"I want to know, am I making the decisions, or are you making the decisions?"

""

To me, this is a bit of a mess. What quality GM wants to come here, knowing that Shanny has the final say on things? That they will be GM, but without really the power that normally comes with that position? The stress of the job in Toronto, but then maybe handcuffed?

If Shanny wants to run things like this, and promised the core four they are staying, removing Dubas doesn't accomplish anything.

If Shanny wants to be final say on things, he should be the one taking pressers after every loss. What GM wants to come into a situation where he thinks he can turn the team around with a Matthews trade only to be told he can’t do that and instead gets to change the window dressing and be the punching bag in May?

Leafs Home Board
This "golf guy" has the title "Senior Vice President" at the Wasserman Media Group. Talk about not-lying-but-shady spin trying to get away with calling him the "golf guy".

So when Matthews got his sweetheart deal from Dubas last time, I wonder how much % commission the Wasserman group received into their profit line, and then how much would a Senior Vice president receive in $$ financial benefits there from, in form of salary and performance bonuses. A short-term 5 year deal allowing Wasserman group to double down on another big commission coming at higher rates down the road.

So now Dubas being represented by Chris Armstrong Mr Senior Vice president himself, one has to wonder what kind of kickbacks he might be receiving, and may even have his agent fees waived/lowered to say thanks. for how you handled Matthews deal for us. :wg:

No wonder Dubas firing and Matthews new/next contract were instantly linked, as the Wasserman group representing both parties had a lot at stake here.,

The story first coming out was Matthews would only re-sign in Toronto if Dubas was the Leafs GM, but that sounded ridiculous on the surface, however when you now dig deeper there is a lot more at stake for the Wasserman Group that ties the 2 together by agency and future potential earnings.

Since they represent both which is a clear conflict of interest, one can quiclkly see where things can get messy, Wasserman group representing Matthews could simply advice him to not re-sign in Toronto let his NMC kick in and wait until Dubas gets to set up shop in Pittsburgh as GM, and then you follow him there as UFA and land your next big contract then, and we get our big commission as a result. Same agency so Matthews agent and Dubas agent could even start talking dollars and term while Auston is still under contract to the Leafs as apparently the 2 agents offices are just down the hall from each other at Wasserman corporate head office.

I wonder if Fenway Sports has any Pittsburgh Pen players also represented by Wasserman group player agents, because then they could convey if you hire Dubas as GM you get Auston Matthews 1 year from now to replace an aging Crosby/ Malkin to rebuild the Pens future as a 2 for 1 deal from the Wasserman group as we represent both GM and player to make you that offer.

These are straight facts. I am glad there will be an investigation looking into this. If nothing comes out of it, at least Dubas will sweat over it

Why is this still a thing people think is real? The GM has the power to do what they please. Obviously if you're going to be trading a core piece in their prime you better come back to the people writing the cheques with a very good deal to replace their most profitable player.

I’m curious if dubas takes the gm job in Pittsburgh, I’ll assume keefe won’t be the coach at some point and dubas gives sullivan the ol boot and hires his buddy keefe.

Why the hell don't they just cut the guy loose?

Everybody and their dog knows his job doesn't exist here anymore without Dubas.

Wasn't there rumors of a couple teams allegedly interested in him? No need to get in the man's way.
Maybe they are waiting for Dubas to take a new job and then give us something for his primary coach in his little empire. I would hold him back until I had hired a new guy...why help out Dubas by firing him now?
