If the organizational philosophy sucks and there could be a coaching change, why would the next coach have the same "ethos"?

I'm one of Kaliyev's biggest supporters here and it is pissing me off that we're at this point. Entire team is in freefall so let's move a cheap, young player so we can rearrange the deck chairs.

He hasn't been great but he's the one jerked around the most and he's come back from sitting out and played hard. Grundstrom and Lewis are out there doing jack shit but neither have his potential.

Feels to me like another byproduct of Kaliyev seeming aloof and "weird" for lack of a better term. Easy to scapegoat.

Forgot about him! So many choices- an abundance. There's a little bit of everything out there, a great time to pull a mid-season replacement.

However... Getting the feeling that the break will be the re-set button, RV due to come back and no coaching change will be made.

This would be insane and might cause me to actively root against the team, something I've never done before in my life even the Stamkos draft
pretty much what blake said last week, he thinks its all on the players and they're not following the system, his stance is clearly to just keep falling and hope that RV is the parachute

luc/AEG have to step in for anything to change

said it better than i could. blake thinks he's on the correct heading apparently, regardless as to who the coach is, so it's iceberg if luc doesn't force him out

funny how blake went from "we need kaliyev to be a top 6 forward" preseason to "we need to find a place for kaliyev" at the midseason presser. i don't understand what the hell he's expected to show in 6-8 minutes after being ripped from PP2, which doesn't get reps anyway because somehow a perimeter passing clinic from PP1 is acceptable and immune to change

Just finished catching up on this thread. It's a doozie. This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but it seems like the King's are & couple small tweaks & or Talbot getting back to average from going on a heater.

Reactions: Schrute farms

If it happens, good for Arthur. For him to be successful, he needs to play his game (i.e. scoring goals), and not that of a defensive specialist. Looking back at the high expectations I had from the Kings top 3 picks of the 2019 draft, (5) Turcotte (injuries), (22) Bjornfot (a bad choice), and (33) Kaliyev (total mismanagement), it ends up being a big disappointment.

Luke Gazdic was on the Hockey and & Hell podcast and had some not so nice words for TM. Said TM basically ignored him.
To be fair Luke Gazdic was literally just a face puncher and nothing more.

At least guys like Clifford, Nolan, Andreoff, etc. could all play.

Duhaine and Greenway are who I want.

I would take Josh Anderson too, but the contract is bad. He has a history with PLD and Bergeron.

Poor man options are Olivier, Carrick, and Maroon.

Maybe...it's not the games that's expected to show anything....

Agree. They're a coaching change and a few small lineup tweaks from getting back on track (At least for this season, there's definitely still long term concern)

Our 1st game back. What could possibly go wrong?

We're gonna break Edmontons win streak and start our own 15 game winning streak! Therefore nothing will go wrong! :sarcasm:

Arthur Kaliyev....YES get me as far away from TODD and this f**kin team as possible please please trade my a** now.

Turcs...Hey Arthur you lucky son of a B**ch. LOL.
I really don't want them to trade AK, but I know this current regime won't figure out how to use him. Hopefully he tears it up with whatever team he is traded to, which in turn helps ownership see how bad our current management is.

Frankly, I think this team is absolutely and thoroughly screwed for the next several years regardless of what they do. Too many bad veteran players on long expensive deals.

I don’t think the Kings will be ready to compete until PLD’s contract in particular is off the books.

agreed. Their only hope is either PLD turns it around eventually with a new coach -- or enough of a turn around to entice someone eventually to trade for him & his full contract. Tall order but it's possible.

The talk of game management was interesting.

In regards to 2/3 goal leads evaporating:

League wide, 4th liners believe they are 30 goal scorers. No longer want to play heavy grinding game.

I'm actually a little onboard with this idea. The stats show that when the Kings were rolling, they weren't doing anything that was unsustainable. The line-up, by and large, is also full of players who I like. Even Fiala I really like as a player for us, even though he's been very down lately.

The main problem is that the fundamental ethos of management prevents small changes or tweaks. They as a whole have no inkling to the issues plaguing the team right now, but are also too cowardly to experiment on fixes.

1. Why have we completely abandoned Fiala playing with Dubois? We tried it for some games then just dumped it? I get sticking to what works when winning, but why not try it when we are losing?

2. Byfield centering Laf and JAD had a 71% GF. Why not try this again?

3. Moore Danault Grundstrom has a 76.9% GF. Yet this has been abandoned too

Based on just the GF stats, you could ice something like this

Kempe-Kopitar-Byfield 54.4% GF
Moore-Danault-Grundstrom 76.9% GF
Fiala-Dubois-Lafrierre 56.3% GF
JAD-Lewis-Kaliyev 61.9% GF

Yet something like this will never be tried, even when we're losing every game. It seems to me that Management would rather barely lose every game then risk get blown out trying something new. And that is emblematic of a loser culture than a winning one. it's an org full of unpassionate, risk adverse, losers
