What the heck happened to them? Maybe all the older guys were playing great because they had all that time off between games earlier in the season. Now that the schedule is ramping up, there is less rest for them and the other guys aren't stepping up (cough PLD cough).

Or have other teams adjusted to how the Kings were playing and the Kings (TMac) aren't able to adjust themselves?

Bye Toby! Hope he gets a shot somewhere else. Someone catch me up on Bjornfot, this is my first season back of trying to keep up with the team. I remember him being solid and capable on his call ups back then. Did he just never develop?

Not big enough, not tough enough, not assertive enough, not skilled enough, and not fast enough. Never got better at anything to do anything but take up space and time. Sucks. He had leadership potential when he was drafted, but he can't lead from the press box, and he wasn't good enough to get out of the press box.

We were saying that about Kupari. Who is missing Walker?

I don't recall anyone saying anything about kupari except he's a good depth player that may have some upside but at least a high floor. And that's been correct too.

Walker has been excellent as a #4 on a playoff team, some people here couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Durzi has been the #1 on a playoff team, some people here couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Similar complaints as Toby.

It's not about 'missing them'--as mentioned they're 'expendable' here but that doesn't mean you toilet flush assets for pennies on the dollar after depreciating them because you don't know what the f*** you're doing. Toby is in the same boat.

We'll see.

Teams play weak defense to start the year and then tighten it up by New Years. Weak team do well to start and then quickly fade when teams tighten up defensively. Guess what that means for LA?

It doesn’t make sense from an asset management perspective to waive Bjornfot just to have Clarke up for practice today but sit tomorrow. It would make sense that there’s something that’s going to keep Doughty out at least a game. I could be wrong but I don’t see the logic otherwise.
Some teams like to call up guys to watch and acclimate before they play.

I hope Toby ends up on a decent team.
Watch he ends up in Edmonton and plays lights out to eliminate us from the playoffs while getting Edmonton in as a 2nd pairing guy

Turcotte
Bjornfot
Kaliyev

Not looking great at the moment.
You miss spelled shit the f***ing bed. Poor management and development on 2 of them and be guy who should have been Zegras if Blake listened to Yags!

It's a long season and they have hit a bit of a rut.

Some guys were running well earlier in the year (Kopitar, Talbot, Byfield, Danault) and have leveled off a bit and Fiala and PLD have struggled a lot the past couple of weeks as well.

They will be fine.

Durzi hurt to lose in all honesty. I said before the season that he’d put up more points than Doughty. He also had passion and was a glue guy. I still think Spence is a phenomenal player and better on defense.
Walker was always solid just extremely superfluous. Helped get Cal off the books I guess. Glad he is given a better role.

So they dress Anderson, Gavrikov, Roy, Englund, and a rookie to surround the shin terminator and people wonder why there’s no offense from the backend? Easiest solution is to demote Kaliyev.

looking at the whole we don't develop prospects properly narrative. Teams miss on picks, even 1st rounders. Some drafts are deeper then others. Lets look at the 2019 draft and who was picked in the range Bjornfot was available in:

Games played is the second column Hoglander, Kaliyev, and Tomiasino lead the way in games played followed by Bjornfot then McMicheal. Kaliyev is the leading point getter at 70 and he is currently sitting on the sidelines.

We picked 3 times in the 22 to 50 range grabbing Bjornfot, Kaliyev and Fagemo. Fagemo has been previously waived and re-claimed. Between the 3 they have totaled 287 NHL games.

Carolina also had 3 picks Suzuki, Rees and Kochetev with a total of 3 NHL games.

For the following 5+ rounds of the draft only 8 players have played over 50 NHL games with Arizona's Maccelli making a noticeable impact.

If you took the draft in its entirety you could barely make a complete 1st round of noticeable players.

So maybe we just can't make chicken soup out of chicken shit and we are no different then any other team. Bjornfot may have just peaked early and been in the position to help a none playoff team get by.

yes it feels like we are losing draft capital (if he is claimed) but looking at who was picked around him, even ahead of him, maybe we are putting to much stock in 1st round picks that are not say top 5 or top 10.

Nope, this is complete horseshit, if this team can't develop every single prospect they select in the draft, WTF are they selecting them for.....I mean goddamn, I've been WATCHING the game for 30 goddamn years now, and I swear I know how to develop farts better than these morons, it's f***ing simple, you select them, you let them play where they want, you bring them to camp, and you give them ice time, how f***ing hard is that...right?

Define “fine”. Most of us aren’t upset because we think they’re going to miss the playoffs. We’re upset because the same issues have plagued this team for years and after spending all the assets they had, they’re still likely going to lose in the first round. Second round at best.

if you suggest it's good drafting, then it's terrible development and asset management, given you're repeatedly benching these guys and/or dicking them around and losing them for nothing, even an equivalent pick is better than waivers, especially if the guy is clearly not in your plans.

Or, if it's bad drafting, you'll have to admit that. But you've just shown me it's good drafting and I've long agreed with that, just terrible development and deployment.

And you can't suggest it's awesome management given the team is essentially in the exact same spot they were last year only with fewer assets and less cap flexibility and the players we gave away are having massive success with their new teams, including one who has vaulted into leading the conference largely due to our former players.

Jesus Christ, I honestly don't know how some of you people aren't multi millionaires the forecasting you guys have got going on, people would pay MILLIONS for that type of knowledge.......
