Wasn't he watching the game in the owner's box with the owner or the GM of the team or something? When I have a meeting with a Dean, even if it isn't MY Dean, I don't show up in sweatpants and Bart Simpson-wear. Granted, I'm old, so there is that. I know it was jokingly said by someone earlier, but I would be really curious to see if this whole debate is split generationally, as both sides seem completely dumbfounded by the arguments of the opposition.
Kravtsov wearing Bart Simpson-wear is the next HF meme LMAO
But perhaps there is some credence to the debate being a generational thing, I am dumbfounded by some people on the other side of this arguments takes. And I think everyone knows where I fall generationally

Speaking of hyperbole…. Your second paragraph.

In what way? My first year coaching soccer (back when I taught HS), we cut two 11th graders because they were borderline players with attitude problems and we were brought in to change the culture (the school had a lousy reputation, including racking up red cards, casual racism, and other things like that, all of which was ignored by the previous coaching staff). The mother of one of the 11th graders pitched. a. fit. Called the principal and screamed her head off. Went on and on about how she's good friends with two school board members, and if the principal knew what was good for him, he'd fix the problem. The principal called us in the next day, informed us that we didn't have to play those two much, but that they were on the team.

The (actual) kids showed up the next week with shit-eating grins on their faces. They thought they were conquering heroes. The rest of the team saw them for what they were--petulant little crybabies who got mommy to get them reinstated on the team. And they were pretty pissed about it, too, because it meant losing two 10th graders to the JV squad who both would have contributed more as role players. And that was a locker room of kids engaging in sport as a hobby. How do you think a locker room full of professionals would act in a similar situation?

Yeah, if I had to guess, he knew quite well that by refusing to report to Hartford, that would be it for him here. He didn't like his current situation and decided he would be willing to take the hit to try to force his way out. Paul Theofanous and now Dan Milstein, those are two of the biggest agents in the sport. Both represent a lot of Russian stars in the NHL. Theofanous I believe still represents Panarin. I'm sure this situation didn't happen spontaneously and without input from Milstein--and I'm sure he had conversations with Theofanous about never wanting to play in Hartford again, as well. There's no way this decision wasn't informed and intentional. He doesn't want to play here again and almost certainly won't.
Kravtsov fired Theofanus just recently and hired Milstein. Mentioned it a few days ago but Theofanus and Glen Sather go way back. I'm sure it didn't make Sather happy that Kravstov fired his friend.

Edge has talked about this but where Rangers management dropped the ball here was knowing they had a real potential problem and not moving on from it when they could probably have done so a lot easier and would more likely have gotten a much better return. The first walk away was strike one and the exit interview was strike two and if in keeping tabs on his summer work habits they weren’t happy that was strike three. That’s the somewhat mystifying part of how Drury and co. handled this.

As for Kravtsov he’s bailed on the team twice. If that’s how he’s going to handle adversity I don’t want him back. It’s not smart to guarantee a rookie (which is what he still is) a roster spot. Those need to be earned.

Blais earned a 3rd line spot over Kravtsov. Decisively. He started the season on that 3rd line wing and has played there in both games that he was healthy. Why should Kravtsov be given that spot and Blais demoted to the 4th line?

Because Kravtsov is a player we could build this team around, has more skill and would fit well in the top 9. Blais isnt owed anything here, we may not have him past the trade deadline, Kravtsov is an asset we shouldn't be tooling around with and Mr.Magoo could have seen how this would play out, it shouldnt have happened, you could have kept him instead of Tinordi, Hajek or Gauthier.

It was earned though....thats the problem, they were dicking around with him again.

Or because of the relationship Kravstov felt his best intrest were not being served.
And more writing on the wall that Drury should have delt him sooner.

So Kravtsov would be a better fit in the top 9 than the player who performed better than Kravtsov for the last two years and handily outplayed him in pre-season? You keep saying that Kravtsov "earned" that spot, but you keep justifying that position by insisting that he would do better. That's not how you earn a thing. And again, Tinordi, Hajek, and Gauthier have f*** all to do with Kravtsov. I'm baffled that 88 pages in, there are people that still don't understand that.

This whole thread is basically 80+ pages of people going:

A- "Kravtsov was screwed! He earned a spot!"

B- "Over whom?"

A- "Guys on the 4th line and guys who regularly won't see the ice!"

B- "No, who did he beat for that top 9 spot you penciled him in to play?"

A- "None of them, but we're going to demote one of them to the 4th line!"

B- "But...why should that player get stuck on the 4th line after beating Krav for the 3rd line spot?"

A- "Because Krav WILL play better! And by playing better later, he earned it when he didn't play better before!"

B- "What?"

A- "f***ING HAJEK!!!!!"

That's basically the thread in a nutshell.

I feel like it's a low-key, subtle Bart Simpson shirt he's wearing, so it's not offensive? It's not a humongous size in-your-face Bart?

But maybe Bart is symbolic of himself? A brat?

Personally I find the no-socks more vomit-inducing. Douche written all over that.

You ok?

Kravtsov was and still is our best top 9 and possibly top 6 option at camp outside of the regulars. He got injured in a game but he played well in the short stint he played. We know fully what Gauthier is, he's not adding to this roster.

But six other wingers either played better or had locked in spots. There was basically one open spot in the top 9. Blais won it. Kravtsov didn't. There is literally no metric you can point to other than "because you want it to be so" that has Krav beating Blais in the pre-season. It wasn't even close. And I'm fine, but this argument is so circular and annoying, but it keeps on going because one side keeps using facts, stats, and how things have always been done in the NHL, while the other side keeps on claiming the opposite to be true while literally ignoring every bit of the copious data that shows they are wrong.

Case in point--answer each of the following questions with either Kravtsov or Blais:

Who has better production the last two years?
Who performed better during this preseason?
Who has more attributes for a traditional 3rd line role?
Who has more experience/would be a better influence for a team looking to change its culture?

The answer to all four is Blais. If Krav could have out-performed Blais in the preseason, or even matched him while playing in 1.5 fewer games, there might be an argument. Krav lost the spot and was sent down to be groomed for a top 6 role later in the season (by which point you might be able to justify demoting a Kreider or a Blais or maybe even Kakko). But just giving him the spot right after he so clearly lost the competition in camp? That would have been bunk. Being mad that you didn't get a spot over a guy who handily out-played you in the preseason is delusional.

Really great fashion sense. This team just gets uglier and uglier over the years. We lose Henrik, Skjei, Howden, and Kravtsov. Not seeing an end to this rebuild tbh.

Gauthier is a fifth line turnover and penalty machine.
You can find 50 of those around.
So the whole argument of him not clearing waivers is insanity
Who cares if he did or not.
This is organizational malfeasance.

It’s been mentioned a couple times already but I think it’s pretty clear the team gave him indications he was going to make the team

It’s kinda funny things how things have shaken out with injuries, he literally would have been up with the team now if he just sucked it up and spent a week in Hartford rehabbing from his injury

On top of that I really got no time for Kravtsovs sensitive millennial BS
Grow up and be a pro. Hartford may not be the riveria of the east coast. But its not a toxic waste dump or a war zone.
So get over it.

I think they are grown ups and professionals themselves and are not gonna all throw their own temper tantrums because a 21 year old gets a tiny bit of special treatment.

And if any of them did that is why Gallant and Drury are getting paid millions, to f***ing explain it to them and make it work.

The days of old school “pay your dues,” and “tough love,” and “can’t let the players run the show,” are dead in pro sports. It’s a dinosaur mentality for the most part.

As much as I’d like it to still be the case in most instances, it’s just not. And the players not only understand it, it is they who want it that way. They are not gonna revolt because you make one exception to the rules.

Rangers dont have any cards, he can play in Russia for the rest of his life if he wants.

Sure, he can, but he's asking to be traded because he wants to play in the NHL. He didn't say terminate my contract so i can go home and stay in europe forever.

Sometimes decisions should be made for the future and not for winning the next game.
