So, you don't know what a "Couple" means? Means 2
I mostly blame myself for not being crystal clear.....

The bolded players are just guys with the exception of the goalie who may or may not pan out.
Their two highest picks from THE LAST 2 DRAFTS are trash. Dvorak may or may not be a bottom pair D eventually, but I'd bet he's back in Europe in 2 seasons.
you have to take account of where they drafted? They didn’t start picking into the 50s were the percentage of making the NHL is very low.

I will agree that Hughes pick two years ago does look like a brutal pick. Maybe not so much for the players actual skills, but for the fact that he was a repetitive player in our system. I’m not sure if Connor will break into the NHL as a bottom six player. He has a little jam to him. Again very low percentage pics to make NHL for any team.

Dvorak is a massive defenseman that’s gonna take a few years. he just got into Canada. He’s learning a new culture, new team, new systems. I wouldn’t even begin to to assess what he’s going to be for another year.

Hampton looks like an awesome pick. Ziemmer looked like a great catch until he went down with an ankle injury.

What was with that Hughes pick? GM son nepotism?

Looking at the team, there’s no way it should’ve struggled as much as it did over the last month. Yes, we have some flaws in this team and flaws in the way Blake built the team but there’s not many teams in the NHL that doesn’t.

We have a massive break right now where everyone should be rested and we should be coming back to a different game plan. There’s rumors about dissension in the coaching stuff about deployment of players and hopefully Hiller can pull the right strings.

At this point, I’m not looking to try and win us down the cup for the two vets, even though my heart says we should probably try to do it. My mind says it’s not feasible.

We’re up against the cop and a couple of trades could really restock our prospect base or draft pick capital and open up spots for young pups to get reps at the NHL level

I still think this team can win the Stanley Cup with Kopitar and Doughty on the team, but using those players in a role to supplement instead of lead

I know Roy just had a baby and is that instrumental part of her defensive core but is also a UFA would fetch her first round draft pick plus back. Trading Roy opens up a spot for Clarke.

Moverare also deserves to be on this team. His advanced stats are incredible and can be put into the lineup to give our face puncher a break as our face puncher has been struggling lately.

I know the fan a split on Lizotte. I know he is Charlie Hussle, and good on the penalty kill, but our others have proved that the penalty kill can be good with without him. We definitely definitely need to have Turcotte at the NHL level. It also saves us $800,000 in salary .

We have way too many forwards with RV coming back as well. That guy will be in instant boost to the PowerPlay, provide another right hand shot, and will provide PLD with another hustle guy that has all the skill in the world to set him up. I absolutely agree that PLD has played like dog shit, but I do believe he will play better with better players.

Byfield- Kopitar- Kempe
Moore - Danault- Kaliyev
Arvidsson- PLD - Laf
Grundstrom- Turcotte - Lewis

Doughty - Anderson
Spence - Gav
Clarke - Moverare/ Face puncher

There are holes in this lineup. Still not happy with our goaltending situation, but I address that for next year. I am also wanting more size in the lineup and I look for an upgrade in Grundstrum.

I don’t like Turcotte on the bottom line as I think he’s got the skill to play up . If Kaliyev can’t get his act together, I replace him with Turcotte.

This gives the kids a chance to show us what they can do. The team has put themselves in a tight playoff run and what better way to learn and access what we have going forward for next year we’re not winning it this year no matter what we do so might as well let the kids play and get them ready for next year, or at least their trade value so we can try and Poach a goalie

Fiala?

The other thing I would try and do is get Fagemo proper playing time. Looking at how this roster is constructed, and the lack of right handed shots and the fact that RV is a UFA, we might have a built-in replacement. I was impressed with him in the few games, he got with us lately but I’d also like to see a bigger sample size and he put in a scoring opportunity on one of the power-play roles. it just seems like team draft snipers to put on the fourth line. Some people say you have to work on your weaknesses but others say to keep working on what you do best. It seems like only takes one of those philosophies to heart when constructing lines.

I guarantee the room discussing the Dubois trade was the same as the dumbass evaluations in Moneyball:

“He’s a five tool player”

“Strong height and build”

“He’s got a good face”

Just old school bullshit from a team claiming to be modern.

being a career pessimist and one that lives in reality, its my take that a whole lot of significant change is not going to take place with hiller. i hope it does, but i dont think it will. we're still gonna see a 1-3-1 and hopefully maybe arty and others will get a good look and a fair shot at a job. i'll be interested to see if play overall improves or if it remains stagnant due to the fact that we have no goaltending. and anybody thats been around hockey for any length of time realizes that it all starts and ends with goaltending. i think todd had alot to do with the poor play but the players arent stupid and see the 2 netminders backing thier play. and before anybody brings up last years vegas golden showers, they were extremely lucky with thier goaltending combined with big physical d.
maybe portillo gets a look? despite my realist outlook, i hope for the best.

Damn, Penner and PLD are the same player aren't they
Yeah in a sense, but what makes PLD worse was his trade acquisition and then his awful contract. Penner didn’t break the bank he was just disappointing in long stretches but clutch when he needed to be…. PLD on the other hand has been nothing but awful. At least Penner was past his prime when the Kings got him. I have no idea if there’s any decent excuse for PLD

As far as getting a player with "some edge" absolutely nothing would surprize me at this point after whats already been done player personell wise. Loss of draft picks and established players for thugs/overage hangers on/behavior problems.
I read on twitter around the change from deano to bluc on a tweet allegedly that was from lombardi saying that blake was an "asshole and will be taken advantage of by other gm's".
Who knows whose account this was but whoever wrote the take it sure proved true
Nostradamus couldn’t have predicted it better FML

Penner was a beast in the playoffs, his physical play stood out during the Blues series. And can never forget that goal against the Coyotes after Brown’s Knee Missile. PLD hasnt produced or played physical. Even if we get Playoff Pierre, we’re anchored to that horrendous contract for an exclusively playoff performer.

some of the best tape ever captured. hanzal cheapshot off the faceoff, immediate run on the boards, missed his backcheck on penner because he wanted another cheapshot, smith slashing richards after the goal for existing near him

that was like 15 seconds of pure cinematic justice

I still feel for Phoenix, they played their asses off that whole season and bought into a team concept that made them so much better than the sum of their parts. Its always been one of my favorite differences between hockey and the other sports. No doubt in my mind that they would have beat New Jersey.

But, sucks for them.

Kovalchuk/Parise scared the hell out of me.

I was confident we would beat NJD but I'd always hold my breath with them on the ice.

yeah but f*** em

cheap shot city

hanzal on brown, doan on lewis, Smith on brown but really everyone, then begging the refs to bail them out, smith throwing his stick at the refs after the series, doan being a giant bitch in the handshake line

there's 'the world is against us' and then there's being a bunch of giant f***ing babies about it, I'm not certain they would have gotten thru NJD because they'd probably have been flipping their lid about Clarkson or some shit, just a bunch of losers who had hot goaltending for a couple of rounds then collapsed mentally once they lost the force field advantage

I can appreciate a good cinderella story and the power of confidence/belief but they got high on their own supply and started thinking they were predestined instead of continuing to work honestly for it

Clarke drops the gloves. Probably because he's tired of Englund playing because he can fight. Notice he was smart about not hurting his hands

They did whine a lot during the entire series. That wiped whatever pity I may have had for them. They prob knew if it didnt happen that year, it would never happen... Doan had a great career.

Y'all got sidetracked ripping on the Cryotes. Please keep things on topic. This thread is for PL bashing only.

PL so bad, people forgot Byfield can't score on a wrist shot.
