Horrible news. As has been mentioned, this is Miller's time to shine. Nash or MSL absolutely have to move to the left side now. I'd roll with

Nash-Stepan-MSL
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Hagelin-Miller-Richards

As the top 9

play to strength: speed, speed, speed --- which is the AV system!

prev. had Kreider - Miller - Cally, now MSL has enough speed so he stays there at RW, and that should be the play for next year.
Until CK returns, Hags there.

Hagelin-Miller-MSL
Richards-Stepan-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Carcillo-D Moore-Boyle

If Hagelin does play on a top 6 line, he'll always be the complementary guy who is asked to do the basics and skate hard while not having to concern himself with creativity.

You could go Hagelin-Stepan-Nash, but another possibility is Zuccarello-Stepan-Nash with Pouliot-Brassard-St. Louis

Out there but: Numbers for Callahan are 45 GP - 11 G - 14 A - 25 Pts (0,56 PPG) before the trade and 10 GP - 2 G - 4 A - 6 Pts (0,60 PPG) since it occured. Tampa has lost one game in regulation since the trade going 5-1-4 (1,40 PPG)

I think getting that Stamkos guy back has more to do with that record than Callahan ;)

Outside of 1 month of inspired play, I think Kreider has been pretty abysmal - especially after the new year. This is not a catastrophic loss when looking solely at the player.

When looking at the position he plays, the issue becomes larger. The already paper thin depth at LW just got worse.

I would strongly dispute that he's been abysmal but he for some reason has been extremely hesitant to shoot the puck and to stay quite as physically involved as he has before. Not that he hasn't used his body but some of his best games were when he was crushing other players and shooting the puck, but he really hasn't been doing that much.

he still has been quite good at puck retrieval and forechecking and has made a lot of really good passes to setup teammates that haven't finished, it just drives me crazy that he's not shooting very much at all

So far the Rangers haven't called anyone up it appears

I actually don't think this injury should have too much of an effect on the team - I like what Kreider brings to the table, but he's still at a stage where his play is wildly inconsistent. While it would best to have no injuries at all, the truth is we've been very lucky compared to other teams. It helps when everyone's job is not to get in front of a flying puck all game long!

Hagelin, Brassard, ST LOUIS, Nash, etc., need to step up. We need consistency from Hagelin and Brasard (not five good games followed by seven forgettable games), and big time scoring from St Louis and Nash. And from Brad Richards we need...a buyout. Please.

He leaves you wanting more most nights. He his the size, speed, and shot to be a force in the NHL. His engagement level (or lack thereof most nights) is baffling.

AV confirms that Chris Kreider suffered a hand injury and will not accompany the Rangers on their four-game road trip.

#NYR AV said Rangers still trying to decide course of action with Kreider. Did not rule out surgery as possibility.

#NYR Kreider suffered the hand injury during Columbus game, according to AV. Played 2 additional games with minimal pain apparently

I thought he had a good game against Phoenix. Almost had a very nice assist to Stepan. Nice to see him perform well even when injured.

Paul Martin had hand surgery for the injury suffered in Sochi. 4-6 week recovery time for Martin. McKenzie said Kreider would be out a month or longer. McKenzie know.

Lol. I agree on the impact. Kreider was really important in helping the team stabilize through their first half struggles, but lately, he hasn't been that important of a player. I'm not happy with him being out, but it could have been much worse. I also think Miller is ready to step in. He's not perfect defensively, but neither is Kreider.
