just not impressed with his game. He makes big saves but over the course of a 60 minute game there is always a soft goal and he just can’t keep a lead

Until he shows me he can hold a lead. Impossible to be a supporter. Win is a game when you have a 2 goal lead

He’s making amazing saves every game. Probably just need to work with him a bit to get the more stable play out of him. Remaining optimistic

He was but he's also letting in softies every game as well which counteract all his great saves. The tying goal in Arizona and the winning goal last night were just bad goals to let in.

They have managed to destroy their goalies confidence totally
So I guess it's OK for them to suck because they are emotionally damaged???
For the record Korpisalo ranks 74th in goals saved above expected and Forsberg ranks 78th. They've allowed fifteen more goals than expected whereas Montreal goalies have allowed 4 fewer than expected. Basically Sens goalies have been bad.

That's really the only thing I can think of where I cringe at it that will hurt going forward. I guess all the stupid del zotto and other buyout contracts you mean?

We're a cap team and one of the league's worst.

We owe the league a 1st round pick for his stupidity.

We have next to nothing to show for two straight drafts.

Our AHL team has made the playoffs once in the last five seasons, and is bad again this year.

We're saddled with buyouts, but at least those come off the books soon.

Somehow Jim Clark is still a pro scout.

We don't even have a head scout in a season where we'll be picking top 10.

You don't run an organization, top to bottom, as poorly as Pierre Dorion did and not feel the effects for years to come. He left a promising core and a complete f***ing mess.

Making goalies worse was another key pillar of our identity under DJ.

Korpisalo makes enough great saves that I'm confident he'll be fine once the team stops playing pond hockey.
same I wasn't even a fan of getting him but I can see he is much better than some of the other goalies we have had like Forsberg

That's a fair assessment really. I like the core and feel like they will be more than fine with a real coach, but he certainly f***ed up as much as he succeeded

What a parting gift pierre left us here.
Which one? There's countless. What I wanna know is why he was allowed to make such important moves like this one. Short term deals are fine. He's proven over and over again he has no idea how to evaluate goaltending. What's this Pierre you want to give a guy a 5 year deal that's never played more then 40 games. Sure!

We all like them too
They are entertaining when their offence gets going
They are skilled with the puck

But they are not good at 2023 hockey
Offense stats is their primary concern
Making the nice highlight play
When it works it looks unreal

But they get destroyed at the game of hockey
They have missed only Pinto and Chabot in this trip
Just to go 0-5 16 GF - 25 GA
The goalies bleed GA
They get run over at the slightest test they face

This guy can't get through a game without letting in a stinker. He let's goals in, in bunches literally every game. Don't see how he's any better than any of them. Gus was quite clearly the most talented but that absolute IDIOT traded him for a 35 year old UFA.

Speaking of Dorion. Where is that coward? Haven't seen one interview. What a loser. Atleast DJ faced the media.

Notice how different the media responded to the firing of DJ and PD. That's all you need to know about the difference in character between these two people.

The Dorion rot in this organization won't go away for years to come.

Considering how long the sale took, we can assume that the board in charge after ConPrime croaked were about as incompetent as everyone else around at the time.

Korpisalo has been underwhelming but I think he can be a part of the solution. Having said that, if a team is willing to pay for him, I'd be open to hearing offers. I'd prefer giving JM time to evaluate this roster till the end of the season before moving anyone. Dorion and DJ's crap is going to take time to fix.

We made good goalies bad under DJ.

Korpisalo has shown he has the ability to bail this horrible team out. Once the team stops being horrible, odds are good he will let in less softies.

He's mentally weak. Can't ever make a save when things are snow balling. What a f***in mess.

Omg if a team would take him for free I'd drive him to the airport myself.

First game of the year. Sens battle all the way back, he let's in a shot over his blocker that he tried to catch. I knew right then and there he was trash. Crucial point of the game and he does something you're taught not to do as a goaltender when you are 10 years old. Mentally WEAK.

What's that old hockey adage? That your best penalty killer has to be your goalie? Well, we currently have the worst penalty kill percentage in the league. How much of that is the fault of our systems, and how much of it is the fault of our personnel. Time will tell, I suppose.

Same.

I don't see us ever winning a cup with Korpisalo, he's too weak mentally. What good is stopping every shot and looking like a brick wall when you let in a stinker at some point?

That first game of the year was also a key indicator for me with the blocker like you mentioned. It gave me Lalime-Nieuwendyk flashbacks.

Looking up stats on Korpisalo
From Natural Stattrick
at 300+ minutes played 5v5 GSAA rank 38 -0.84 We would love this to be his all situations number.
at 25+ minutes played 4v5 PK GSAA rank 70 -8.50
at 300+ minutes played All Strengths GSAA rank 63 -8.58

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking at why Dorion might sign him to a 5 year deal 4m AAV deal.
From 2019-20 thru 2021-22 (3 year)
at 3000+ minutes played All Strengths GSAA rank 57 out of 58 -30.05

at 300 minutes played; In 2022/23 with CBJ All Strengths Rank 19 GSAA 6.87 , with LA All Strengths Rank 27 GSAA 4.87

Now maybe this is just me .. but when 1 year looks like it could be an outlier .. I'd like to see it again before I'd commit to 5 years.

Korpisalo looks to be playing at the level he has played at most of his career with the exception of last year.
