down nearly as much, and the stays on the roster were much longer.

I just don’t see what spot he’s gonna take?

How many times does a trend make? Because Lizotte was in the IR, came back...and is playing still....I believe he was the first and only injury this year, so you must be talking about Fiala end of last year, same thing, who knows what was said to whom, I believe they were fighting for position, if not still a playoff spot, it was getting tigher near the end of the year? Maybe the doctor said no damage if he plays, won't heal if he rests.....then what do you do?
Also Vilardi last year. Three is a trend.

This is the Golden Era of Kings hockey, four McDavid caliber players on one roster, it's just an embarrassment of riches.

I’m pretty sure he suffered that injury when he went into the boards, missed some games, played a game or two, then was out again. There wasn’t another injury.

Might wanna double check that.....that game where he went into the boards was very late in the season.....and he missed games...then came back for some playoff games etc

This is how p***y the NHL league has become and how passive the Kings have become.

No one did anything to Bertuzzo last weekend after this hit that took Lizotte out for a few games.

That's just this years list - I have a whole list for last year, but the Kings sometimes didn't have someone like Lemieux or MacEwen in the line-up. Englund is an every day player.

Lemieux was either scratched or hurt, then was traded. MacEwen came in with this shield, was ineffective, got beat up by Hague in his one fight and basically did nothing after that except challenge Kane and Nurse in the playoffs, which was too little too late.

Yes, I see you just realized it's 2023, not 1973....

Also, no one did anything to Anders Lee.

Add him to the list of players the Kings owe a beating to....Kassian (retired, so no chance), Kane, Nurse, MacDavid, Lee, Joshua, Cogliano (Fiala got him with an elbow last game against Col), Zadorov, Carrick (Englund got him back), Vatrano, Dillon, Reaves, Stevenson, and Tkachuk....

All the above players caused injury or cheap shotted Kings players over the years.

I checked. He went into the boards against the Flames on March 20th and left the game. He played the next two games against the Jets and Blues before missing the rest of the regular season and Game 1 of the playoffs.

Gavrikov now week-to-week

Excellent work as always, Kings medical staff

Guess now he can join Arvidsson and Turcotte on Robidas Island, maybe they'll be back in 2024, maybe not
At least it looked more like a contusion, nothing that would require a long rehab. I was surprised he came back at all that game, but he returned hence day to day. The Kings should just say "We won't know for a couple of days", but then folks would be complaining that they can't even do their job and diagnose. It probably swelled up and will take a while for tissue to heal. 7-10 days is typical for that. At least we get some info, if I was in charge I would just say "lower/upper body, no timeline" for everything.

We've been fortunate this year so far, hopefully that continues.

i forget where i read it but he was day-to-day with a scheduled doctor visit today, i'm assuming he's now week-to-week as a result of that visit. i guess i'm not too surprised even if it is a tired trope with this staff at this point

maybe it's not too bad if he was able to "sorta" play on it but game speed was too much
