Copley is 31, will be 32 soon. Why couldnt he be back next year? Talbot I get, he will be 37 next year, so probably not bringing him back unless he agrees to a min. vet salary + incentives to be the backup. I hope Portillo pans out, but I am certainly not ready to hand him the reigns with zero NHL experience and a team expecting to contend deep into the playoffs for the next few years. So most likely assuming one/both of Copley and Talbot are not here next year, we're still likely looking to bring in help from the outside.
I like John's idea of potentially bringing in Stolarz next year as backup (if Talbot returns). I would make him an offer.

If Talbot does return, maybe Gibson on a decent deal. His incentive is to be on a contender.

The only reason the Kings would re-sign Talbot is because they think Portillo is the future #1 and needs a full year as the #1 in Ontario. He is basically the back up to Riitch.

If its a 1 or 2 year deal and cheap, I could get behind this as well. I think Stolarz could def. find success as a backup getting 25-35 games behind our D. Of course, could probably say the same about most goaltenders out there with our current D, but Stolarz has played behind some CRAP defenses that hung him out to dry nonstop and still did well enough for the most part.

If there's one thing we are definitely not short on it is forward depth

I swear to god if we commit any more money or roster spots to forward they're going to have to play a 4-1 formation.
cmon RJ. its the new nhl. next step is the empty net for the 3rd period.
guess we'll find out about the importance of defense if talbot gets hurt

probably coincide with when LA is the most banged up too.
Good thing we have several players waiting to get a look. Then we know exactly what we're going to get out of Turcotte, Clarke, etc..

Hope you’re all ready for another 4 day break after today.
It really sucks when you can't enjoy taking in a Kings game for 4 days. Especially when they are playing this well.

This is a very crucial stretch for LA. They've had a tough schedule, but more time to rest compared to most teams. But once the games are grouped together, we're going to see the effects of a shortened roster.

Arvidsson's injury let Blake go over the cap a bit because of LTIR. And he may get some cap relief with Lizotte. But the way the cap was managed posed an inherent risk.

The clustering of games will be the next big stage to overcome.
