Drury really does hold most of the cards here. The only card Kravstov holds is withholding his services. A card that he already has played (multiple times now).

Drury can toll his contract and make it so that he can't play in a relevant league until he finishes out his deal.

The current situation benefits no one, but Kravstov has much, much more to lose on a personal level than anyone in the Rangers Org.

For the life of me, I can't understand why this kid won't listen to reason. Play out your contract this season, and then you can play hardball or demand a trade while negotiating your next deal. The KHL becomes a credible threat. You have leverage at that point. He's painted himself into a corner by having what amounts to a tantrum.

And, for the record, I'm not saying the organization handled the situation well. We frankly don't know enough to make a judgement on that. But what Kravstov is doing is moronic, both personally and professionally.

The first time he left for the KHL I feel like there were rumors his family was giving him advice on hwo to handle it. I wonder how much influence all that has over his decisions.

also holy hell Lundkvist looks so young, hah

The coolest part is that in addition to being a promising hockey player, Nils is a terrific surgeon.

Drury should follow Moreys path

Jason Kelce of the Eagles was talking about playing in Philly. About Ben Simmons, he said everyone has to be accountable, and everyone writes their own narrative. You have to go out there and work and get better.

I would like to see the situation resolved, but unless someone is willing to offer us fair value for Kravtsov right now, the guy needs to come back and play and help reestablish the value. If he doesn't want to play, I don't want to trade him for nothing. If it's trade him for nothing or he sits and we get nothing, let him sit.

The wildcard though seems to be VK doesn’t appear to be too bothered by not being in the NHL. So that ties the Rangers hands and lowers his value. It’s a stalemate.

Very Dom Moore-like in his effectiveness
Yea good comp. very smart player. Kind of jack of all trades, master of none, but gets the job done.
It’s amazing what 2 better line mates do for his overall game.
Not that he was bad last season. Just stands out more with Reaves and Hunt.
I remember the devils fans weren’t too happy when he saw how little they signed with us. They wanted to keep him over there.

You're right, he doesn't seem bothered. He should be, though, because if he does this all season, this year isn't going to count and he'll be in the same position next year.

The Rangers were smart to keep Rooney. Useful player, glue guy. The type of guy everyone complains we can't develop or overpay to sign.
I’ve changed my stance on ughh Roooooney! . When he used on the right line and role he’s useful. I like him now. Lol, you know ? my very important end to be all opinion

I think that’s part of the problem. I think he isn’t really bothered by that either. He seems really happy being a pampered “kid” back home. If he really wanted to, he can get out of his contractual obligation if he actually retires from the NHL and then he’d be free to play at home in the KHL. I’m not so sure that he cared THAT much about the NHL - he just seems to care about getting his way and not being inconvenienced. He strikes me - at this point - as someone who thinks that playing in the NHL is something he is entitled to based on his talent rather than a privilege he aspires to. I don’t think he’s hungry to play in the NHL, just feeling slighted that we dared to not give him a spot. I have a feeling - just a feeling, I acknowledge that - that Kravtsov is the type of kid who would be fine with making good money and spending his whole career in Russia, like a Shipachyov.

Right now Kravtsov’s top end value is struggling to make it first round prospect or 2022 2nd rounder. It’s likely the same value now as it will be on draft day. So there’s no real hurry on our part. Vitali has loads of talent but talent without the will to fight through adversity more times than not ends up with you having a shit player. The best players work their asses off. That’s almost always been the case. Vitali’s put up some major red flags about just how willing he is. I suspect there are team’s out there that will give him another chance but the likelihood is they’re going to get a discount from us.

Since manegement done screwed up the best thing they can ndo is allow him to play in Russia and let his value build and keep his rights.
They could not get a bag of pucks for him now

On the main boards Kravtsov there was a post that said there was a report that Vitali leaving had nothing to do with Drury but the player wants to play in the top 6 and realized with Panarin, Kakko, Lafrenier and Kreider ahead of him that he would not get a chance.
For a very unpopular trade proposal read no further.

To Montreal: Lafrenier, Gauthier and their choice of either Tarmo Reunanen or Libor Hajek.
To New York: Montreal’s 2022 and 2023 1st round picks unprotected.

Welcome back Kravtsov.
