Just out of curiosity--if getting yelled at a couple of times by his boss is such a trauma-inducing event, why did Krav report to camp in the first place? It's almost like the yelling incidents wouldn't have mattered to him if he had been handed what he wanted (a free space in the team). Sounds like just another excuse to justify him bailing on his contract because he was expected to earn his spot. Don't want to get sent down to the AHL? Play better than the guys who made the team in top 9 spots. He didn't, so it's clearly Drury's fault for yelling at him two years ago.

I don't have an Athletic subscription anymore. Did the article reveal anything other than what's been mentioned in this thread? Because thus far, all that's come out is that Kravtsov got yelled at by his boss a couple of times. That's not a shocking revelation. That's just something that literally happens to everyone in every job ever. It literally happened in the last Astros/Red Sox game (Cora yelled at Eduardo Rodriguez--in front of the whole stadium and on national television--for showboating. Rodriguez, shockingly, didn't bail on the team and go home. Rather, they were hugging it out within about 40 seconds). If not, what "more" is there to be revealed? Did someone accidentally park in Kravtsov's parking space or take his lunch from the break room!? OH THE HUMANITY! BACK TO MOTHER RUSSIA WHERE SUCH CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY ARE RARE! Kid needs to grow up and realize that no NHL GM is going to let him make his own rules because his daddy's rich.

obviously keith oberman is right and drury backstabbed his way into the GM joband is an antivaxxing pizza-gate believer to boot

Where's Steven when you need him to be a peacekeeper?

What do you need?

Rumor has it he was last seen talking with Vitali’s 3rd uncle twice removed.

I spoke to some of his family members last week, yes. Of course I take what comes from that side with a grain of salt, but it's interesting to see things now confirmed in today's article. I always felt this was a much more complex situation than a lot of fans made it out to be.

More details come out but I don't really think the narrative changes for either side in this debate over which part is right and which is wrong. The people that thought Drury f***ed up now feel that's more true than ever, the people that think Kravtsov is a whiny little bitch still feel that's definitely the case. It all still sounds fairly straightforward to me.

Captain Cash. Jesus I forgot all about that.

Yeah, he was not liked around here. I don't think the Garden crowd disliked him quite as much, but we're talking about HF and on these boards he was basically hated. I mean you had some of us that would defend him against those that hated him the first couple seasons because he wasn't producing (when he was basically hitting his career averages), but that was basically it. No one else had anything nice to say. LOL.
There was the lack of "clutchiness" he displayed here that he had in spades elsewhere (including the Little League World Series lol)

But I know I didn't appreciate the "I'm not going to let it ruin my Christmas" remark. Not very Captainyyy

Like just go with the generic "We'll get em next time" or some BS

Most people hated Drury as a player.

you mean fans anyone who were playing against the Avs or the Sabres during the peak of his career?

Drury was only "good" as a NYR. Sather should have resigned Nylander to appease Jagr in retrospect and signed only one of Drury or Gomez as
2C.

Drury was a great player for the AVs and Sabres. Only a dummy would disagree.

I think Drury has definitely mishandled the situation, but I also think Kravtsov reacted in the wrong way.

Drury likely saw it as a motivation tactic, but Kravtsov isn't used to that kind of motivation on a cultural level, coming from a rich Russian family.

The blame is definitely closer to 50/50 at this point knowing all we do now, but ultimately I think it more falls on Kravtsov for not just giving it a chance for a couple of weeks in the AHL, especially if he's willing to play there for another team.

I'm also not buying that it's a "pattern" for the Rangers. Andersson was suffering a bit mentally in Hartford it seems, not much you can do if the player doesn't say something to someone. DeAngelo has documented issues throughout his career and employing him was always a risk, the Rangers being his 3rd NHL team.

Drury and Kravy are almost exact opposites in some regards. Drury was a pudgy kid with enormous hand/eye coordination and game intelligence but probably had to work really hard to overcome his shortcomings. Kravy is very naturally skilled and athletic and probably went from level to level without breaking a sweat. Even though word from the KHL was positive about his work ethic, Drury can’t get over that first impression and Kravy’s goofy smile and easy going body language hasn’t exactly helped with a RW job available. Drury can talk all hewants about analytics, he’s old school and so is Turk - they wanted a salty initiate bumping people In the hallway on his way to winning a job (like Cuylle) but Kravy isn’t that guy and he isn’t good enough to forgive not being that guy like Panarin. 90 points buys a lot of goofy smiles

"7. According to a couple of sources, Rangers’ coach Gerard Gallant personally called Vitali Kravtsov to ask the forward to consider returning. Kravtsov is in Russia, but several teams say they’ve been told he wants to play in the NHL, not stay overseas. He went home to find a comfortable spot to skate and be ready. Getting him to come back to New York will take some serious convincing, as it’s not his preference. He’d like a fresh start. New York is asking a high price for the 2018 first-rounder, but there’s legitimate interest. It’s a poker game."

Honestly would not be surprised if this turns into a Drouin situation. It’s in both parties best interest to get Kravstov back on the ice. It builds up his trade value for the Rangers and it gets him a trade quicker. He’d be stupid not to see that him playing wouldn’t get him moved quicker.

There is no way he’s here long term but it’d be nice to get some value for him.

Drouin had at least proven himself at the NHL level.

TB had a body of work to point to when justifying their asking price.

Depends on what your definition of Great is.

If there really is legitimate interest (and wouldn't be the first time Friedman and Dreger would have reported that with nothing happening), then the Rangers should just hold on to him until they get an offer that meets their ask. I'm assuming that a 2nd rounder is not what's meant by that.

"Come back, Vitaly, have you seen what I've had to run out on the ice the past few games??"
