Andersen may well have been playing hurt, though. I want to see more after the Canes decide that he's actually ready before being so decisive.
hes been hurt b4 last playoffs and there was talks he began the season still hurting from that injury , ffs if he hasnt healed since this off season dont friggin re sign , i watched many Make Me Laughs games enough to see he sucked , only advantage is his size , also saw Gardiner and was force to watch Sens and Habs games so i knew in advance that Paquette , Galneychuck ,Dzingel , Koko (i think he still plays good just has bad luck) and now Patches , he will be avr at best , nowhere to be seen in playoffs or injured and poof gone next year.
So coming back to Andersen , i will be very mad and miserable next year if we resign him

I love this move to let Kochetkov develop and see what he is at a reasonable salary if he can't take the starting job.

I dont like next years UFA crop much. Varlamov will be 35. Quick will be 37. Andersen will only be 33, they may continue with him.

If Samsonov looks good in Toronto I doubt they let him test the market. Tristan Jarry and Nedeljkovic may be the best UFA options under 30.

Regarding Raanta's possible injury, hey Gophers: got any more of them senior goalies?

Varlamov likely cheaper than Freddie and although older, more durable.

It would be a risky plan A, but if Pyotr works out as starter and we can find a cheap 1b/backup this clears up some cap space for 4 years for an acquisition at forward.
That's the ideal situation.

Sounds too good to be true IMO. I can't help but think we'll get a starter for next season, and obviously he'll be more expensive than us getting a back up to Pyotr.

At this point I think they'd have to send us Lundell with Bob.
Yeah I can't fathom why we keep this narrative going. Bob is a hugely negative asset for one year, let alone the three years after this one. I'd take Anton Lundell of course because he's awesome, but other than that, MichaelScottno.gif.

My best guess is we re-sign Reimer next year for 2 years or so. Probably a downgrade in talent from Andersen/Rants but damnit they can't stay healthy.

Not something I thought I’d ever hear about Varlamov.

Varlamov last played 50 games in 2017-18. For all the complaints about Andersen, 50 has been a pretty stable floor of games played outside of 20-21.
It’s what have you done for me lately though. Varlamov has been healthy with NYI, just playing behind Sorokin. Freddie missed a lot of 2 seasons ago, the stretch run last year and is out right now. I’d be more confident about Varly’s health than Freddie’s next year.
