This is a very crucial stretch for LA. They've had a tough schedule, but more time to rest compared to most teams. But once the games are grouped together, we're going to see the effects of a shortened roster.

Arvidsson's injury let Blake go over the cap a bit because of LTIR. And he may get some cap relief with Lizotte. But the way the cap was managed posed an inherent risk.

The clustering of games will be the next big stage to overcome.
All the more reason to bag as many points as possible right now.

Point % wise LA is getting no respect on power rankings. I hope teams are sleeping on them as well

Everyone is sleeping on them, it's crazy

I like it this way to some degree but if you ever needed proof that people don't watch west coast games (re awards for doughty kopitar quick) here you go

Some friends of mine on the east coast that arent Kings fans (some even hate the Kings) have said the Kings are the best team they have seen this year. I like that the media and power rankings gloss over them because it keeps the pressure low and the mood light.

Digging around different stats, it's amazing how many of them the Kings rank #1 in. Here's a new one I saw today.

Kings have the lead more than any other team in the league, and it's by a pretty wide margin.

They lead in a lot of important metrics, on the stat sheet they are pretty dominant.

I've had time to watch quite a few more games on ESPN+ this year and it's been kind of a "holy shit" moment. After a couple of months it's easy see the gap between the Kings and most other teams. The biggest eye-opener is watching teams where lines or guys take shifts off mentally - this team just doesn't do that often. Or teams that have no idea how to play as a unit, or come at you in waves line after line. It's not solely a skill thing, it's their mentality. Not many teams have that.

TSN literally has LA #1 on the power rankings this week, so I don't know that this team is being disrespected or that teams are sleeping on LA. They're a top five team in the league right now, and an argument could be made for #1.

Did not see TSN, just Athletic and ESPN.

I have canceled my subscription to The Athletic. It has turned into almost as big a rag as the hockey news.

TSN is very Canadian based heavy and has not been the same since Mackenzie left. It’s still provides some good articles though.

I picked up a hockey news prospect guide yesterday that was recently done and they had Byfield as a 51st best prospect under 21. I didn’t have to read any further to know that they’re still going downhill in a hurry. I threw it back on the shelf and this will be the first year that I haven’t picked up the prospect guide since the 90s

I canceled mine about a year ago. Eric Stephens is admirable enough, but I don't find his writing very informative. His interviews (when on the mic) are always long and drawn out and also don't contain much substance. Hard pass for me.

FWIW He writes for both LA and ANA, so... whatever.
