For all you put Clarke and Spence in and take out Englund listen to 32 Thoughts today.

Friedman straight up said at the 40ish minute mark - and other people in the league told him - THE KINGS ARE SOFT AND GET PUSHED AROUND WITH ENGLUND.
Just listened and the comment was that one guy called Friedman and said if you take out Englund, the D is soft and that Doughty would probably be the next toughest player.

Basically, they can't afford to take Englund out because he's the only guy that brings that element.

Exactly BigKing. This is what I have been saying all year.

This is not Englund, Clarke, Spence or TM's fault.

It is Rob Blake for constructing a roster that has no pushback, no misift. No Lemieux, King, Nolan, Clifford type.

No soul.

do you really, honestly think that giving up MORE prospects for a single overpaid facepuncher makes any shred of difference? the whole roster doesn't give a shit, they're not gonna start giving a shit with reaves in the penalty box for as many minutes as he plays in the entire game

We don’t need a face puncher we need dudes that can skate, finish hard hits making dudes look over their shoulder, and not be defensive liabilities! We need 2 of those up front and one on the bottom pair!

We need players who care especially when they lose.

Look at the Reign, when they get blown out they start stuff with their opponents. Hodgson, Ward, Doty, Helenius all start stirring it up. We don’t have players like this.

The problem isn't that there isn't a "misfit" type: it's that the best players on the team don't have any edge to them except for Kempe and to a lesser extent Danault.

Yes: I want at least one person that can handle business against anyone but I also want and need players that can play hockey and also feel like they can handle business against other non-businessmen.

Imagine Kopitar or Doughty challenging McDavid after the Anderson hit? Imagine players on this team believing that the C and C- in 11/8 have their backs?

@bland Said it earlier about non-fighters gassing the team up by starting something. You've lost 14 out of 16...could really use a "Holy shit! Lady Kopitar is done screwing around!" by seeing him start a fight. You've got lionized, jersey-in-the-rafters guys at President and GM and then the same thing with your 1C and 1D except the jersey in the rafters will come in a few years. The culture that has been set is that this kind of hockey is okay. It doesn't change while 11/8 are still here unless you bring in a bunch of dudes that have that killer attitude: Blake is capped out and spent on Fiala, Gavrikov and PLD.

Kings get even softer when they trade Roy.

Now you have Elliott Friedman and other league people saying the Kings are soft. Amazing.
Not if they get a tougher forward coming back in the deal. I agree the roster needs more grit and Roy is one of the chips that gives the cap flexibility to do that.

I seriously doubt he gets moved though.

For the rest of the season, I would bring in Quenneville & Babcock as assistants to Darryl, but keep Todd as video coach (just to make a point about him being a career assistant). 🧠
I’d rather we had no coach at all than Q.

Roy was terrific even before Gavrikov. They've only been bad since Gavrikov's return from injury and you're over-emphasizing this terrible stretch over his last three years in the NHL. And saying he's a 'lot worse than Gavrikov' isn't a big deal because don't forget Gavrikov has been functioning as a top pairing dman for years prior to coming here. As a pairing, they had been absolutely insane because Gavvy is basically a Muzzin-level top-pairing dman and Roy is the basically ideal 2nd pairing guy/#3.

I think like almost any other player that leaves the Kings you're going to find everyone going 'lolol stupid kings giving up a #2-#3 dman for peanuts.'

We can agree to disagree on this one if you like but just remember it when Roy is elsewhere next year. As it is you're still owing me for Byfield ;)
No he wasn’t terrific. He wasn’t good in some decent stretches last year too especially to start the year.

I don’t care what the fancy stats say, Roy is a massive liability when he’s defending away from the puck. I’d say he’s the worst on the team in that regards, maybe along with Spence. Spence isn’t too good at it either. I’ve seen Englund be more responsible in front of the crease than Roy.

Well, politely, bluntly, your evaluation is terrible by the fancy stats, the real stats, and the eye test.

You're entitled to be upset with a player and say he's not playing well for stretches without motherf***ing his ENTIRE body of work you know

“He doesn’t fit in with the Kings system or philosophy”? Really? What is the Kings philosophy? If Kaliyev is really that bad then he’s a perfect fit with the system and philosophy.

They completely ruined him. f*** Blake.

I’m right and you’re wrong. President of the Michael Amadio fan club.

Stanley Cup Champion top sixer Michael Amadio *

You're welcome "byfield is a bust and will never hit 50 points" and "Jonathan Quick sucks"

Get ready to throw Roy on your player evaluation pile please

To be fair you were stone cold right on Petersen, i just think you have a habit of mistaking 'boring' for 'ineffective'

Okay but you said Amadio was going to be the next Richards though.

Quick did suck

Byfield is doing ok.

You know I’m right

Dean Evason is the best coaching candidate, listen to his interview on Cam & Strick.

Forgot about him! So many choices- an abundance. There's a little bit of everything out there, a great time to pull a mid-season replacement.

However... Getting the feeling that the break will be the re-set button, RV due to come back and no coaching change will be made.

This would be insane and might cause me to actively root against the team, something I've never done before in my life even the Stamkos draft
