doubtfulPaying Kreider could mean we lose Zib when his contract is up.

they said their first priority was to sign him so if they couldn’t compromise that probably had a deal in place they were at least somewhat happy with. Personally I don’t think anybody was offering what they wanted which was a first and a really good prospect along with another pieceI wonder if they signed him with trade deals on the table they weren't happy with?
The fact that the Rangers saw fit to re-sign Kreider, unlike every other player from the prior run that reached this situation should signal what the organization feels about his importance both on and off the ice:

Makes this contract look wayyyyyy better than half the board wants you to believe.
I mean the this year and the next few aren't the problem with this deal. Its there being a pretty good chance he will not be nearly as good as he currently is in the backhalf of the deal.Makes this contract look wayyyyyy better than half the board wants you to believe.
Do we know details on his contract yet? Is it front loaded? Did he get a NTC in any form? If his contract is front loaded with no NTC, I think the last two years can be traded more easily. Lower AAV also means salary retention in a trade is more managable. Lots of bottom dwelling teams love getting players with low $ owed but high AAV to get themselves to cap floor. All we can do now if cheer and hope that CK ages like Ovechkin instead of Lindross. I think we can all agree that Ovechkin has somehow kept his magic even at his age so there is hope for CK even if he isn't a generational player.
EDIT: hmm... I'm guessing the info graph above has the numbers? Are those confirmed?
7.9, 7.6, 7.3, 8.8, 6.3, 5.6, 4.8?
Bill Guerin is an interesting one. His numbers actually improved once he got to be Kreider’s age and older. And he’s a classic power forward.Shane Doan is another good example of a power forward lasting a long time. So did Tkachuk, Claude Lemieux and Brind'Amour.

If you compare Guerin from 23-28 to Kreider from 23-28...it looks pretty similar. And what’s really interesting is this stretch of years:
Age 28: 80GP 30-34-64
Age 29: 70GP 24-22-46
Age 30: 85GP 40-45-85
Do I think Kreider is going to magically become a 40 goal guy like Guerin? Probably not. But it’s just one example of a guy in a similar mold who did exceptionally well in that age bracket.
Edit: Imagine though if we had traded Kreider and he became Bill Guerin 2.0? They may as well have just nuked this part of the board if that transpired.
Crosby and Malkin helped Guerin score 40 goals for the Oilers/Bruins in 2001? Man, they really are HOFers.I think Crosby or Malkin had something to do with it.
This is the biggest yikes i've seen this season, what the hell..
LMAO WHATNot happy with this at all, and I definitely don't see Kreider as captain, I would rather give it to Fox despite him being a rookie.
LMAO WHAT
All credibility to that opinion was lost once you said Fox should be captain....
