Why the Kings, though?
Because Luc said they're interested in these special event games now that they aren't rebuilding, they have experience with these games, etc.

I know there are a lot of valid issues with Luc, but I don't think he should be seen as the figurehead of this decision-making. The NHL has to agree and sign off on it, they need to make the schedule, and they need another team to agree to this, too.

dont have the original quote context.. but this is TM on DuBlah. Thats why I like the line change because he will lead that line and assert more.

Why are people getting worked up over a couple meaningless preseason games? Exposure is good. You want people outside of LA being Kings fans. Look what happens when a Canadian or O6 team plays at the Crypt. Half the arena is filled with their fans.

"exposure" from the team that can't even stream their own preseason games?

Are we sure we're talking about the same franchise?

Like I said before I'm good with the ambassadorship. I love Kopitar as a figure for the game in that manner, as well. But I'm more than a little annoyed that the organization seems to care more about all the extracurriculars than taking care of their own fans.

That's fair, but again, this is more than a Luc decision. He agreed to start doing this now that they aren't rebuilding.

I just think that on the totem pole of mismanagement, this is on the lower end - but then again I'm admittedly very ignorant of the business side and financials.

It’s players making millions a year flying on a chartered flight for 5-6 hours (or 15 to Australia), staying at a five star hotel and playing a hockey game.

It’s not a big deal, they complain and cite other things because they just don’t want to go. But these are the same players who would be complaining about the cap going down from less revenue being brought in.

I traveled from the midwest to the west coast almost every weekend for 2-3 years, most of those on coach, it's not that big a deal.

On one hand I don't want to fault them for trying to grow the global brand

But on the other they're doing so and neglecting the locals so I'm salty

It seems more and more like RV isn't coming back until the playoffs IMO.

That extra 4.25M is huge.

If that is true there are going to be a lot of people on this forum that will either have to call the Kings “cheaters” consistent with their previous views on other teams, or try and vehemently argue that “this is different than everyone else”

And I will continue to say what I've always said. Use LTIR to go over the cap when the player is on LTIR, but for the playoffs you can't have an active lineup that exceeds the cap, if that means healthy scratching a good player, so be it.

I'm all for use it if it's there but Arvidsson is a different scale of talent and salary than Kucherov, Stone, Kane AND this is a little premature as we aren't even halfway thru the season plus he didn't enter the season on IR allowing them to make moves ahead of time, aside from Kane the others made moves all season knowingly, Blake hasn't done shit

Like I said might as well use the loophole until they get annoyed enough to close it but this isn't that quite yet if ever

I've been in favor of the Kings doing this all along.

From RV's perspective though, this can't really be good for him if he's in a contract year.

When it comes to using LTIR, it's not purely a black and white issue in regards to "cheating". There's more gray area than people realize IMO.

This is exactly why there is a cap.
Wealthy teams like Detroit would just buy up any good player and bench them just to not playing against them somewhere else.

I still remember 2001.
Hey guys, what do we need to win another cup ?
Well we could add Brett Hull and while we are at it Robitaille would makes sense as well.

A goalie is always helping i heard.
Alrighty, who is the best goalie right now?
Ah i know, that Hasek guy won Vezina's

What do you mean by paying them?
They only want 9 mill each, what's the harm in that.

The only issue would be the freshness of the players during All Star break.
11 of our guys would play on that weekend

I was talking about for the playoffs (when there is no cap) if players come off LTIR. Not for the regular season. So no team would be able to do what you are suggesting.

I am not suggesting, the Red Wings did exactly that.
This is what the thought process started to salary cap the whole league.

Even health scratching any player should count against the salary cap as well as the LTIR, IMO
regardless what part of the season

I'd agree it's bullshit if Arvidsson is miraculously healthy enough for game 1 of the playoffs after being out all season. And I wouldn't blame fans of other teams calling the Kings cheaters for this.

But if fans of TB, Chicago, Vegas, etc complain, I'll just laugh at them.
