To be honest I understand why it is the way it is.. I Don't LIKE it but I understand.. but much like that High stick because it's not 4m ends up being 0 I don't like the result.. And I think the result should be to get it right..
If the refs reviewed it that technically would be wrong but them getting together in a break and talking it out. isn't that..
I think more often the refs should get together on calls and state what they saw then they determine if they were correct or not.. but that's not NHL hockey.

Honestly a great game from the Canes. As much as the third period sucked in my memory, the Kraken only had a couple of decent scoring chances. Their one goal in the 3rd was on a low danger shot. We shut the door in the third. We just didn't look as dominant because we took our foot off the gas offensively. And also we are missing two of our top 3 finishers with Aho/Pacioretty. This game could have been 5-1.

This game was an ensemble effort where no one player looked way better than anyone else. Pretty much the whole team looked good. On the Kraken, only guys I really noticed were Grubauer, Matty Beniers, and Vince Dunn. Feel like Dunn was a top 4 D we could have had at a nice price but we missed the boat.

Also kinda nice in back to back games the opponent barely controlled the puck when playing 6-5 hockey.

Lastly, I have a sneaking suspicion we are going to have to get used to Kochetkov letting in a softie and then also making a few insane saves. I hope that part of his game will grow in time but for right now you can definitely see he has areas to work on. Still our best option in net for right now, and still an amazing talent.

I haven't gotten caught up with the topic, but like Tripp, I'm completely "baffled" (a nice way of saying it) about why we were penalized for high sticking when it was friendly fire between the Seattle players, and especially when it seemed they were reversing course after video replay, but most of all, I'm baffled by the fact the refs didn't even SAY what the penalty was for. When the f*** have they ever NOT say what a penalty is for?

For those reasons, that's one of the worst penalties I've seen in a long time.

Anyway, good game by the Canes even though they nearly completely gave up a big 3-0 lead. It wasn't really on our goalie with the type of goals (mostly thinking of the double deflection) that were scored though.

You all canes fans might have been as drunk and high (not legally like me) as I was during this game after this entertaining read. Thanks for the entertainment.

The Canes look every bit a Cup contender defensively. Unreal really. Reminds me of the mid-90’s early 00’s Devils teams that were “not able to be penetrated”. Lmfao.

So, you know, those were 3 of the most beautiful goals all year…but that game still could have totally gotten away from us after it went 3-2, soooo….

I’ll feel better when the goal differential goes back to what it was last year.

Again, we're missing Aho and Pacioretty. Both are known to be excellent finishers, especially the latter, and the latter has been out all year. Keep playing elite defense (they have) and the results will keep trending the right way.

This is how we always post. What are trying to say?!?!?! :skeptic:

So, fair point about Aho. But then again the Bruins managed to be down their top two guys and still win like there first 15 games or whatever. And the Pens year after keep winning even when missing Crosby.

But really- I don't want to hear "we are missing Pacioretty". The guy has never even played a single game for us. And he will at some point recover from a grievous injury. It is completely within the realm of possibility that he never does dick for us.

But it is also within realm that he does recover and becomes a goal scorer for us. Changing the whole dynamic of our offense. Until either happens, all we have is speculation. So speculate we will.

It absolutely is. But I don't think his arrival should be counted on as something that is inevitably going to boost the team's overall performance.

That's not completely a logical line of thinking. You're complaining about the team not having the same goal differential as last season, yet they brought Pacioretty in to replace some of the goal scoring (Nino/Tro) that the team lost in the off-season.

So yes, he's never played for us yet but the team acquired him to replace goal scoring lost. So it's logical to think that the team won't score as much with him out of the line-up.

You are fine in being concerned that he may not be 100% when he returns, but to complain about the goal differential and then dismiss that the team is missing the guy they brought in specifically to score goals makes no sense to me.
