A lot of this is on the player. It was a bad pick but he could have been *something*.

He's 140 pounds and got pissy over being asked to work on it. He got pissy over being in a bottom six role when he was lucky to be in the league at all.

Kravtsov thinks as highly of Kravtsov as Ed does.
Agreed.

Being unwilling to go to the AHL or hit the gym shows a lack of desire and professionalism. That’s on the player.

Did the Rangers handle everything perfectly? Probably not, but in the end your career is your responsibility. It’s no different from regular work. Not every condition you deal with is going to be 100% optimal. You still have to produce and do the job.

I think the theory about Van being the third team in the Kane deal may be right and Kravtsov was the return for that. Either way, getting nothing out of 7th and 9th overall picks from the beginning of the rebuild is pretty f***ing brutal.
I'm less concerned about that if our 1st and 2nd overall were further ahead.

We don't know what Cuylle is yet.

the 9OA is officially a bust though. Would have been nice if Tkachuk dropped to us like I hoped he would even though a large majority of this board would have flipped a shit if it happened.

I've been in the camp to keep Kravtsov around. If that's the return, keep him.

Both sides are at fault for him not panning out; if they developed him properly and if he had the work ethic to get better, the NYR wouldn't be scrambling to trade for Patrick Kane (maybe not even would've had to trade for Tarasenko. It's likely for the best that the team moved on.

It's a shame; he has the talent/skill, but it's being wasted.

I look at this way. Take out whoever is at fault for whatever. Forget that altogether. Can the guy play in a top 9 for the Rangers and produce? That's pretty much what this year for him was about......and he got outplayed by guys like Vesey, Goodrow and even Gauthier who has put a lot more effort into trying to improve his overall game.

We're at the serious part of the year and hoping to make noise again. Vitali wasn't going to help us there. Having a roster spot held by a player who isn't going to play and you don't really trust is a waste for a playoff bound team. You want even your spares to be able to step in. I would trust Brodzinski, Cuylle....maybe even Carpenter to step in at least better than Kravtsov would.

Maybe Vancouver flips Kravtsov to Chicago for a 4th and some retained salary? As part of a Kane deal? This may have just needed to be done early for cap reasons.

Anyone mad about this return, Kravtsov had next to no value. Not sure what you expected.

Nah yo, Brooks was off his rocker and he was actually worth a 2nd!

It wasn't just about his production this year, its about all the baggage he accumulated over the last few years. People aren't going to be banging down the door for a malcontent who has shown himself liable to flee at a moments notice when things don't go his way who also happens to suck at offense.

Watch this defensive game drop off a cliff now too.

Its going to end up costing us a Cup, just like the 2003 draft ended up haunting us a decade later. Any of Mike Richards on the low end, Ryan Getzlaf or Patrice Bergeron gets us at least 2 Cups in 2012-15.
