23 year old with 10 career points and a blanket refusal to play in the AHL. Of course he has zero trade value.
Yep.
Too many posters in here thinking this trade reflects the player’s ability and talent level rather than the situation. He wouldn’t have been traded for a price like this if Kane wasn’t coming in, and he was only worth a price like this because of a much higher than normal chance he bolts back to Russia.
I'm pretty sure Drury has been trying to trade this kid for 2 years now.

The lowest threshold of being "talented" as a professional athlete is knowing your place in an organization. Krav never showed himself as having that understanding.

His unwillingness to play in the AHL was never backed up by his on-ice performance in the big league. So, naturally, no GM saw him as a genuine asset.

This is one of the reasons I never understand the logic of "we have two 1st round picks. We can blow one on a rental." Imagine if we'd given away the Chytil pick in 2017. Or the K'AM and Lundkvist picks in 2018. Or imagine if we had a second 1st in 2013. The importance of a backup 1st round pick can be massive.
I agree. The Tarasenko trade could bite us in the ass if he doesn't play well. We gave up a ton for him.

But if you look at the average GM's tenure, it incentives them to shoot for the moon today rather than be patient for tomorrow. And this core is pretty much as good as it's going to get over the next few years. So they're shooting their shot until it becomes time to empty the cabinet again. It's a cyclical thing.

10 years from now, we'll be acquiring first round picks all over again.

I’d hardly call the corpse or Sammy Blais, a nothing prospect, and a 1st “a ton”.

The 1st is the only thing of value in there.

I also feel like teams tend to get more value relative to cost by picking up guys like Vatrano (last year) or Lafferty than they get from bigger moves like Tarasenko or Kane or (for that matter) Copp last year.
I agree 100%. I hate bringing in old superstars rather than the middle 6 type players in their prime who were just on a bad team who is selling. Last year felt like a better formula. Drury was stingy. I liked it.

I don't know how well guys like Tarasenko and Kane are going to perform after playing 10 years on another team and not even having good seasons this year. Just feels like the Stall trade we made a few years back. It was terrible.

I hope I'm wrong though.

Imagine if Drury did this and Kane has a change of heart and stays in CHI. What a waste of a pick considering Wahlstrom, Dobson and Farabee were available. That’s two first round pick from that same draft that requested trades away from the Rangers. At least the Rangers got a nice return for trading Lundkvist.

Found Ed’s insta meanwhile.

It’s a waste of a pick either way. It’s not like we’d have faced a shortage of future 4th/5th rounders if we didn’t have VK available for trade. Whether we acquire Kane or not, this is the end of the Kravtsov saga in NY and he was one of the biggest bust/disappointments possible.

"On a clear day, it is possible to see the Russian territory from the Alaskan island."

Alaska owns Little Diomede Island and Russian owns Big Diomede Island. They are 2.4 miles apart and you can definitely see one from the other.

Not defending Palin, as a lifelong Alaskan I probably dislike like her more than anyone on here.
