omfg Dubas bring in so many 6 legit NHLers who fit needs and dealing three redundant guys.

HE SUX

I'm lukewarm on some of these trades.

Sandin - I think this trade had more to do with Sandin realizing he doesn't have a spot in this lineup for the near future. McCabe is signed for another two seasons. Gio has one more and he's not losing his spot.

Gus + 1st - I think one or both of these assets gets flipped. Gus is a stereotypical puck moving dman that is bad at defense. I can't see where he fits in the lineup. Rielly already does what he does. Giordano and McCabe are the other LDs.

Schenn - I dunno what Schenn brings to this team that Jake McCabe already doesn't bring. I have to think that Schenn in means Holl is out because I can't see both of them in the lineup at the same time with Liljegren and Brodie solidifying their spots on the right side.

Engvall - Engvall became a whipping boy here but I always appreciated him for what he was, not what he wasn't. Fast skater, could play multiple positions, transitioned well, good defensive instincts. He was good for 15-ish goals a seasons which is fine for a bottom six player.

Dubas has paid a heavy Alex Anthopolous level price to retool the regular season Leafs into a playoff ready Leafs.

The only thing left to do here is to win a Stanley Cup and replenish the organization in the summer.

The more I think about it, the more I think both Holl and Gus will be traded for RD to play with Reilly. Then you have Timmins and Schenn to be your depth. If there is any injuries to one of our LD, TJ will move over and insert Timmins or Schenn.

Nobody said winning is cheap

No way he is done...

Which of the 12 D we have that can play NHL minutes is gone?

Rielly - Liljegren
McCabe - Brodie
Gio - Holl
Gustafsson - Schenn
Benn - Timmins
Kral - Mete

.... wtf is happening?
Holl for a 3rd if you can get it
Gustafsson is the 7th dman now ?
Timmins with Gio ?
Mete is injured
Benn was waived

O'Reilly trade was A+ the rest are Meh relatively speaking.

Boston and Tampa added support players who actually help elevate their teams. Hathaway and Jeannot are top tier options for forward grit. I'm unsure how we made any gains physically, again relatively speaking based on the fact these two guaranteed opponents were more physical than us to begin with before these adds.

Rangers and Devils got the best offensive options.

Sandin trade is a F.

Genius was starting to show again with O'Reilly the rest is just desperately trying not to fall further behind. Imo should have topped off with kane who wanted to come here and just skate circles around everyone with the best top 6 ever

Every move, IMO has made the team better, so for me that's a big :thumbu:

Shirley he must be done now?
As of right now they have 9 D on the roster.

More trades are coming because none of the D can be demoted without waivers, and the ones that could be waived are the ones they just traded for this season (Schenn, Timmins, Gustafsson)

What's the D Man depth chart as it stands right now?

Among potential active roster guys (no particular order)
Liljegren
Giordano
Rielly
Brodie
McCabe
Holl
Schenn
Gustafsson

Plus Benn and Timmins with the Marlies

Depends on how many bodies they want to keep for the playoffs. I think Gustafsson will be the odd man out

Time to celebrate the fleecings!

This is a complete failpost.

Kane only wanted the Rangers, and if you didn't know that open fact, no one should trust anything further about this.

What I like about all the moves, taken in totality, I feel like there is less pressure on the top players, we’re deeper and tougher. The model we had put too much reliance on the top 4, in the playoffs, you need more and you need to know some nights they will be neutralized, you need other differences makers. That’s the big takeaway for me, the top 4 has more breathing room now, we’re a more well rounded, formidable unit.

:laugh:It's not a depth chart if you don't put them in order.

How is Timmins getting to the Marlies? I can't see him clearing waivers.

A lineup of the guys in the pressbox is probably better than some of the bottom feeder's defenses...

Father told me I get the rest of the week off, he's taking time off from work and we'll be waiting for trades while watching Leafs hype videos ! So excited!!!

He's been replenishing today. He replaced Sandin with someone who is arguably playing better and it came with a 1st. He paid the same for ROR, Acciari, McCabe, and Lafferty as Tampa paid for Jeannot.

He's kept his top-10 prospects. Not much to replenish.

Tampa gave up 2 1sts for Jeannot? That's news to me

Trading a 22 year old for a 1st round pick isn't replenishing. They can go and spend that pick this week for all I care.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th

+

former first-rounder, drafted in 2017, playing bottom pairing on a good team, and struggling to be a regular. I am not sure what comparables are out there... but I think there was a similar trade today

That looks like more than 2 1sts worth

They traded Cal Foote, who was a #14 overall in 2017 + a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick. Sandin was #29 overall a year later.
The Leafs gave up a 1st in each of the St Louis and Chicago deals. Tampa gave up one for Jeannot.

If you expand it to include the Washington trade today then maybe it kinda cancels out, but as it's put he's spreading misinformation
