So when Matthews got his sweetheart deal from Dubas last time, I wonder how much % commission the Wasserman group received into their profit line, and then how much would a Senior Vice president receive in $$ financial benefits there from, in form of salary and performance bonuses. A short-term 5 year deal allowing Wasserman group to double down on another big commission coming at higher rates down the road.
So now Dubas being represented by Chris Armstrong Mr Senior Vice president himself, one has to wonder what kind of kickbacks he might be receiving, and may even have his agent fees waived/lowered to say thanks. for how you handled Matthews deal for us.
No wonder Dubas firing and Matthews new/next contract were instantly linked, as the Wasserman group representing both parties had a lot at stake here.,
The story first coming out was Matthews would only re-sign in Toronto if Dubas was the Leafs GM, but that sounded ridiculous on the surface, however when you now dig deeper there is a lot more at stake for the Wasserman Group that ties the 2 together by agency and future potential earnings.
Since they represent both which is a clear conflict of interest, one can quiclkly see where things can get messy, Wasserman group representing Matthews could simply advice him to not re-sign in Toronto let his NMC kick in and wait until Dubas gets set up shop in Pittsburgh as GM, and then you follow him there as UFA and land your next big contract then and we get our big commission as a result. Same agency so Matthews agent and Dubas agent could even start talking dollars and term while Auston is still under contract to the Leafs as apparently the 2 agents offices are just down the hall from each other at Wasserman corporate head office.
