I am hopeful that Hiller will be willing to shake things up and put players in positions to succeed. I think that means more ice time for some of our younger guys and less ice time for some of our older guys.
The good things about Hiller so far:

1. He's a big analytics fan and analytics have shown the issues with certain players like PLD, Englund, etc..
2. He seems to have PLD's ear as it was mentioned by Russell Morgan that he seems to talk to him more than the other coaches.

This is what is going to happen.

"No it isn't "

This is what is happening.

"No its not"

Its happening right now.

"Its Monday morning quarterbacking".

Like I said, I like and respect GBH (way more than most apparently). But this "MMQB" and "How could Blake have known" stuff is just ridiculous and a really really bad look for him. GBH spent many months arguing here with people such as yourself and RJ, who could see exactly where this was heading, and now that those chickens are coming home to roost he is not acknowledging that and is accusing people of being MMQB.

According to dictionary.com this is the definition of MMQB

nounInformal.
  1. a person who criticizes the actions or decisions of others after the fact, using hindsight to assess situations and specify alternative solutions.

The criticisms directed at Rob Blake are certainly not after the fact. Whether that is the decision to end the rebuild (yourself and me) or the choices made with individual transactions (KP, RJ & others)

To quote a favorite movie of mine:

"I don't want you to be the (team) in the PG-13 movie everyone's *really* hoping makes it happen. I want you to be like the (team) in the rated R movie, you know, the (team) you're not sure whether or not you like yet."

its' truly unreal

'what was blake supposed to do'

oh, i don't know, any of the scenarios we outlined 3ish years ago at this point, with the forewarnings of what exactly would happen right now if we did this, almost verbatim.

Like I'm not big on 'we're so smart' as we're just internet nerds speculating on the team and we have been wrong so, so many times but i hate to say we have been SO f***ing right on the money about this whole thing for several years.

"What was Blake supposed to do"
"How could Blake have known"
"Faber wasn't signing here"
"Bergevin is pulling the strings"
"Easy to say that in hindsight"
"Monday Morning QB"
"We can't afford Clarke's bonuses"

First data point on Hiller.. JAD on line 3 over Kaliyev or Fagemo or Turcotte. JAD is just unserious.
JAD with Turcotte and Kaliyev wouldn't be that bad. Kings gotta decide who they don't mind letting go. Unfortunately, they probably send Laf down when Arvidsson is back.

Hiller needs to find a way to get Clarke in there every game...pair him up with Gavi and let Roy go to 3LD where Ive heard he's been Ok on the left. This way you have 3 sound pairings... Time to let Englund go to the A and concuss some Oiler prospect

HOPEFULLY that's just a "let me see what todd saw in practice" kind of thing, if that's the lineup on saturday it's obvious who's pulling the strings here

3rd line will look better once RV returns, although I'm not expecting him to make an immediate impact. I'm glad Turcotte gets to stick around (as he should), really rooting for him to succeed. I like the idea of Roy playing the left side so Clarke and Spence can play. Englund does provide some much needed toughness though, hopefully the break has recharged everyone.
