Whos agreeing with you that what Dubas said last night was innappropriate?

Many have not read this yet. Its impossible to tell, maybe some haven't weighed in. I am not all knowing but my point is stands and is valid...

Kyle Dubas stated he found out from twitter and essentially threw the AM camp under the bus. He did not need to offer that detail and it was a misstep in my opinion.

I actually referenced some parts of the interview but you aren't interested in watching it. The spirit of the interview apologetic and disappointed while poibtig the finger at Matthews for not telling him. Then he said he himself found out on twitter, this is not what I do or say EVER.

I watched it and wasn’t rustled by anything he said.

Matthews and his attorney made a mistake by putting the Leafs behind the 8 ball. This really seems like something that could have dealt with in July.

In your eyes: yes.

To everyone else, no.

There's a crazything seem you seem to be missing, when you're trying to criticize someone on a PR matter, the opinion of the public kind of matters.

Trying to convince people that are satisfied with a statement that had the sole purpose of managing their reaction that it was bad at managing their reaction is a fundamentally irrational act.

You should read twitter. It's pretty lively but likely too much for one person. Perhaps that's why you feel I am the only one.

I respect not everyone reads into what is implied the same as I do. It should have been handled different and the twitter drama is real.

I'd be happy to read some threads feature the majority of people reacting negatively to the interview and specifically highlighting what amounts to honesty and professionalism as the reason why. Please link

Though honestly I'd be more interested in your brilliant and totally not hole-digging answer to this
Next question: Kyle, when did you find out?

Matthews and his attorney did the Leafs a huge favour keeping this from them. A summer of talking about this horse-you-know-what? Several months head start for the media vultures to pick at the bones of this rotting carcass? The best answer MLSE could ever have to this is "we honestly didn't know about it".

Stop falling for the media trickery where they juke and shimmy to find an angle on a story to make it maximally sensational. They are your enemy. They are the enemy of your favourite team(s).

how? exactly? how is this the media's fault now?
All it takes is Matthews (or his camp) to privately call Dubas and say "Hi, I did something extremely stupid. there might be legal trouble. I'm preparing you for it in case it goes public you know what's going on and you aren't caught unawares." being forewarned is being forearmed. Seriously.

The answer? A while back, we are following corporate policy in dealing with this matter internally, when there are things to report we'll report it.

If it were a personal issue and Kyle were your friend or family and he answered the way he did. I think there is a good chance that many people here would not feel like Kyle is a good friend or family member. Saying he found out on twitter was the selfish act of a young man distancing himself from the issue. The family or friend would not have said that, they would have said very little outside we support our loved one.

So "it's not a lie" held up for all of 15 seconds, then we lie, then we get a week of speculation and gossip and further distraction about when we actually actually found out, then we end up where we are now but a week later and with more airplay. Not to mention it being sure to come back given the implicit promise to come back with more info later.

Brilliant! Much better than this being all over but the crying and for the most part forgotten by opening night.

This is how most things are treated. I don't see to many corporations running to podiums to make statements, do you? Not about little things like this. Its a nothing burger being made into a fast food chain by a bad GM

why people get upset at the wrong people is beyond me.

Dubas found out via twitter.
Dubas saying he found out via twitter - is not wrong, is not throwing anyone under the bus. it's telling him the truth.
Dubas should not have had to find out via twitter.
Had Matthews had the maturity to tell his employers what happened, Dubas and the Leafs PR machine would have had months to prepare for this, instead of being told via twitter that his franchise star player, face of the franchise did something completely stupid

and if Kyle had lied - people would be chewing him out for lying.
I have my issues with the guy but for god sakes blaming him for something that's not even his fault is just sheer stupidity.

My message is a bigger message that will probably go over pedants' heads. I can't help it if you still look up to the news media. I'm spreading the seldom uttered truth that the media are the enemy of the people. By all means believe everything presented to you by the narrative shapers. It's an easier world to navigate like that.

It sounds like you watch a lot of TV? The media is not the law, they come to you for answers you are willing to give. Now what you are suggesting is that the media is the new law and its waged in the court of public opinion and so... It sounds like you may love the tyranny of the majority over a rule of law. The law of assumption propoganda. Scary stuff actually.

I support that Matthews is innocent until proven guilty. I think he is a good person and support him.

what in the name of crap are you talking about?

The media is going to do whatever they are going to do. saying that Matthews did the Leafs a favour by being quiet (which. no. he did not). and using the media as a reason for him keeping his mouth shut instead of letting his employers know (which FYI most legal issues that NHL players get in they do tell their clubs regardless of the media) - is just mind-boggling dumbness.

pointing this out now = "I look up to news media?" seriously?

WHY IS EVERYONE BEING SO HYSTERICAL ABOUT THIS!

I can assure you i'm not hysterical.
the wave is going on how Dubas threw Matthews under the bus.
I pointed out how that wasn't true.

why you quoted me and asked why I'm hysterical, - is beyond me.

The highlighted sums every one this poster's posts. Not even a Leaf fan. Here simply to create waves.....

This is the type of reeeeeaction I expect to get when dropping truth bombs to the credulous.

Dubas did nothing wrong. Matthews did a minor thing wrong but the Benjamins have come calling. Everything else is the blather of people/media, including me and you, looking for attention.

Too far man, now its blatant that you're just f***ing with us.

Missing the boat by too much to be taken seriously. This has zero to do with rule of law, media, propanda, majority... it's PR and distraction minimization pure and simple. Your way would have been bad, his way will blow over quickly.
