Good comeback. Enjoy him, I'm sure he'll help Edmonton's stellar defence big time! He's terrible, you'll learn that eventually.

I'm just glad he didn't end up on my team.

Everyone is giving you valid reasons, and that's what you come back with.

Just a classic troll who discredits everything someone else say's as they arent valid reasons. Just another idiot to add to the ignore list.

Obviously not so much after junior, but he's certainly not new to it, and let's just say he's comfortable with the idea.

If he was that comfortable with it he would have played it last year when the Stars lost every RD on the roster to injury . Instead we called up kids from the AHL and played Goligoski on the right side that hadn't played on the right side for years.

Russel plays left side first and foremost.

lol Russell has been widely regarded as trash for a long time. The only difference now is Oilers fans being really defensive about it.

Widely regarded as trash? Didn't the stars pay up quite a bit for him last year at the deadline? I don't understand how this can be viewed as a bad signing. The oilers need d men and it's only a year contract it's pretty much zero risk

...except that he's 32% top 4 and 30% top 2 because his shot generation is so great. His overall possession is top 4 right now and he's likely to improve. You don't seem to understand what the chart is saying.

KGL's point seems to be that CA/60 is the sole indicator of whether a player is a top 6 D or not. I would agree that's the wrong way to use the chart, and as such he's incorrect.

I agree with that.

The problem is Russell is also horrible at generating shots. That combination makes him a depth defenseman, not top 4.

So Russell is better than Hedman, Muzzin and Klingberg, amirite?

Well, there's demonstrable evidence in each of those cases that the players mentioned are better than Russell; Hedman, Muzzin, and Klingberg all vastly outproduce him, generally are on the ice for less goals, and still suppress their fair share of shots.

Emelin, however, doesn't do any of the aforementioned things better or much better than Russell and costs more to boot.

I'm not being defensive dude really. It's the same no matter what Canadian team player x joins, he becomes trash on HFBoards. He is a 5/6/7 at best and since its only money wont be shattered if he is as bad as some posters say. I'm a realist, use Yak's money on another question mark. No harm no foul

Does every Oilers transaction turn into a trollfest on here? How old are some of you?
