Our starts are concerning, but there is definitely something to be said about our uncanny ability to take wins in close games when as recently as one season ago we were losing these types of games like clockwork

You know you can say it's Shesterkin and it was in part BUT I saw that his save % is actually worst in third periods. They've been scoring more timely goals than I can remember in a long time. The team has cajones even though they look like the worst team in the league for long stretches.

How long do we have to be sitting on the top of the metro for people to finally accept we’re a good team?

I know the movie from where this came and also the exact point of the movie. I don't know if that's sad or not.

So I don't know what the fancy stats say but this was one of the rare games that Shesterkin was the second best goalie out there. And not because he did anything wrong. Quick was that good. But I bet the fancy stats aren't that kind to the Rangers.

Expected goals in all situations was 3.66 to 2.67 in favor of the Rangers.

Five on five was 1.66-1.04 in favor of LA.

no we really won this game

We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Got to make the playoffs first and how they are playing are getting positive results.

I'm mostly annoyed that this team still kind of struggles with the same things they have for years. Really playing better shut down D and generating more dangerous scoring chances consistently. I wish they'd figure out how to get to that point and not feel like they're constantly having to figure out mid game how to up their tempo and start scoring goals etc

I thought Laf had a good game idk why he got benched. But I do notice that Gallant is harder on Laf than anyone else. Maybe it’s because he knows his potential and wants him to reach his ceiling.

Maybe gallant is hard because he knows he can lead the team.

Sending him out in the shootout after Byfiekd tracks with this

Yeah, our 1st periods are an issue.

We are weak in the middle of the ice. In both zones. When we happen to get to the middle, we score. Our defense in the middle has been sloppy.

We need to fix these things. Gallant has been going easy because of the travel schedule, I get it.... but we need to pick it up a little. I think we could afford some 5v5 practice time over PP.
