It’s insane the level of mental gymnastics people go to on this board to defend Rob Blake.
Some of the stuff he does I like. Some of it drives me nuts. Burned out on Iafallo & Vilardi. Don't really care about "losing" those two. If Iafallo was 2-2.5 & there was cap fine. He's an upgrade on JAD. Why is JAD a thing?

This summer team needed a LD, Center & Goalie. He got 2 of three & still have a chance to add the goalie. With Kopi showing signs of aging a center was an absolute need. The two year extension on Kopi not looking great though.

His coach didn't seem to get along with all the players & wasn't using them all to their max potential.

Hockey is a game of chaos. Not everything works out like you plan it. To make the playoffs you need to play a little over 50%. Does the same apply for GM? Win or break even a little over 50% of your moves? Lombardi had quite a few moves that didn't work. He kept adjusting until they did.

Not too stressed about where the team is right now. They have a good shot at making the playoffs. This team has guys that can score & a bunch of players that are a pain in the ass to play against. Not only do they infuriate us from time to time, but they have the ability to make the other team lose their minds. This can be a successful form of playoff hockey. If not it's still entertaining to watch. Remember Kinger flattening Pietrangelo in '12? Still hilarious how far he flew. See, entertaining.

So grab an extra goalie & get an extra physical player or two & see what happens.

And why can't we give Kaliyev a couple games with Turcotte to see what happens. Oh still in the dog house.

Do you think that insane level of negativity is really helpful for team improvement?

If player, coach or management morale is affected in any way by a messageboard it’s a lost cause anyways.

As far as the batting .500 example for a GM.

- Is Blake batting .500 on all his moves?
- The importance of the moves matter

If you went through every transaction as Kings GM, does it come out in the red? I really struggle to see how anyone could think so.

Clear Wins

- Faber pick
- Anderson pick
- Moore trade
- Spence pick

Clear Losses

- Faber trade
- Turcotte pick
- Stevens hire
- Mclellan hire
- Kupari pick
- Bjornfot pick
- Kovalchuk signing

I just don't know how you can not be negative when we are 7 years into this, we have traded multiple 1st round picks as well as (currently) the best player they have drafted and it has resulted in 0 playoff series wins and a team currently sitting in a wildcard spot.

What’s insane is someone thinking the posts here have anything to do with helping the team improve.

Is that why there are people here acting like positivity enforcerment hall monitors? They think the posts here have an actual effect on the team? Jesus that’s just plain psycho.

Can you imagine having a 'hobby' like following an NHL team and then allow it to bring you such misery to the point where you post countless negative posts on an internet message board where you badmouth said team? I couldn't, I'd find a new hobby.

This literally sounds like every girl i've ever dated who hated sports. That was pretty much exactly what they'd say.
Oh and: you like sports more than me. You can guess where i probably fall in that decision.

Not sure how you put Stevens hire as a clear loss, when it was a clear promise that was made by a previous regime, then you somehow don't put Byfleid in a clear win, Bjornfoot pick a clear loss when there's not a player taken after him in the 1st round that has fared better....

Yea, sorry your bias is completely showing it's bare ass right here...

Faber trade, yea, loss, Turcotte pick, yea, loss, everything else, is just a lighter shade of grey that you are allowing your bias to show...McClellan, clear loss....yet you can put ANY coach there that didn't win...as a clear loss...just absolute bat shit crazy at this point....

Cool story, but I'm not your girlfriend...and I've been following this team religiously for 30 years.

being a kings fan and thinking critically about the team are not mutually exclusive.

look at former times staff writer helene elliot. she probably got so sick of turning chicken shit into chicken salad in writing about this team, she quit her job!

The Kings have made the playoffs two years in a row and are on track to do so again this season. From a results oriented point of view, it's not insane to appreciate the job that Rob Blake has done to build the team. The team is way more entertaining and interesting than they were 5 years ago.

That being said, it's been my opinion since September that if the Kings don't win a playoff series in 2024, Blake deserves to go. I'm gonna withhold my judgment on Rob Blake until the season is over. Not that my judgment means anything at all.

We're all here to yap about the team, and not everyone is gonna agree with my opinions. I don't think any of you are insane, just hard core fans who talk a lot of shit.

if they fire blake, i just hope they keep theeir scouts or whoever is in charge of drafting. think theyve done a good job.

Nobody here is disagreeing with that. However, just look at yourself, you think you could find one post from this season where you weren’t leading with some underlying negative tone?

Being critical is one thing, being obnoxiously negative is a WHOLE other thing. Not to mention the gross, absurd insults and accusations you sling at the org…I guess that’s another discussion.
