Dubas got fired in Toronto because he wanted more power. I dont see him accepting a ceremonial position two weeks later. Dubas got what he wanted here imo
I think you are right, but if someone offered me 5 sheets a year for 5 years to politely call Rossi a fat idiot and say "we really like our team" whenever a real journalist asked me a question I would do it all day every day.

This. New GM will have to get the green light from Dubas for most of the decisions. Less work, more power than he had in Toronto.
But it also raises the question of who would be a GM in that situation no?

It’s good to love what you do for a living.

One thing I'm very pleased about, bringing in Dubas is a big money, big balls move. Dubas is going to have the resources, authority and cajones to buy out or fire anyone he wants.

Sure, but on the other hand, for all those assistant GMs its going to be an upgrade title / reputation + money wise. And they might have the power to decide by themselves on some minor trades. So they move up in the rankings, while kinda doing the same thing like before.

Given Dubas' age I think he's here both to try and squeeze a cup win out of our narrowing window and then to also steer us through the rebuild.

The current squad isn't really his team but he'll try to tweak it into a contender, and then in the following years build it in his image.
Same thing was said about the last guy.
Not his roster but he will eventually make his team.
Damage gets larger each new guy comes in. Hopefully it stops here.

The Dubas hire was great. You can tell by the quality of the jokes being made in this thread.

Kyle will have even more power to do exactly what he did in Toronto: replace a lot of the staff with useless Dubasites (like Greg Moore).

His tenure as Toronto’s GM was largely a failure, let’s see if he has learned some lessons. One can only hope.

Even though they might have the same job title I think they'll do their job in a completely different manner. I look at him as kind of a puppet master from behind the scenes, the GM will take the lead on certain things but he'll have his hand print on almost every decision.
yeah thats exactly what i meant. saying he has the same title as burke therefore he will behave like burke just doesnt seem like the sort of thing dubas would want? he isnt looking to shake hands and go on podcasts i dont think.

100% agree! I think those two would really do wonders for this franchise. They're both forward thinkers and would really change the trajectory of this team, the culture and the mindset in every good way possible. Well, in my opinion anyhow.
Only if they get rid of Sullivan…

Only if they get rid of Sullivan…
Well I would suspect they'd feel him out first but they would have the ability to get a person in place if they deem that relationship or what they're seeing on the ice as anything less than excellent.

do we think dubas is announcing sully to the nyr for k'andre miller and a 1st at this presser or he will just wait to have his gm do it

None of this matters if Sullivan is gonna destroy any roster Dubas brings in.

Rust for Rakell swap cost us the playoffs. Hopefully Dubas trades Rust somehow.
