If jad has to be in it should be in lewy's spot for a spell. How many grade As has that guy biffed this winter? Even jad coulda put a couple of those in
Lewis has never been a scorer, that’s for damn sure.

Problem with replacing him with JAD, is that it’s a downgrade almost everywhere. Lewis is a good hockey player, who isn’t ever gonna hurt you, and that’s what you want from the 4th line.

I really don’t know what JAD does exceedingly well. He isn’t bad, he just is about as vanilla as it gets.

I want to cheer for JAD, seems like a good kid, but why has he learned 3rd LW from two different coaches and he has the stats of an enforcer.

Lewis has been good recently. Remember that hit last week on Laffy from Juulsen - England tried to fight him and then at the whistle Lewis cross checked Juulsen. I talked to a ex NHL'er once and he said Lewis can be a chippy and cross checked him in the mouth once - he was pissed.

Per Elliotte Friedman and his 32 Thoughts column..

22. Los Angeles Kings: Their wins over Vancouver and New Jersey were as good as they’ve looked all season. They’ve been very inconsistent, incredibly so. The injured players — Mikey Anderson, Viktor Arvidsson, Carl Grundstrom, Adrian Kempe — are expected back before the end of the regular season, so no LTIR stashing. There is definitely a sense they want to keep Matt Roy, a pending UFA, through the deadline. Arthur Kaliyev, in and out of the lineup, isn’t guaranteed to move. They’ve been looking for some edge, but there’s not a lot of space to do it. Not expected to do anything major.

Third time now Friedman said the Kings are asking to add some edge.

And there are media who cover the Kings saying Englund should sit.

The Kings even know they are soft.

Englund doesn't make the kings tougher, he makes them worse
It's unfortunate he hasn't been able to build off his start to the season.

That said, he was been playing a better recently.

ANDREAS ENGLUND:

Again, this matches the eyey ball test. Great start to the season. Then steadily got worse. But around the time Hiller took over, Englund has been playing better.

Englund tailed off around the 40-50 game mark, which is not surprising considering everyone sucked right before TM was fired and also Englund has never played more than 47 NHL games in one season.

I think Englund was trying too hard to make the big hits and sometimes taking him out of position - he has been quietly consistent recently. I think Yawney is turning him into a Sean O'Donnell type D man.

At the start of the season, Englund was almost to good to be true. His D play was plenty respectable. He was making big momentum-shifting hits without putting the Kings on the PK, and sticking up for his teammates. Everything you could want from a bottom pair physical dman.

If he can return to a serviceable level of play, I like what he brings to the lineup.

A lot of times guys who fight have nagging injuries.

It would be nice if LA could add one other player to the lineup that adds toughness/size/physicality while still being a serviceable hockey player so it's not all on Englund.

If Mikey's out for a while, I wonder if Joel Edmundson from Washington is someone we might target.

I think the last time he took a big run at someone was when he put a big hit on Barzal, Isle's responded with an immediate fight and then Anders Lee decided to make the Kings his Saturday Night Thing for the rest of the game. Depending on the opponent, he might be deciding to play it a little safer when it comes to raising the temperature of a game.

That said, he leads the league in fighting majors until Rempe plays 7-8 more games. Thought the Frederic fight was a nice one immediately after a Kings goal on the road where he was able to ice a guy looking to get the home crowd fired up.

That said, the big potential KO-type hit is going to be needed come playoff time.

Im guessing signing Dell means they are not going to try for another goalie by friday?

Talbot/Rittich/Portillo/Dell is the goalie depth chart for the rest of the season

Bluc will go out and get a scorer at the TDL thinking they are stacking the team for the playoffs once the injuries sort themselves out.

These dipahits are trying to build an all star team when we all know all star teams don’t win cups. Complete teams that can score and lock a game down and retain leads do!

He's grown on me a lot so I'm not trying to motherf*** him--I just think it's a mistake to overestimate his abilities because he's the only toughness on the roster. That's not his fault, but i think he's trying to be a hero too and it's corresponded with his dip in play. He needs help/support as the whole team does.
Agree completely, and that’s why I guess I harp on a tough as nails, fourth line that can check hard, fight, and play the penalty kill. Lizzo is a great player, but he’s not what we need. A player like Kalyev should never be on the fourth line.

With what we’re paying our star players and the minutes they play all we need from the fourth line is guys that can play 10 minutes a game, and disrupt the game

Lol and literally one all star this year.

Lewis does several things very well like killing penalties, breaking up plays by being in the right position and being defensively reliable. JAD has never impressed me, he does nothing well, Not sure why he's never been waived, I can't imagine anyone picking him up.

He will likely be waived when the team gets a couple of guys back.

Bigger problem is that they are not going to be able to roll 7 D when these forwards come back. Spence, Clarke and Turcotte should remain with the team.

Wennberg scratched for Seattle for trade purposes. Should the King's get on this? We could use a 3C.

Gavrikov, interesting to see what happens here. Only committed 2 years & will need to be re-upped this summer. Can't see King's letting Roy walk without Gavrikov extended. Blake has traded guys in the past over contract negotiations. Wonder if Blake is mad about the 2 year contract, NMC, & almost full signing bonus money on the contract.
